So also, war and selling weapons have always been ways US prop up her economy by trying to balance her trade deficit.
In the absence of war and weapons to sell, the lifestyle of the US, the hourly pay of workers and so many more is not sustainable and they will always have a huge trade deficit with other manufacturing countries.
So to balance the trade, they have to create wars and supply if possible both sides weapons, give aids etc and all these money are -
1. Not leaving the shores of US. It will reflect in their trade balance that they used those money to produce weapons and aids supplied to the fighting parties thereby allowing them to write off some deficits.
2. The supplied parties eg. Ukraine after the war would have to pay back for yearssssssss a money she actually not received, rather an over priced weapon she now needs to start paying back with physical resources like oil, grains, uraniums etc.
3. Most destroyed areas would be reconstructed by American companies and allies thereby keeping their companies afloat and in jobs, creating jobs for their citizens as expats, and getting returns as tax and capital flight or return back to US.
4. The weapons sold are over bloated in price.
You are receiving a weapon that shouldn't cost more than 5,000 but been given at 100,000 to pay back with your sweat and generations for years, if possible use it as a medium of holding your country in hostage and forcefully changing your country's laws to abide and favour US.
It is a very big industry for US with a well tested cash generating system year in, year out.
Zelensky is putting the unborn Ukrainians in chains that will take forever for them to come out from.
The US is not stupid picking him as a president.
It is a calculated and we'll spent money.
They have checked the profiles of people that possibly fits that plan and zelensky a comedian actually fits it perfectly and doing a very nice job.
And they already have so many countries lined up to sustain their economy for years to come.
If Ukraine/Russia war goes down, they need to activate the china/Taiwan own after.
Iran/Isreal own as also been primed down. When they are ready, they can always activate it too and more countries are still coming into the plan.
They won't stop, it is not possible for them
Until the great reset.

1. Ability to leave and enter your country at will.
2. Internet to communicate with Non-Nigerians anywhere in the world.
3. Ability to conduct online business with whoever from anywhere in the world.
4. You can determine your future. As bad as our economy is, many smart youths are taking advantage of IT, freelancing, E-commerce, content creation, agribusiness value chain businesses and other business to find success instead of bitching about the government. North Koreans don't have that luxury.
5. We can criticise our government with zero consequences
6. We can choose to be an ingrate for the freedom we enjoy and insult our motherland - Dem no born any single North Korean living in North Korea to do that.

To show growth/deterioration of the common man's purchasing power viz-a-viz the minimum wage changes.
.
It's an unfair act. 2015-2019 was relatively better than 2019-2013, and so far so good, both of the above better than 2023 to present.

Secondly, there has been a huge difference between 2015 and 2023.

Lastly, foodstuffs and consumer goods pre-2023 are well off compared to post 2023.

So grouping them together is unfair practice since you seperated 2007-2010 from 2011-2014. (Huge growth/deterioration can be pointed out here too vis-a-vis purchasing power and minimum wage)

I think we are not sufficiently aware of Russia's restraint in this conflict. In two years, the number of civilian casualties - about 30,000 - is comparable to the number of civilian casualties in four or five months of the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, the number of military casualties on both sides is high. But it shows well that Russia took into account from the very beginning that in the regions it wanted to liberate, the goal was to annex them to Russia. That is, it was not a matter of blind slaughter. Russia's policy in the north did not last that long, because after a month and a half the Russian army retreated from Kiev.
The retreat was also not accompanied by carpet bombing and destruction of everything where it took place. We must remember this. Despite the indiscriminate and targeted attacks by some Ukrainian units on cities like Belgorod or high-rise buildings in Moscow, there has not been the same response from Russia. Its strikes are always targeted: at power stations, command posts, railroad hubs. We are forced to note a certain restraint in it.

Nwokem, crude price was only at the low 20s in April 2020, and rose rapidly from May 2020 to $43.23 per barrel and kept rising.
But you also must factor in that around the time of the Covid19 lockdown, all the petrol stations were shut down and people were encouraged to stay indoors. This meant that Buhari's government must have saved more than 90% of fuel subsidy around this period, and the lockdown carried on for many weeks, and even after that, there was a drastic reduction in traffic for many months.
All through GEJ's tenure, he paid huge sums for the petrol subsidy, unlike Buhari that had a break of nearly a year, as the lockdown ensured he didn't have to pay a lot on fuel subsidy as cars were not encouraged to be on the streets.
So I can comfortably write that the crude price and fuel subsidy factor were cancelling each other out. Buhari has no reason to leave a healthy economy comatose. Let us also bear in mind that Buhari borrowed way more money that GEJ, so what did he do with his own borrowings.

Also don't forget that Buhari's economy was already performing worse than Jonathan's
GEJ was in complete power for just 5 years, so I can comfortably say that six years before Buhari came in, the price of crude was comparable to the Buhari era price of crude, yet Buhari was performing woefully compared with Yaradua.

