Popular Nigerian singer, Wizkid only had time for two women on his page whom he acknowledged for the worldwide mothers day festival.

The singer took to his social media to celebrate his mum and his last babymama, Jada Pollock as the only two amazing women in his life while he sidelined his first two wives, Shola and Binta, the mothers of his first two boys, Tife and Ayo Jnr.

Despite the striking resemblance the boys share with their dad, Wizkid couldn't take a minute to celebrate their mums on his page due to limited space.

Veteran actor, Olusegun Akinremi, better known as Chief Kanran, has lambasted actors in the English section of the movie industry.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Akinremi said it was hard for indigenous actors to cross over to making English movies. He stated, “They said cinema movies must be done in English. That is okay with me but we should not forget that most Yoruba actors are not cross-over actors. Also, English actors have turned themselves to gods and they now claim that Nollywood was started by them, which is untrue. It is not easy for a Yoruba actor to feature in English movies because you must be able to read the script and deliver your role perfectly.”

Kanran added that though there were some graduates in the Yoruba movie industry who could play English roles very well, opportunities were limited.

The actor also said there is no reason to be afraid for his health, maintaining that he majorly got money from commercials, not acting. He stated, “To God be the glory, I’m hale and hearty. But for the adverts and jingles that I do, it would have been hard for me (to survive) because acting doesn’t put food on my table anymore. Most of my colleagues who borrowed money to shoot movies are yet to pay back. Piracy has really affected us and people don’t buy these films like they used to. Also, Nigerians only come to an actor’s aid when he or she is about to die. We should celebrate our heroes when they are still alive.

“I still go to locations but I do more of soap operas these days. I did two recently. I also have scripts I plan to produce myself but I’m afraid of piracy. I don’t think there’s anyone who wants to venture into a business and there will be nothing to show for it at the end of the day.”

On his present marital status, Kanran stated that he didn’t want to talk about it. “I know what this has caused me. I’ve learnt a lot from my past experiences,” he stressed.

A man has called off his wedding on the grounds of infidelity, after accusing his fiancee of having sex with a Catholic priest.

McDonald Majaya, 32, from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe told The Chronicle that he found out about the alleged affair between his fiancee Rutendo Mudzingwa, 24, and her priest, Father Itai Mangenda, after he stumbled on WhatsApp chats between.

Majaya accused the priest of carrying on an affair with his girlfriend since February last year.

He said

I discovered that the two were in a relationship since last year and we have been having misunderstandings with my girlfriend over the issue. This is unacceptable, how can a priest who vowed not to marry interfere with my relationship?

I don’t know what to do because right now, I’m really hurt. This is disturbing especially considering that l was putting my all into the relationship and was thinking of paying something (bride price) in April.

Mujaya also alleged that the priest’s brother who is also a priest based in Bulawayo attempted to bribe him not to expose the affair.

He said:

His brother first offered me US$300 and l rejected it. He even increased the offer to $500 but l could not trade my life for that. This is my life for goodness’ sake.

When reached for comment, Father Mujaya denied the allegations saying:

I know her as a believer and l once went to their home to visit her sick grandmother. The problem is with the girl. If people are over-excited they start thinking that they are in love but that’s not the case. I am her priest and she is a believer.

Please do not write such stories. Imagine they will be read everywhere and that will tarnish my image. This is a planned lie meant to tarnish my image.

I was born in Lagos to a father from Edo State and an Itsekiri (Delta State) mother but I like to claim to be from Lagos because that’s where I was born. I have three siblings – two sisters and a brother. We were a middle class family but very comfortable. My parents ensured that our educational foundation was very strong. It was an amazing experience growing up with my siblings, especially with my brother being autistic.

Education

For my elementary education, I attended Corona Primary School, Gbagada, Lagos. I actually attended three secondary schools and finished from Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos. I graduated from Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, where I bagged a Bachelor in Sociology. After that, I underwent the National Youth Service Corps scheme in Ibadan, Oyo State. Right after my service, I enrolled at the University of Chester in London, United Kingdom, where I obtained a Master in Human Resources Management.

Corporate career

After obtaining my master, I moved back to Nigeria and worked as an HR manager for about six months at a procurement company. And I believe those were the worst six months of my life. I knew that that wasn’t where I wanted to be. I knew I belonged to the entertainment industry and that is where I wanted to be. Before I quit my job after those six months, I had started an event management company and I did a few courses at weekends, trying to learn about the industry. I like planning parties and did a few under my event management company.

