immortalcrown: You are wrong. Obi did not say infrastructure is not good. He said infrastructure is not what drives economy. And I have a good proof. Ebonyi State had the lowest cost of living among all Igbo states before 2015. For the past 7 years, the state has gotten many infrastructures. But standard of living has drastically fallen in the same state. There is little or no difference between Ebonyi and other Igbo states now in terms of cost of living. Did the infrastructure provide more jobs or improve education in Ebonyi in the past 7 years? Has the infrastructure reduced the number of Ebonyi youths that run to other states for hawking? Lagos State is another example. Lagos has more infrastructures than most of or all other states in Nigeria. But cost of living is higher in Lagos, both in rent and in food prices. They build roads and flyovers in every area. What happens later? Land become expensive, fraudsters and embezzlers of public funds buy the land and build houses to show their wealth. No other benefits. Foreign engineers are used for the construction of the infrastructures. How many Nigerians secured good jobs because of the infrastructures? Apart from doing menial jobs for the construction companies, what else?
No good roads or flyover in Ibeju Lekki before Dangote situated his refinery there. No good roads and flyover in the local government area where Dangote has cement factory in Benue. The breweries in Enugu are not surrounded by amazing roads and flyovers. But these establishments give Nigerians good jobs. Ebonyi is building roads and flyovers but its indigens do not have good jobs in the quarry sites.
Infrastructure is good and aids economy. But it is not among the major things that drive economy. Stop misquoting Obi. God bless you. |

helinues: The sparking of two stones actually changed the human civilization. Cooking our food build our brains to be more intelligent. Just stone which is around us.
The infrastructure materials are there naturally, building infrastructure requires human effort which translate to job creation for basic
Now, after having all those infrastructure in place, that's when production and investing in people will come proper as you have already created a conducive environment for everything Julius Berger is also local, and has been using local stones to produce bridges? |

abdulwastecx: Abuja has been the capital of Nigeria for 31 years, Is Abuja looking like Dubai today?
Tinubu can lay claim to being the brain behind the establishment of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, a zone that currently housed the largest refinery, fertilizers, deep seaport and so many other factories in Africa. Tinubu can be said to be the brain behind the Eko Atlantic city real estate masterpiece. Tinubu was paramount to the improvement of the internally generated revenue in Lagos that allows the state to be able to modernise and finance other laudable projects. He can also be said to be responsible for developing a template called the master plan of Lagos, a political structure that provides a platform for technocrats to do their thing in making Lagos on of the most developed metropolis in Africa. Compare Abuja with neighbouring Niger state? Then compare Lagos with Anambra, a state which is as new as 1991. Why are you people even making such statements as Tinubu developed Lagos? That's a demarketung post on Tinubu because to whom much is given, more is expected. |

abdulwastecx: In all seriousness, I love the zeal and the tenacity of our Igbo brothers. This is how you play politics. You congregate around an individual push him and possibly forced him down people's throats using propaganda and other lawful means possible. The truth still remains that Peter Obi is not the best person to lead the country in the year 2023.
judging by track records and achievement alone, Tinubu is a better fit. Tinubu understands the economy better, he has instituted more reforms than every political office holder in Nigeria. He'll hit the ground runnings, he has eyes for performers and technocrats alike. These are the qualities needed to lead a country.
All you need is a man with the political will, the understanding of the private sector, a man open to reforms and taking difficult decisions, a man open to institutional reforms and who can assemble the right team to initiate such reforms. It's a no-brainer that Tinubu was able to transfer Lagos and also laid down a framework and political structure that actualize this. Tinubu is the right person to lead this country at this time. Baba, Tinubu cannot hit the ground running, he's still recuperating from the election campaign movements. Tinubu cannot claim the successes in Lagos, if Borno was the capital of Nigeria for 20 years, Borno may be looking like Dubai now. |
Politics › Re: Fashola's Attempt To "School" Peter Obi Gone Wrong by PresidObi: 7:10am On Jul 03, 2022 |
abdulwastecx: You are right! But Fashola's job is limited to the provision of infrastructure, in particular, road infrastructure. He is not saddled with the responsibility of providing security and the management of the fiscal policies of the country. Hence, the provision of easy loans, stable interest rates, and strong security should be directed at the appropriate people responsible for them.
Furthermore, road infrastructure is an important ingredient of production. It enables the movement of goods, services, and raw materials from rural areas to the center of production.
Finally, The second Niger bridge is a crucial infrastructure, an asset that the southeast has been craving for decades. The question is why is it been greeted with a lot of cynicism by people from the region? Is it because it is been built by the wrong party and the Afonja they hate so much? You have completely veered off the topic of discussion Sir. Read the topic again. |

intruder15: Can you compare that to the number of jobs that a production company will employ? Why do you think people are rushing to states with high production companies? Why are people relocating from Nigeria? So you think infrastructure will give more jobs than production?
It's okay to support a candidate. But don't lose your thinking faculty while at it. Leave these people, they will.learn economics from the master when he assumes the presidential seat. You will see Nigeria improve tremendously. |

CrimeKsmart: You reason like an illiterate. Sorry to say if you find it offensive. You don't need to digress, all things being equal, infrastructures will affect the final prices of commodities and that's what Fashola is trying to tell Obi and his supporters.
We all know what affect the present high cost of goods and services which are; price of petroleum,Insurgency, and government policies. But the truth still remains that infrastructures play a major role in the economy too. I wont call you names, I am a Peter Obi supporter so I cannot descend that low. I will wait for Peter Obi to come on the microphone one day, maybe on a debate with other presidential candidates to clear this.point. you will be wowed. |

Golan007: As a farmer, good roads to your farm, construction of silos, bridges, railways, communication etc. would ease and improve your business.
Infrastructure is key. Not as key as security, because we have been farming in this country since 1300 when there were no good roads. But we cannot farm with insecurity. That's why I am talking about enabling environment over infrastructure. |

Politics › Re: Fashola's Attempt To "School" Peter Obi Gone Wrong by PresidObi: 10:12pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
ElSudani: These people are so funny. What Fashola said is the absolute truth. One of the ways to boost employment and the economy is for the government to invest in infrastructure. Obi will rather invest in a brewery though. The best way to improve the economy is to create enabling environment for the masses to take over productive ventures and make profit, then pay tax. Enabling environment like easy loans, stable interest rates, strong security, etc |

And, as i have always maintained, some persons are not fair to Yorubas here. Take a look back at the 2019 elections, PDP almost won the SW. In fact, but for rigging in Osun and voters suppression in Lagos, Atiku may have actually won in the SW. This is SW o with a VP(Osibanjo, who is a likeable person) in the ticket of the APC.
