Even those earning relatively well are affected this time. You will only escape if you are truly rich—if you have reached a certain level of wealth, with assets worth at least 200 million. If your cash inflow is less than 100 million, you will not enjoy a good standard of living here anymore.

Under Buhari, yes, you could still live fine. I recently checked the price of my car, which I bought for 8 million under Buhari—it is now between 12 and 14 million. This regime has wiped out the middle class. Only the upper-middle class, the rich, and the wealthy are safe now. The reason is that these groups push the economic burden downward onto the mid-middle class.

Now, Tinubu supporters will always tell you that the measures he took were necessary because Nigeria was collapsing, and that they inherited a failed economy. But the economy they inherited came from their own party. APC was in power for eight solid years—did they admit at the time that they were doing badly? No.

Also, the problems of this country were caused by the political ruling class across all parties. Many APC members were formerly in PDP and ruled for 16 years. None of these policies will affect the politicians, so why must the sacrifice be made by the masses who did not participate in the destruction of Nigeria? Why should I suffer and sacrifice for Nigeria when I did not destroy it, while those who did continue to enjoy?

This is the part I do not understand. On average, Nigerian politicians live in massive luxury. They do not understand what it means to lack fuel—the state always provides it for them. If they want solar installations, they go for the best and most expensive systems that can serve them for over 10 years, while the masses struggle to afford systems costing between 1 million and 5 million naira.

The ruling class, both past and present, along with their families, do not sacrifice anything. Why?

Why should I suffer for what I did not create, while those who created it do not suffer for it?

Some politicians are still enjoying their looted wealth to this day, and some have even transferred it to the next generation. So why must I suffer? I am not wrong to say I will not suffer for Nigeria. I did not create the problem, so no one should make me suffer for it. Policicians must participate in the sacrfice and should participate more.

I would have gladly supported taxes and other policies if they significantly affected politicians, but they do not. These people have access to enormous amounts of public funds, and no one seems willing to challenge them.

Have you ever looked at the pay packages of these politicians? Someone once told me about a commissioner in an oil-producing state who is now worth billions. These politicians may even rival the wealth of global billionaires. They have no innovation, no global products, no scientific contributions—yet they are extremely rich.

It was said that the late owner of Diamond Bank had over 100 luxurious properties in the UK alone. Do you think he is the only one? These politicians have accumulated wealth that could last generations. They have properties all over the world. They destroyed Nigeria—the masses did not. So why must the same ordinary people pay for the damage while politicians walk free? The masses are victims of the havoc created by the politicians for the past 60 years.

They say the tax policies will not affect the poor. Yet the “poor” threshold is set at 800,000 to 1.2 million per year. Tinubu even classifies people earning 25 million per year as high earners. In Nigeria, that income does not guarantee a decent standard of living. As a private citizen who works hard, you deserve a good life—you deserve quality education for your children and a comfortable lifestyle. So, 25m per year is not executive earning. To live comfortably in most state capitals, to rent an apartment alone that can be classified as executive apartment, that your 25m per year maybe cut into 2 alone for house rent. So, why call my income execative when my standard of life is not executive? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE TO ME, PLEASE.

But somehow, the ruling class believes these same citizens should bear all the sacrifices. Tell me—how does this suffering affect Tinubu, Buhari, Obasanjo, governors, senators, commissioners, or ministers? They are protected by state resources funded by the suffering masses.

If Tinubu truly meant well, he would have started by holding past leaders accountable and recovering stolen funds—across all regions and parties. That recovered money alone could significantly fix Nigeria’s electricity problem.

If he were serious, he would push policies to drastically reduce the cost of governance, cut political salaries and crazy packages they get, and require politicians to use public services like government schools and hospitals. If they do not want that, then they should not be in government. There must be serious consequencies for public corruption, such as death penalty before I can take any president serious.

Instead, fuel subsidy was removed—a benefit that, even if small, helped ordinary people—only for the money to be redistributed to politicians, who continue to misuse it. How does that make sense?

An okada rider loses the little support he had, while the funds are handed to governors with no accountability. There is no strategy, no structure, no plan to prevent corruption, waste, or nepotism. The small benefits the masses had are gone, and the money is now in the hands of those who caused the problem in the first place. I do not understand the logic in this.

I am not ready to sacrifice for a country whose problems I did not create while those responsible are exempted. My children deserve the same quality of life that politicians’ children enjoy.

I will only be willing to sacrifice when there is real accountability—when past leaders are held responsible, stolen wealth is recovered, governance costs are reduced, and political privileges are cut.

Until then, I do not see any fairness in asking the masses alone to bear the burden. I WILL NOT SACRIFICE UNTIL CORRUPTION BY PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDERS IS MET WITH DEATH PENALTY. POLITICIANS MUST USE PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS, FAIRNESS MUST BE A MUST INCLUDING ELECTIONS. FUNDS RECOVERED MUST BE INVESTED IN FIXING ELECTRICITY, SOLVING HOUSING PROBLEMS AND ENSURING THAT LOANS ARE EASY TO OBTAIN FOR BUSINESSES AND HOUSING PROJECTS.