Acting

While I was still trying to discover myself, I used to be a video vixen and I appeared in Adekunle Gold’s Sade video which required a bit of acting. When people saw my performance, they encouraged me to pursue acting, which I had never considered before then. So, I agreed to the idea and started attending auditions.

My first time on set was for the movie, Aso Ebi, which got converted to a TV series. I felt like I was going to die. I had no idea what to do. I was so tense that I didn’t get my lines right. I have been acting for a little over three years and I’ve learnt to be patient and persevere. There is also a lot of competition although there really isn’t the need for that. I’ve learnt to accept things the way they are.

Parents’ reaction

My parents wanted me to work as they had spent a lot of money on my education; so, when I came back to Nigeria, they got a corporate job for me, but they later realised I was very unhappy there. When I told them I wanted to go into acting fully, my mum was supportive because she had always encouraged me to do what I want, as long as it’s right and I’m happy. My dad, however, refused. He called a family meeting on the issue and reported me to my uncles and aunties. When he eventually saw my projects, he was very proud of me.

Breakthrough

The movie that gave me great recognition is The Real Side Chic, where I played the character, Keke, alongside Daniel Lloyd. When I got the script, I loved it because it was an interesting story. A fascinating fact is that it was the first time I kissed in a movie and it was very awkward.

Fears

I worried that I wasn’t doing well and that people would perceive my acting as poor or fake, and that my last movie would be my last movie because no one would call me for a role again.

Efe Irele Autism Foundation

My younger brother is autistic and that spurred my interest in starting the foundation. That enlightened me at an early age to know what autism was. Interestingly, my mum used to instil the understanding of what my brother had in me; ensuring I took him out without being ashamed of him. I realise that many people neglect autistic people and sometimes even stigmatise them.

Going to the UK to study gave me a further exposure on autism and how the Nigerian society treats people living with such in comparison to those overseas. I started the foundation in 2017 and inaugurated it with a programme called Christmas with the Family, which is an annual event.

Hobbies

Acting has completely taken over my life that I don’t have hobbies anymore. I used to love swimming but I don’t do that anymore. I spend my free time being around my family nowadays. I also love going to the club and dancing. I always hang out with my brother; he is everything to me!

I am all about comfort.

For the past week, the Internet has been awash with interviews granted by Kukere singer, Iyanya, and his former record label boss and friend, Ubi Franklin. Iyanya had claimed that Ubi cheated him while they were establishing the label, Made Men Music Group.

According to Iyanya, though he signed all relevant documents, he was shocked to find out that his name was not on the documents submitted at the Corporate Affairs Commission. Shortly after, Ubi released some documents that actually contained Iyanya’s name.

Meanwhile, some were quick to say that Iyanya was using the scandal to push himself back to reckoning. But in a chat with Sunday Scoop, the singer said that wasn’t his motive. He said, “I just want to focus on music. Right now, my major focus is on my new record label, Violet 360. I was actually doing a media tour for the new label before I got blindsided with the whole Ubi story; that was never meant to be the focus. I see it as a distraction. People can think whatever they like; I have no control over that. I just finished recording a song with Duncan Mighty and I would prefer we focus on that. Very soon, I will be putting out an Extended Play album titled, The Rebirth.”

On why he just decided to start a label instead of when he left MMMG some years ago, Iyanya said, “Don’t worry, I’m going to tell my story soon, probably in a book or TV series; that way, I can make money off it. People have been asking me a lot of questions about that but I will like to keep mum for now.”

Reacting to claims that he decided to feature Duncan Mighty to revive his career considering that Duncan is making waves at the moment, Iyanya said, “Duncan Mighty has always been someone I admire. I respect his talent. Many people think I did the collaboration because Duncan is trending at the moment. But these same people forgot that I did a song with him about five years ago. We were just together recently and we decided to make another song together; and that’s how the latest single came about.”

Speaking on what informed the title of his forthcoming EP, the singer said, “I just want the work to speak for itself. But I feel fresh and renewed. I am the new king and I have put in a lot of hard work into this. I have also missed my fans, just like they have missed me, and this is an opportunity for them to see me in a new light.”

Meanwhile, when Sunday Scoop reached out to Ubi Franklin, he refused to shed light on Iyanya’s allegations. He simply said, “Go to CAC and look for the documents. I am not interested in talking about it.”
