Rabies can have several phases which include the prodromal, furious, and paralytic; rabies can be prevented by vaccinations. Knowing the warning signs of rabies in dogs can help prevent infection to other animals and people. [b]How Does A Dog Get Infected With Rabies? For the first few days, the dog will only show a few symptoms of abnormalities. Most dogs will then proceed to the furious stage, the paralytic or Both. Furious rabies is noticeable by extreme behavioral changes, including extreme aggression. Paralytic rabies, also referred to as dumb rabies, is characterized by weakness and loss of coordination, followed by paralysis. How do you get rabies from a dog? The period between the day of Infection and when the first symptoms is noticed is called the Incubation Period. According to Wikipedia, Incubation period is typically 1–3 months in humans. Incubation periods as short as four days and longer than six years have been documented, depending on the location and severity of the contaminated wound and the amount of virus introduced. Initial signs and symptoms of rabies are often nonspecific such as fever and headache. As rabies progresses and causes inflammation of the brain and/or meninges, signs and symptoms can include slight or partial paralysis, anxiety, insomnia, confusion, agitation, abnormal behavior, paranoia, terror, and hallucinations, progressing to delirium, and coma. The person may also have hydrophobia. One of the most distinctive signs of a rabies infection is a tingling, itching or twitching feeling around the area of the bite. You may be wondering "why does my dog have a swollen joint?", Have you heard of the word Hygroma? Hygroma is a fluid-filled sac formed around the joints of dogs in response to repeated pressure such as sitting of lying on hard grounds. For better understanding, when your dog constantly hits his elbow for example on hard surfaces, it causes something called a "callus". A Callus is that thick, hairless part of your dog's joint. More frequent collision and fluids begin to build up in the area. If you have noticed a callus, or Hygroma on your dog then there are some things you could do. TREATING ELBOW CALLUS An elbow callus doesn't really call for concern, but if you want to prevent it from becoming an ulcer here's what you can do. Provide a soft bedding for your dog to lie on. Moisturize the callus every day with coconut oil. Some people think it is better to let them dry out since the blood vessels are not near the surface and they are less likely to bleed, but if kept moist every day the moisturizer can actually make the callus almost disappear. Your dog will be more comfortable without a dry callus. If your dog is licking the callus, then it may already have been infected. contact your vet for treatment options. If your dog is obese, ensure your dog looses weight. TREATING HYGROMA If your dog has an Hygroma, you should contact your vet. Elbow hygromas are more serious and more difficult to treat. Take your dog to the Vet before it gets infected. http://dogsnigeriaforum..com.ng/2017/01/hygroma-in-dogs-swollen-elbow.html |

You probably would have been told by your Vet Doctor that vaccination is essential for your dogs health. You are told your puppy needs to be vaccinated a number of times to be fully protected. Now the question is "How does this work?" Knowing the reason for vaccination and how it works could really mean a lot to both you and your pet. What is Vaccination? The use of vaccines to "boost" your pet's immune system hereby preventing virus and diseases from attacking your pet. There are different vaccines for specific infections and viruses, but over time these vaccines have been combines to reduce the frequency of vaccines your dogs take over a period of time. line the "DHLPP" and other combines vaccines. What is DHLPP? (D)distemper (H)hepatitis (L) leptospirosis (P)parainfluenza and (P)parvovirus Puppies automatically obtain Immunization from the first milk they taste from their mother. This strong immunization is constantly active and nullifies any given vaccination as long as its still active. It stays active for a couple of weeks. Puppies should get their first vaccine at 8weeks of age, then two subsequent vaccines at 3-4weeks interval, as your Vet advises. How does Vaccines work? Now here's the BIG QUESTION. A virus is created in a laboratory. This virus imitates an Actual Virus but does not cause harm to your pet like the Actual Virus would. Now, This virus injected in your dog has the same behavior as the actual virus. on getting into your pet, its body system recognizes it as a strange element. Then activates its defense system to fight this stranger. The body system has an in-built defense system, but needs to be activated. If this is activated by the actual virus, the response time might be slow as it is its first time of encountering such strange element. Some elements of the virus would sneak in and infect your pet. The body system also has a memory. It remembers what happened when last this strange element was introduced, and defends the body system as at last memory. Some vaccines have reactions in pets such as drowsiness, weakness and such, while some have no effect at all. The frequency of vaccines depends on the type of vaccine administered. Speak with your Vet on when next your pet needs to be vaccinated. more on http://prodeegeepaws..com.ng/2016/10/why-vaccinate-my-dog-pet-vaccination.html |

HolySteph:if youre outside, she would hardly have time to notice you. once youre with the leash, ignore her completely. dont even look at her atall. |
try this simple trick. ask your spouse to take the dog for a walk. once you get outside, ask him to hand you the leash. walk the dog(without fear) out and back home. Dont panic cos dogs sense panic. do this at least thrice a week. lemme know how far after 2 weeks. |