This is also another thing most of u miss. Income tax will tax u on ur income, not how much u saved. Nigerians earn way more than the 500k but the problem is that the country is very expensive compared to income generated.
Also, the country due to having larger population of extremely poor and struggling people, the 20m u earned in a year will varnish because u have parents to care for, u have siblings who may still be struggling, u get babe who needs u, married men with kids are worse, 30m per year is not even enough go live comfortably with one wife and two kids. U will struggle. Dont forget u have parents, siblings, inlaws, even friends that will always ask for help, and u cant abandon them. In Nigeria, at the end, u cant save a kobo. So, not having 500k in the account is not same as earning. The income tax will tax ur 30m without minding if u were able to meet ur needs as a man. I can give u a proper break down. The problem is that most Nigerians arent smart to really understand.
Let me give u an example: Let say u make 25m per year and out of that 25m, u spent about 2.5 on generating electricity and nepa bills. Then before now, u werent paying income tax due to foreign sourced income tag.
Now, inflation is higher and everything has increased more than 500 percent due to fuel subsidy removal. this means serious pressure on ur 25m income. Let say before now, u could send ur two kids to school where they were paying 150k per term. u know how much that is it a year, right?
With theh inflation, the schools increased their school fee to 200k per term and u have two kids. Then everything u ever bought previously has increased significantly including rents. U are still earning 25m o per year.
Now, Tinubu wants share of ur 25m Dont forget the other tax u are paying from that same 25m. Based on calculation since u sourced income abroad, ur tax bracket is high since deductables arent much at all. So, u maybe paying up to 6.5 to 7m as tax. So, if u remove 6m from 25m u have 19m left. Now, Tinubu didnt solve the electricity issue. The 2.5m u spent previously to solve ur electricity issue in a year has risen to over 4.5m now, So, u will still attend to that issue.
Tinubu didnt fix public schools, so u have to pay 200k per child for ur kids school per term. Also, if u were able to have some few days off to relax and enjoy ur sweat previously, u cant do that anymore as ur income has been cut short.
U have options: remove ur kids from the good school and find cheapers ones for them, stop ur mini vacation, etc. U need to do all these cuts to pay Tinubu and his team ur income tax which maybe over 6m from 25m earning for most people who work online, therent much deductables.
It also means ur parent needs which u met previously, u may struggle to meet them. It means u may work like an elephant and harvest like an ant. Bro, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Nigeria should just kill me

Those few people shouldnt be taxed that heavily. A lot of those working online earn that and more. Yes, many software developers with one or two gigs a year easily will earn that. Many affiliate marketers, bloggers, content creators, etc. These are hustles that citizens fought so hard from nothing with no state benefit to build. They should be left alone. They made the income abroad, with mostly their own generated electricty, water, security, drive on terrible roads. It is pure wickedness to extract up to 25 percent from these people. These whole stress and sleepless nights caused me to be diagnozed of high blood pressure early, such a young guy. I never gave up, and suddenly some clients abroad started seeing me and started hiring me, my life started changing. I did it all alone. These b$stared what a cut? From where? They better be contended with the tax i pay via VAt, they already earn well from that, the tax i pay on imported items, banks, etc, no federal govt stuff is free, we pay for all of them including driver license.

Tinubu removed all the subsidies that kept Nigerian economy stable.


He removed subsidy on electricity tariff and increased tariff in what they tagged band a, b, c, d, e, etc even as electricity supply worsened.



Tinubu removed subsidy on tertiary education in Nigeria and school fees was increased abnormally and he then cunningly introduced his so called student loan to cover it up.

Tinubu increased land use charge especially in Lagos. This was part of the reason for increase in house rents because landlords now pay more money to Lagos state government for building house in Lagos than before so they need to realize the money from tenants.


Tinubu introduced indirect taxes via bank extra charges on transfers Nigerians do hourly on their accounts. Go and check how many alerts you receive when you transfer ordinary 1000 naira to another account.



He increased import duty on vehicles even when Nigeria does not manufacture vehicles. Same on building materials which made building house in Nigeria now for the billionaires only.


Nigerians were still struggling to survive all these wicked levies and taxes he went and brought his new tax law to tax poverty in Nigeria comparing us with UK and France, etc when over 65% of Nigerians are living in abject poverty and being supported by the few financial buoyant family members and relatives Tinubu decided to overtax to raise more money for his government to steal.

He still didnt solve electricity issue. This means that if I was spending 2m on electricity due to gen per year two years ago, I will be spending roughly 6m yearly now with the current reality due to over 500% hike in everything including fueling.
Now, he wants to take 23percent of my personal income which is roughly 7m plus. So, if u remove 7m from 30m, I have 23m left.
From that 23m, I will have to deal with electricity issue which is now costing me roughly 6m yearly, right?
He still didnt fix healthcare for me, I still need to handle fucking expensive healthcare from the balance, I still need to take care of my spouce, my parent, i still need to handle my kid quality education. From the look of thhings, the 23m balance cant meet all of these because they were stull i handled with 30m previoulsy.
It means somethings need to go away: I cant afford vacation anymore, I may have to remove my child from quality school he was attending before. I may have to reduce the support I provide for my aged parents, I have to sell my V6 negine car and look for cheaper ones. So, can u see, this man wrecked middle class down. Guy, I am running mad! I am running mad, I am fucking frustrated.
If u wanted to create a policy that would cause over 450% in price hike, ensure u provide the core base to save ur middle class, middle class is extremely important in the society. I cant go to places I used to go anymore. Leasure and pelasure busiensses are suffering low purchase now.
He could have done this in phases: remove 20 percent, use the money to tackle electricity while dealing with corruption brutally. Tinubu is politician pleasers. That is bloody. This is what he calls capacity. Like, feeding few men and women with opportunities who will end up to manipulate the masses for him. That is bullsheet. How can u remove fuel subsidy, float naira, introduced expensive and broader tax that chokes the informal sector all in the same ruling year? without fixing vital things? At least if u had fixed electricity, we will be dealing with fuel for car alone. U removed fuel subsidy, u didnt fix electricity, so we need fuel for both car and electricity. That is too much. I spend roughly 250k monthly on fueling my car and generators. This has affected my purchasing power badly.
During corrupt regime of fuel subsidy, I wasnt spending any close to this, so i had more money in my purchsing power to spend on other things. I want u to present to me a superior argument than what i have presented.
