Three Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, ABU genius students have invented non-smoking charcoal from the Crop waste.

The students who called themselves Brycoal use Crop waste such as Corn stalks and Sugarcane bagasse, rice hulls to produce the non-smoking Charcoal.

They came up with the idea in order to help reduce deforestation which causes Climate change and erosion and also reduce the risk many women are exposed to while cooking with normal Charcoal.

The young Geniuses met at an event where afterwards they discussed and came up with this idea.

It was the Technology Incubation Centre in Kano that helped them actualized their idea through provision of the required equipment as reported by BBCHausa.

They participated in an English creative competition organised at Beyero University Kano and won first position, And subsequently participated in the African Innovation Challenge in which they also won first Position.

That gave them the opportunity to go to England and attend a program meant for training exceptional innovative people.

One of the student is in England where if they are lucky he will give them the opportunity of being among the 6 lucky innovative people to present their innovation to the United Nations.

If they become successful in the competition they might be supported in such a way that in the next 10 years, 10,000 people could be employed through their Innovation.

At the age of 6, Joshua Beckford, who is living with high-functioning autism, became the youngest person to ever attend the prestigious Oxford University in England. Now 13-years old, Beckford is ready to take on more challenges as he sets his sights to be a neurosurgeon and save the earth someday.

Beckford was just 10 months old when his father, Knox Daniel, first discovered that he is not just a typical child. His son was sitting on his lap in front of the computer and he could already memorize and understand letters on a keyboard.

He was 3-years old when he started reading fluently using phonics and speaking Japanese. He taught himself to touch-type on a computer before he could even write.

At the age of four, he played on his dad’s laptop with a body simulator where he would pull out organs. He has been molded so well that he could already deliver PowerPoint presentations tackling human anatomy to audiences of 200 to 3,000 people at community fundraising events.

Daniel knew his son’s brain was too advanced for a standard curriculum. Beckford was homeschooled because he “doesn’t like children his own age and only likes teenagers and adults” and what interests him is ancient Egypt that he is now working on writing a children’s book about it.

In 2011, Daniel found out about a special program that Oxford University offers to children ages 8 to 13. Even though his son was just 6-years old then, he enrolled him to challenge his bright, young mind.

Beckford, who was two years younger than usual applicants, then became the youngest student ever accepted at Oxford University. He took courses in philosophy and history through their online program for gifted children where he got distinctions in all of his classes and was recognized with a certificate.

Moreover, Beckford supports charities and fundraising activities for minorities with autism. He is the face for the National Autistic Society’s Black and Minority campaign, which highlights difficulties that minorities with autism face getting support and services.

He was also recently appointed as the Low Income Families Education (LIFE) Support Ambassador for the Boys Mentoring Advocacy Network in parts of Africa and the United Kingdom. He and his father will participate in a mentoring session and the Father And Son Together (FAST) initiative event in Nigeria in August 2019.

Among his long list of accomplishments, he participated in the TEDx International Conference in Vienna and presented a poem he wrote himself titled “Saving Mother Earth,” advocating for saving the environment, he won the Positive Role model award for his age at the National Diversity Awards in 2017, and he was recognized as one of the top 30 remarkable people in the world with autism.

Daniel admits that parenting a child with high-functioning autism is not always easy. According to him, his son “doesn’t like loud noises and always walks on his tip toes and he always eats from the same plate, using the same cutlery, and drinks from the same cup.”

Despite that, Daniel believes the future is bright for his son, who dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and wants to save the earth.

“I want to save the earth. I want to change the world and change peoples’ ideas to doing the right things about earth,” he told HowAfrica.

Norwegian prince, Prince Haakon visited Al-noor Islamic Center in the contry to show support for the 10 August Shooting Attack. During his visit he tried to shake hand with 3 muslim women but they didn't accept tge handshake.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon visited the Al-Noor Islamic Centre last week to show support after the 10 August shooting attack on the mosque. Many people noticed that three women did not accept the Crown Prince’s outstretched hand as he attempted to greet them.

The Bærum mosque shooting, or the Al-Noor Islamic Centre shooting, was an attack that occurred on 10 August 2019 at the Al-Noor Islamic Centre mosque in Bærum, Norway, about 20 km west of the capital city of Oslo.

One person was injured, and the gunman’s stepsister was later found dead in their family home. The shooter was taken into police custody after being subdued by mosque-goers. The shooting has been described as one attack in a recent “resurgence of white supremacy”.

Waheed Ahmed, information officer at the Al-Noor mosque, told NRK that they were unaware that the women did not want to shake the hand of the Crown Prince. He has now issued an official apology to the Norwegian Crown Prince. He wrote to Norwegian state tv NRK: “We did not want the Crown Prince to end up in that situation, but we did not know that the three women would not handshake. We, therefore, apologise to the Crown Prince that this happened.”

Waheed Ahmed, information officer at the Al-Noor mosque, also says that the management of the mosque visit was discussed in a meeting with the staff of the Royal Court the day before the visit, and then, they went through possible scenarios.

Mr Ahmed said: “Hand greetings were not in our minds and therefore did not become a topic that was raised. Had we known in advance that the women would not handshake, we would have informed the Crown Prince about it, but it was completely unknown to us that they would not.”

In Islamic culture, women do not shake the hands of men for religious reasons. Instead, they opt to place their hands over their hearts as a form of greeting.

However, many Norwegians and those in the Muslim community have described the act as disrespectful. The Royal Court commented on the case Monday evening, and they published through NRK the following statement:

“The Crown Prince experienced the visit to the Al-Noor mosque after the terror attack as strong, and that the meeting with all the participants was warm and respectful. Together with the representatives of the Islamic Council of Norway and the Al-Noor mosque, they talked about how we can together build a society where everyone can feel safe and free”.

Kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala, popularly known as Wadume, has claimed he can no longer have sex, as he lost his manhood in the incident in which three policemen and a civilian were allegedly killed by soldiers.


The suspected kidnapper is undergoing interrogation since the day he was rearrested in Kano by police detectives.

A source told The Nation that “Wadume is giving a lot of information, and most of his revelations are true. But as a criminal, some of his information are half-truth.”

Wadume said that he has observed that his penis no longer erects.

Wadume, 34, has four wives and four children with two of the wives. “The other two are yet to conceive,” he said.

He narrated: “I was arrested by the police in Ibi on August 7. The police said I am a kidnapper and they handcuffed my hands and legs.

“On our way, we passed through an army checkpoint and after identification, they allowed us to go. We passed the second checkpoint which had mobile policemen and they also allowed us to pass.

“At the third checkpoint, we wasted a little time but they allowed us to go after the policemen told them they were detectives on assignment.

“Five minutes after we left that point, an army patrol vehicle started shooting at us. Our vehicle got hit, summersaulted severally times and crashed.

“When the bus stopped, all of us came out alive, except for bullet wounds. A bullet hit part of my scrotum.

“When I ran to my uncle in Kano state, he called a doctor to treat the bullet wound that affected my private part.

“It is possible, I cannot use it (manhood) again because of the damage and I have discovered that when I wake up in the morning these days, I no longer have erection.”

“Although, I did not ask soldiers to kill the policemen or anyone, I was happy when they rescued me. But I am happier now that the police have arrested me alive, instead of killing me,” he said.

“I am not a kidnapper, but I supply arms to different gangs. I make enough money as a supplier of riffles. I know I have committed a crime selling guns, but I am willing to change for good.”
