There is no need dashing governors money. No one will be useful when u dash them money, simple. If u cant practice regional govt let everuone mine their own resources and handle their income, then take back the money dashed to governors and put them directly where Nigerians in general will feel it. The same money u gave governors, use that money to subsidize our fuel, period.

Let me give u a simple break down.
To comfortably buy bottle water which is sold between 1600 to 2k in Nigeria today for a family of 4 (husband, wife, two kids) per month, you need at least 10 packs. That is roughly 1700 multiplied by 10. That is the least u can buy and u definately will need more. That is almost 20k alone on water. A family that earns 500k per month wont go for that then, they will go for satchet water. That is what your likes celebrate. You celebrate when most Nigerians live in abject poverty and ridiculous lower standard.
We havent mentioned how much u need to purchase meat for such family size per month if u must feed well on protain.. U havent mentioned how much u need to spend on eggs per month for such family to meet up required quantity.
By the time u add internet subscription for wife and husband if they arent going for unlimited which they wont even go in the first place due to shortage of cash. U know how much is left for transportation, feeding, and saving for house rent? On top of that, u will tax such family up to 18 percent income tax aside VAT. Th$nder will fire una types

If we are going to claim that Nigeria is broke, then that reality must also be reflected in the salaries, allowances, and benefits of politicians.

You should have put the right structures in place before imposing this burden on Nigerians. As Atiku rightly said, this is like punishing Nigerians for the incompetence of the ruling class. They created the problem, yet they are largely shielded from its consequences. Meanwhile, ordinary Nigerians are paying heavily for it.

There are many loopholes in Nigeria's democracy that should have been addressed before implementing these policies. You are taking money and distributing it to governors, yet there are still no effective systems in place to combat corruption and embezzlement.

How does that make sense?

One governor spent ₦1.5 billion on a mass wedding program. Another spent almost ₦1 billion on church outreach. The federal government is budgeting ₦15 billion for SUVs. How can a country claim to be broke while spending public funds this way?

If you are truly serious about reform, we should be cutting more than 60% of the allowances, benefits, and excessive packages given to politicians. We should enact stronger anti-corruption laws and, more importantly, enforce them without compromise.

We should be investing heavily in education so that families do not have to depend on expensive private schools. That would significantly reduce the cost of raising a family.

We should be fixing electricity so that the impact of fuel subsidy removal is reduced. Right now, Nigerians need fuel to power their cars, homes, and businesses. In a functional country, fuel should mainly be for transportation, not for generating electricity.

We should be fixing local government roads to reduce vehicle maintenance costs. We should be seeing improvements in healthcare and other essential services. These are the kinds of things subsidy savings should be funding—not luxury, waste, and reckless spending.

Today, a grown man with a family begged me for ₦1,000.

Mr. President, this is too much.

If things continue this way, history will judge your administration very harshly. Did you cut the cost of governance? Did you reduce the extravagant benefits enjoyed by politicians?

Who convinced us that we need two chambers of the National Assembly when, in practice, they often pass whatever the executive wants? Why are we maintaining both at such enormous cost?

The same question applies to many State Houses of Assembly. In many cases, they merely rubber-stamp the decisions of governors.

The ideals behind these institutions are important, but in Nigeria, those ideals are often not being upheld. These are the conversations we should have been having.

Why should states that ban or restrict industries that generate significant VAT revenue still benefit from revenue generated elsewhere without accountability? These are some of the difficult questions we must address.

How do we stop governors from running to the Senate to avoid being investigated?

How do we ensure investigations are efficient, non-partisan, and ruthless against corruption?

We failed to tackle the core issues. Instead, we keep saying Nigeria needs more money while politicians continue to live large. That is the contradiction many Nigerians can no longer ignore.

Then we are taxed more while losing nearly every benefit that democracy is supposed to provide.

As it stands today, if I needed emergency healthcare services, I could very well die because such services are either unavailable or unreliable. My generator repairer recently lost his home to a fire. No fire service came when it mattered. They arrived only after the fire had finished its work.

You cannot get security assistance quickly. In many cases, you cannot get it at all. If your phone is stolen and you go to the police station, there is a good chance you will be asked for money before any action is taken. Ordinary Nigerians are largely left to fend for themselves when it comes to security.

Please, sir, we know politicians are often viewed as heartless and disconnected from the suffering of the people. But can this hardship at least be tempered with some compassion and care, even if only a little?

Because if we continue down this path, there may not be much of a country left for the children we are raising today. Poverty on this scale will inevitably fuel insecurity. When a monthly income of ₦500,000 cannot guarantee a family a decent standard of living, it should force a serious reconsideration of current policies.

Sir, please consider the plea of ordinary Nigerians. The burden is becoming unbearable, and many people are running out of hope.

I was practically against the total removal of the subsidy from the start, especially hearing the rogue governors will start earning more money.

The lies then was that we are going to get many packages but the likes of Lagos State government only subsidized BRT fare for few months and also stopped their kangaroo lake rice sales for few weeks.

Increase VAT on luxury stuff so that those who can afford will pay. Cut down on your useless 24 percent income tax because most who will suffer for it ate the average and struggling to build citizens which makes no sense.
