Oscar Onyema is the chief executive officer of The Nigerian Stock Exchange. Onyema holds a B.Sc Computer Engineering degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria and an MBA, Finance and Investments, Ziklin School of Business, Baruch College, New York. Oscar Onyema served as Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Vice President of American Stock Exchange LLC. Mr. Onyema serves as a primary liaison among various Amex operating divisions, the trading floor community, and external constituents. In addition, he is responsible for strategy and competitive analysis, Membership and Registration Department and Market Data Services Department. Mr. Onyema has been instrumental in Amex's preparation for Regulation NMS. Mr. Onyema joined the Amex in January 2001, and has served in various positions, most recently as Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. Before joining the Amex, Mr. Onyema worked at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) as Senior Analyst for Business Planning and Development. He also worked at DPMS (IBM Business Partner) as a Marketing Executive marketing IBM mid-range systems. He serves on several industry committees including CTA Operating Committee, NASDAQ UTP Plan Operating Committee, and SIFMA / FIF Regulation NMS working group. He served as an adjunct lecturer at the Economics Department of Pace University for five years, and is a frequent public speaker on market structure and market data issues. Chineze Anyaene, 26, is the Award-winning director of IJE. She was also the first student film producer in the history of the New York Film Academy to shoot a feature film on 35mm. The film "Ije: The Journey" chronicles the story of a young woman from rural Nigeria who immigrates to the rocket-paced, star-crazed world of Los Angeles. And while the personal stories of the director of that film, Chineze Anyaene, and her protagonist are not exactly identical -- the latter ends up on trial for the murder of three men -- there are distinct similarities between the two women who changed their addresses and perspectives from West Africa to the American West. Chineze recently featured in Levi's action series ‘Shape of what’s to come' - a collection of interviews featuring young women who have contributed positively to the arts and various other fields. |

Sorry we just have to post this... Chiedu Ifeozo was born in Lagos and his family is originally from Ubulu-uku in Delta state. He completed his secondary school education at Kings College Lagos, and graduated with a master’s degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Surrey, England. Today he is know as Nigeria's YouTube poet. Chiedu who recently featured in CNN's Inside Africa uses this medium to reach out to his audience. He self-published his first collection of poetry titled "Thoughts on a page", in 2008, and most of his work follows a spoken word style of writing which focuses mainly on topics such as politics, social commentary, youth empowerment, inspirational poetry and romance. Chinwe Lucy Ozoegwu Chinwe is currently researching autonomous self-adapting industrial in-house built robots, and how they can be used to facilitate mass customization. Robots, she hopes, will learn from their own experiences without being restricted to pre-conceived routines. In other words robots will use their experiences to think for themselves. Chinwe Ozoegwu received her BEng in Electrical and Electronics (4.62/5 GPA) from Moscow Power Engineering Institute, an MSc in Electronics and Information Technology (with Distinction) from Sheffield Hallam University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Industrial Automation and Robotics in Sheffield Hallam University, UK. In line with her stellar academic credentials, Chinwe secured a Bilateral Education agreement between Nigeria and Russia including free tuition, maintenance, insurance, book and travel allowances from the Russian and Nigerian governments, at Tver State Technical University and Moscow Power Engineering Institute. She is also currently lecturing a range of engineering subjects at the undergraduate level. Justus Nwaoga is among ten 2013 African innovators who were nominated for developing practical solutions to some of the continent’s most intractable problems. They were chosen from more than 900 applications from 45 countries. The finalists for the Innovation Prize for Africa, IPA, 2013 provided practical examples of Africa’s investment potentials. Nwaoga was nominated for developing a new way to collect renewable solar energy by using the mimosa pudica weed, an organic African medicinal plant. With this breakthrough, it was possible to construct a functional mimosa solar panel with the Mimosa plant extract. The solar panel is designed in such a way that the electrical potential of the cells can be restored on exposure to direct sun rays, after they have been discharged. The Innovation Prize for Africa is an award founded by the African Innovation Foundation and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. It mobilises African innovators and entrepreneurs by providing a total of $150 000 to winners who deliver market-oriented solutions for African-led development. The prize encourages private equity investors, government and development leaders to invest across sectors and build a climate that fuels Africa’s economic growth. MIT graduate student Chidube Ezeozue is a first class electrical engineering graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is currently pursuing dual master’s degrees in MIT’s Technology and Policy Program and in electrical engineering and computer science. Frustrated by his nation’s erratic electrical grid, Chidube created an app, with his brother, that crowdsources information about Nigerian power outages. With the app, called NepaSituation, people living in Nigeria can report outages. This data, when merged into an algorithm developed by Ezeozue, can help Nigerians predict when power outages may strike their neighborhoods, and how long those outages might last. After graduating from MIT in June, Ezeozue will remain in Cambridge, working as a software engineer for Google. Joanna Chikwe is Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Associate Program Director of the Integrated and Independent Thoracic Surgery Residency Programs. She is also Mount Sinai's first female cardiac surgeon. Dr. Joanna Chikwe specializes in using minimally invasive cardiac surgery techniques to reduce post-operative discomfort, speed recovery and improve cosmetic appearance of incisions after surgery. Dr. Chikwe is one of a handful of US surgeons with advanced training in both reconstructive valve surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery techniques such as off-pump, video and robotic-assisted surgery. She works closely with a dedicated plastic surgery and anesthesiology team with a specialist interest in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Dr. Chikwe employs valve repair to preserve natural valve tissue wherever possible, as well as off-pump surgery to avoid cardiopulmonary bypass for selected coronary bypass procedures. Dr. Chikwe received her medical degree from Oxford University. She completed her general surgery residency at Oxford and Cambridge, followed by research into cardiac transplantation for which she received a Masters degree from Cambridge University. Dr. Joanna Chikwe completed her residency in cardiothoracic surgery on the Royal Brompton Hospital rotation where she gained expertise in minimally invasive surgery, including two years specializing in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting and video assisted and robotic cardiac surgery. She successfully completed a two year advanced fellowship under Dr David Adams focusing on mitral valve repair and aortic reconstruction at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Joanna has published widely in the field of cardiac surgery. She is the author of three key surgical textbooks, including Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Oxford Specialist series; and she has published several book chapters and articles on minimally invasive surgery. Joanna is also active in clinical research, authoring over fifty scientific articles and abstracts published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at international scientific meetings. Chioma Ude is the enigmatic founder and executive director of Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).
