Cold in Canada can be crazy. I barely go outside. I could stay indoors for 4 days without seeing outside because outside is very cold even with the Sunlight.

New students struggle with different things. Cold is not just for new students everyone here is not used to cold.

My prof said he’s been in Canada for over 20yrs and he is still finding cold as an issue. So nobody gets used to cold.


Since I entered Canada in August I never sweat unless when I am in the gym.

E get how the cold would come and my hands would be so peppery like say dem rub pepper for my hands. Water will start coming out from my eyes and nose reason I don’t go outside unless it’s necessary.

Over here an average person you see wears jacket or hoodie due to cold.

I am always carrying jacket when I’m outside.

The weather is u predictable. It could be warm and the next moment very cold

But winter cold has not started in canada this time feels like summer sometimes..

In 2025 winter cold broke my room window glass in manitoba shattered it into pieces,If not that the glass was two, one inside and one outside,I would have evacuated that room at the mid night!
It completely destroyed the window glass inside, it was upto -35° degrees that time.

Yes you can bring kids and plan how to manage them while studying, you must plan ahead for day care in advance if the children needs day care...
The program will require practical they may schedule practical at the hospital during night time when all day care is closed,then you may need to find private individual for childs care.

Why will you need immigration consultants just for previous ban if application is submitted after ban period has elapsed..

You should have information submitted your previous application,employment and education history..
Declare your previous refusal and reasons,that you are truthful with the information submitted in current application ..
Immigration officer will thoroughly scrutinize all the documents submitted in the next application including any other information involved..

I have seen on this thread study permit refusal based on home ties and the applicant wasn't a teen.
What do you mean by employment history? I work remotely.

You said you don't have strong home ties as you don't have parents siblings or spouse in Nigeria I only concluded on that basis ....then I said that having employment history and source of income is a stronger factor for study permit application than having family siblings etc for adults.
It is not like application will look weak without family members on file..
In my own application I have family members outside Nigeria with strong ties outside Nigeria with citizenship status..
My Spouse as PA has only one living parent on application no siblings..
Even If you work remotely but you have been living in Nigeria for years and have bank accounts in Nigeria If you do that is economic ties to the country of origin .
There are cases where applicants from Nigeria applied for canada study permit from another country with temporary status and still received approval..
I only commented because you put more weight on not having family members as a weak factor in your case.

Not required for temporary residents application only for permanent residents applications.

I didn’t know anything about it. The agent was trying to package some kind of seminar or whatever for me. It was only later that I realized this mistake had already been made. He didn’t even tell me about it until I asked again for my login details, which he had delayed giving me for more than a year.
I just want to know what my next step should be. Someone here mentioned that I should go ahead with the student visa application, disclose my previous refusal, and leave the rest for the visa officer to decide. Even if it results in a ban afterward, I don’t mind; at least the ban period would start running from then.

Request for atip for full details of applications and all documents submitted with the application and begin from there unless you are already aware!
Even if you escape 5 years ban in next application you will undergo series of refusals for canada visa applications in future if you apply.

Proceed with the application, then prepare and keep a Letter of Explanation in case you receive a PFL after applying.

This is calling for 5 years ban If they sees misrepresentation on previous application and refusals without explanation waiting on file and issue PFL.
Lets assumed the application succeeds with approvals by error which is highly impossible,During the Permanent residence application the IMM 5669 form will require 10 years personal history if they sees inconsistency in all previous temporary resident applications VO will issue PFL after background check and possible 5 years ban and removal directions.

You knew the agent was using fraudulent documents but played along because they "assured" you that it will be approved. You are lucky you didn't chop 5 year ban.

I have seen a lot of these cases including the ones where the applicants deliberately provided false information and documents on their own.

My advise.

Go ahead and submit another application with correct information and documents and leave the rest to the VO to decide.

Each application will be treated based on its merit and I see no sense in explaining too much about the previous visit visa refusal.

Remember to disclose in this new application that you have been denied a visa application to Canada and any other country as the case may be.

When the person say they used agent trying to direct the blame to the agent it is another misrepresentation.

Next application will not be seen as truthful will amount to refusals and scrutiny even if disclosed.
You are lucky to see this at this stage, if that visa was approved IRCC will caught it at PR stage for misrepresentation,If you apply for permanent residence.

You were wrong by giving the OP the impression that her sister is in the best position to sponsor him. What if the OP is applying for Msc and he is married with kids ? What if the OP is a manager in a company for like 10 years and he wanted to go for professional course like STEM-MBA? What if the sister is a step sister ?

The best sponsor (s) for anyone called international student are your biological parents, if you are an undergraduate or an unmarried graduate applicants. The 2nd best sponsor's are your employers which gives any embassy the impression that you have an employment-bond, and lastly your spouse is the 3rd best sponsors. Any other sponsor's including your biological or extended siblings are all shaky sponsor's which the embassies are reluctant to beleive until you proved beyond zero doubt.

Stop answering critical questions with hasty generalization and braggart attitude.

How is spouse 3rd best option for someone that is married,spouse has more weight than any other sponsor if funds are avaliable especially when not travelling with you!

I just changed my home address on my bank while at home. In Nigeria I would need to physically be in the bank, join a long queue, present my NIN and a recent NEPA bill in order to get my home address changed from my account information.

Note: hope you are on a student account better check if not they will charge you upto 16 dollar monthly fee service charge for opening that account in Canada 🇨🇦
If you have multiple accounts here you will be paying multiple services charges all over,not like Nigeria where one person can have upto 5 different bank accounts and receive interest,In canada bank inerest is peanut compare to Nigeria..
Nigeria banks are doing give away on interests.
