Politics › Five Things To Take Away From The 2019 Presidential Elections by Prodigytal(op): 6:33am On Feb 27, 2019 |
1. Wide Margins President Mohammadu Buhari, that incumbent won with a 4 million votes margin, one of the highest in history after he polled 15 million votes compared to 11 million votes pulled by his closest opponent, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
2. 3rd Position While attention is often always placed on the two biggest players in the elections, it is worthy of note that Omoyele Sowore of the AAC placed a distant third position with about thirty thousand votes.
3. Celebrities that participated Some Nigerian celebrities participated in the elections and while some won, some lost out. Nairabet CEO, Akin Alabi as well as owner of popular lagos club Quilox, Shina Pellers both won elections into legislative positions. Musician Banky W however failed to win the election for position of representative of the etiosa constituency.
4. No phone call Four years ago, incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan already called challenger Buhari to congratulate him even before the official announcement. However, Alhaji Abubakar hasn't yet done the same, as tension thickens across the country following the aftermath of the elections.
5. INEC could have done better After almost a billion dollars and four years of planning, inec delivered an eyesore of an election. Jamb could have organised this election better. There were so many cases of inefficiencies across the nation. We hope INEC can do better in 2023 and adopt digital applications for Africa's largest nation.

Not defending but if you read tinubu's biography, he actually worked for top companies in Africa before entering politics. He was born into a wealthy family and his younger brother owns oando. |

Nigerians are super eager to condemn their country but super reluctant to contribute to its development. Start talking about Nigeria's problems and people will bring chairs. Tell them to join you to clean the street, they'll disappear.
A 21 year old American want to cure cancer. A 21 year old Israeli is working on clean energy. A 21 year old Chinese is manufacturing on a large scale. A 21 year old Nigerian just wants to buy benz.
It's not the president that'll develop the country. It's the people. And it's the people that choose the president. |
