Nigeria even needs to slow down on tax for now to encourage people to create opportunities for others. Nigeria can focus on VAT of pleasurable and leasure items for now, lower company income tax and very low personal income tax for the very wealthy. If u have strong purchasing power citizens, u can make a lot of money from VAT. Nigeria needs a way to stabilize her citizens to have strong income. Anything foolish taxation now is completely counter productive. Here is why: The guy making 25m per year surely have many responsibilities since the country has more and more poor people: he has parents to support, siblings to support, spouce to support, maybe friend here and there who need one support or the other often. Before u know it, u have spent a lot. Agberos alone who know u, they often ask u for one help or the other. So, it is crazy that these men think they can simply carry european style and inpose on a country like Nigeria that has peculiar challenges. I laugh at their tax stuff. Nigeria has housing crises. People need to earn more to build house. So, cut out any taxation tat makes house building hard. Start personal income tax at 70m income per year and make it lower. We need more houses, so, people need to be encouraged to build.

With regards to earning abroad and paying tax in Nigeria, then it means you do not know how tax works. Tax is paid to state/ country oof residence. And for your information, if you are a citizen of US, you are expected to pay tax to the USA even if you do not stay in the US. What that means is that, if you are a citizen of US, you will pay tax in Nigeria and stll pay tax in the US. A Nigerian staying in the US does not have to pay tax in Nigeria but as long as you stay in Nigeria, you are to pay tax, that is how it is done everywhere else in the world.

You keep saying you provide this your povide that, I have told you that paying tax does not mean you will not pay for those things. You want to tell me that if the natonal grid goes down you do not care? If it affects you then you do not 100% provide power for yourself. Estate security like I told you is a choice, in fact, is it those boys that if they steal your car you will go and report to? It is still the police you will depend on.

U dont get it.. we have been paying tax, we have oil, we have gas, we have gold, we have lithium, we have a lot, agric lands, water, endless water, endless lands, we have a lot that most of these countries dont have and we have been paying tax. Secondly, their population is less than 4 million. That is less than the full population of Ebonyi State. Do you know how much crude oil they produce, 1.8 million barrels the same as Nigeria as at today. Nigeria has 250M crude produced that 250M people have to share whereas only 4M Qataris have to share those proceeds, so do you see how unfair the comparison is?

Things like SUV and co move the needle just a little, but that is not the reason for you to start lying that you do things yourself so you will not pay tax because the countries you were referencing pay tax and have everything laid out for them. People pay tax and still pay for services. Tax does not mean that things will be given to you for free.

You can say that the investment in health care should be more but to claim nothing is being done is a big lie. Also, if you and everybody refused to pay tax, where will the money come from. Ask your AY friend if he does not pay tax where he is.

Yes, nothing is been done with our money. 99% of Nigerians still dig bore hole, install solar, buy fuel for generator, will die if they need emergency health attendance, no fire service, no good roads, public schools are in total mess. So, tell me, what is the gain of the entire trillions made out of our soils, the VAT generated, the company income tax, the various levies and taxes Nigerians pay. What exactly do we do with them? The closest to funded healthcare is UK with NHIS, to be able to do that they have to cough out as much 45% tax. Not neglecting all the other tax they pay, including TV tax. In the US for example, without health insurance, you will pay through your nose, If Nigeria start charging as much as an equivalent of 200k to treat malaria, will you not shout? Once in a while, ask them to show you their health bill in the US, for something as simple as a one-hour physio, you will hear as much 2k USD if not more. The UK, which I believe you are talking about, go and check how long it takes to schedule an appointment just to see a GP.

He does not dig borehole, true, ask him to show you his monthly water bill, even though he pays that enormous tax, so nothing is free, not in the west, not in Nigeria. You lied. Quatar doesnt pay a single tax but has better lives in everything. As a resource rich country, we already have company income tax, Value added tax, money from oil, gas, gold, and rare earth minerals. So, from VAT alone, nigeria made trillions, not to talk of company income tax.

You think the countries you are referencing in terms of electricity do not still pay for electricity after paying tax? How much do you make that you pay up to 24%? If you pay up to 24% then your income has to be among the top bracket, so you think government should not earn from your income but can take from traders who earn far less.

All the things you claim you do for yourself here, the people abroad pay for them there. So what is the difference? You think after paying tax everything becomes free?

The people abroad use quality govt funded healthcare.. My friend had cancer and I know if she was in Nigeria, she would have died. So, STF. My friend, AY, uses govt school for his 5 year old son in the Uk. Go and send ur child to govt school here. he doesnt pay estate security. He doesnt dig bore hole and uses gen to pump water. Yes, these are the stuff. I do provide my own water, I provide my own electricity, I provide my own healthcare, I drive on a useless road. Do u want to see video of where I drive every single day? So, what does govt do with our natural resources and all the other taxes they make from us? To fund them selves, right? While Nigeria has some of the highest poverty rate in the world, she has some of the richest politicians on earth. That alone is fraud!!

I worked so hard in this country, started making money online after paying for all types of trainings. I had to battle network, data, electricity. After graduation, no reasonable job. Learning tech skill was the touchest and darkest phase of my life 6 years ago. There were days I trecked to training center. The country was total mess because there was no support for young people. U were left alone.
Okay, finally started seeing some changes when some clients abroad found me worthy to work with. My life started having meaning, I could afford some basic luxuries. Then Nigerian tax law then didnt demand that income earned outside Nigeria to be taxed in income tax. It made hiring us easier and cheaper. Which was our core strategy to secure clients online.
This moda fuka big eyes came on board, changed tax law to include Nigerians who earned income world wide to pay income tax aside other form of taxes we are already paying. This does not change our country status as 3rd world country which means we still get paid not same rate as those in first world countries. But this man get mind, not 5%, but up to 24% of ur income.
The idea behind world wide income tax is that the citizens enjoy facilities that tax income builds such as electricity, good roads, healthcare, quality public school, running water.
But I am the one to provide quality healthcare, education, estate security, we drive in terrible roads. As someone who earn outside Nigeria, the tax law by thhis man is pure robbery. I hate him with deep passion. He copied UK in world wide income but forgot that UK residents enjoy quality public school. My friends in the UK use public school for their kids. U cant try that here. The govt schools here are breeding ground for becoming useless. I still have to pay for estate security becus the police force is wack. I still dig borehole to get water and use gen with expensive fuel to pump the water. Healthcare, govt facilities are mess, u go die if u need em. My uncle died few days ago becus no bed space at 3 hospitals. Mehn, watching his wife weep pained us. Damn! See eh, I have never voted in my entire life. I registered this time, my self and my entire family. This man cant see one vote from me. He is horrible, greedy and very heartless. He is an elitist. This man took policies that wrecked my purchasing power. I cant do what I could do few years back.

This is exactly what I have been saying: the man is an elitist. Elitists are very dangerious becasue they simply favour elites who in return help him hold down the masses. He is the first unpopular president outside his region, even within his region, he is mainly popular in Lagos and few states. The rest of the states and regions, he is counting on people such as Wike, Apkabio, Umahi, Uzodinma, etc to do the works for him. Those ones in return will fund some strategic people who will in return offer small hope to the poor masses who make up the highest voting block. He doesnt really need to make u the masses happy.