You wrote about the fact that standard of living has changed. It is the job of governments to put in policies to improve the standard of living of the people. Buhari also promised that he would improve the people's standard of living if he gets elected. On getting in, he destroyed the people's standard of living, so there is no valid excuse for Buhari to go relying on the disparity between the standard of living during OBJ, Yaradua, GEJ period, after all his government was responsible for making the standard of living of Nigerians worse. It is another failure that his government was responsible for. He can't use it as an excuse, to avoid being properly judged by the people.
When I get to a stable place where I can comfortably respond, I will. You can see that I made alot of typos because I'm not comfortable here.

I pray to remember this discussion so we can continue.

Nice conversing so far.

GEJ's government did earn the right to borrow after all he made the Nigerian economy the largest in Africa.

And btw, according to the link which I have pasted, the price of crude oil was noticeably higher during Buhari's term than during OBJ and Yaradua's term. Yet those two presidents outdid every APC president and they both were paying subsidies on fuel and electricity.

You also claimed that the price of oil during GEJ's period was outrageously pricier than during Buhari and Tinubu's government. The graph in the link doesn't support this your assertion. Oil price took a nosedive during the commencement of the Corona epidemic in April, but by May the price of oil had already started rising steeply.

Let us also not loose focus on the fact that the Nigerian economy was performing woefully even before the covid19 epidemic, so Buhari and Tinubu have no excuses.

https://www.macrotrends.net/1369/crude-oil-price-history-chart
First, you err by comparing crude oil price of that of Obj and Yar'Adua with that of Buhari. You cant go that far because it wouldn't make a balance of judgement due to the fact that standard of living in both eras are far apart and that there are governments in between both.

You can only compare the precedessor and the successor for a more factual comparison.

How much was crude oil under Abacha (A man sanctioned to death by the west) and also Abdulsalam compared to that of Obj? (Only added the latter because he was a bridge between military and civilian govt)

Now how much was crude oil under ObJ and Yaradua?

It was said that Yaradua outperformed OBJ in just 2yrs+ and would have made a huge difference if not for death

Did crude sell higher under OBJ than the 2 or not?

Now to Jonathan making Nigeria the biggest economy in Africa, it was all but beans cooking, this was later exposed after the rots going underneath got exposed. You can't be the biggest economy in Africa early 100% surplus of your budgeted earnings and still end up borrowing to pay salaries a year before the end of your tenure. What happened to the 100% surplus earnings?

Jonathan paid subsidy on fuel and electricity just as Buhari, Yar'Adua and OBJ, it's only Tinubu that's acting abnormal and turning Nigerian lives upside down.

So Jonathan didn't do anything magical in that aspect.

Are you really saying crude didn't sell under Jonathan above $100 per barrel for a long time?

How can you claim just by using one link that Buhari and Jonathan sold crude at similar rates when it's not a news that it sold for $110 for a while compared to like $60 that was in the budget vs selling for as low as $25 under Buhari compared to $50-$60 on budget?

Please, lets not argue for argument sake. I would have posted links to backup the above but I'm where my internet isn't opening images fast enough.

You can help check these assertion or wait till I can do so later.

I'm not holding brief for any of these leaders, just letting us know that Jonathan was never good if compared to Yar'Adua his precedessor because he didnt fact any political, economic or global pandemic issues.

It's so sad that we are buying man hour time discussing these failures called leaders.

But GEJ was paying fuel subsidy and electricity subsidy, amounting to huge amounts of money every month.

Also the graph will show that Nigeria's economy was already nosediving before the pandemic in 2020, so no excuse for both Buhari and Tinubu.
Since 1999, GEJ is the best president on the Nigerian economy scales. The graph proves it.

Statistics don't lie
Towards the end of Jonathan's tenure, Okonjo came to tell the world that Jonathan govt was borrowing to pay salaries. (Verify this online)
This is a govt that enjoyed a doubled crude oil prices for years.

For any serious government out there...

If you believe there are online platforms "speculating" your currency, why not allow your local banks to handle the issue of online payment by letting local bank cards work at the official or black market rate so that no one would have any reason to go online searching for digital currencies platforms?

In this same Nigeria, just few months ago, banks were charging more than ₦100 in difference to make online payment compared to what CBN said the rate was, why weren't the banks closed down?

Banks like UBA, GTB, Access bank and the likes were charging almost ₦200 difference until the cards stopped working.

Shouldn't EFCC, ICPC, CBN regulate the banks while ensuring Nigerians can make online payments using their local cards at official CBN or even black market rate?

We love to chase shadows and there are too many fools who are hell bent in defending these government officials that love to ignore the problems only to start going after the symptoms.
