By the way, either Osaze plays or not, Nigeria may well fail to qualify and Siasia may be fired. Sure. Tempus fugit, in the eyes of time, we're all goners anyway.

It isn't what threat hangs over us that should make us decide what to do. It is whether an act is right or not.

So lets say you're the boss of a company, a subordinate abuses you publicly and refuses to apologize to your face. This same subordinate pulled similar stunts with previous bosses. So you think the best thing to do is for YOU to INVITE HIM over? Especially when as you point out, he's not a kid? (by the way, Chima, you seem to have missed why I talked about kids in the first place, ). Come on, be real.

Tee_Jay asked whether he fought someone. So you believe that someone's behavior can't affect team spirit until you have actual fisticuff in a team?

Look, enough hiding behind excuses and rhetorics. The young man offended his coach and team (or is this in doubt?). He should apologize. If he doesn't, he either has previous beef with the coach or he is an indisciplined (though talented) guy. Based on Osaze's lengthening history with coaches, I believe its the latter.

On the issue on ground and your post, yes Osaze is by far our most in-form player. He also won the accolades you cited. But I think you'll agree with me that the term "world class" should be applied carefully. In particular, I think we want to see how he fares over a few seasons, just to be sure he's no one-season-wonder. Anyhow, I agree there's an argument to be made that he is world class.

The one wey dey pain me na say you guys are extrapolating from that and blaming Siasia. Different matter entirely! How many Eagles spoke out in direspect against our last three coaches?? Only Osaze. Is Osaze even the captain of the team? What effect (good or bad) is this Osaze's behavior having on the team? Now that the same "outspoken" (ahem, indisciplined) player is having issues with Siasia, it is suddenly Sia's fault?

Eh yah, this is sad. You guys are equating different things. It's true Osaze is a good player (I don't know whether he is world class, that's open to debate). The other thing is: Osaze (a) broke camp rules (b) insulted his coach (c) on twitter (d) he has apparently refused to apologize.

IT MAY BE that Siasia has an ego, but that is not before us right now. It is Osaze that is displaying a big ego right now. Until Siasia is fired, he remains the coach and the constituted authority in the team. Osaze has already done the same disrespect rubbish to three previous coaches.

This talk about Sis needing to know how to handle different people is a ridiculous Nigerian sh*t and shows painfully clearly one of the big problems with us as a country:we love immediate "progress" at whatever cost, even long term failure. Know what? It's the same attitude that eventually derails most of our players. We think JayJay achieved a lot, but I remain convinced that with more discipline (e.g his play-to-the-gallery days at Frankfurt) he would have been bigger than Ronaldinho.

The issue is not about Siasia's managerial skills. Its simple. A man under authority has rebelled in a messy way that could set precedents. Until you take the power from his boss, you've gotta let the boss wield it or you cause indiscipline and disrespect. Isn't this clear enough

I am not saying he should risk his career for the Super Eagles. Nobody's saying that, probably not even Siasia. The simple facts are: no matter the circumstances, he should NOT abuse his boss (coach) in this context. Certainly not online. And if he does, he should apologize.

Anything outside this is called INDISCIPLINE, and no previous history will change that. Look, I love Osaze just as much as you guys but if you look at the facts and ignore sentiments, you'd realize that you can't allow anyone, no matter how talented, to be above the team.

You're not making much sense. The point is not about Siasia's playing days. The point is: a talented player messed up big time and to make it worse, he didn't even man up and apologize to the coach. Yet people like you want the coach to just overlook that. Hmmm.

Sorry, you're in a minority here (which gives me hope for Nigeria) and you're most assuredly wrong.

Isn't it funny that most Nigerians know that the Super Eagles have always had problems with discipline and yet when a coach takes steps to stamp authority on the team, people start talking about "most in-form player".

I have always liked Osaze, and in the past, felt he was the most committed Eagle. I have come to realize recently to my dismay that he has a serious discipline problem.

He cannot try that stuff he pulled with any coach worth his salt: not just (a)leaving camp but (b)broadcasting it on twitter and (c) abusing the coach (d)ON TWITTER!!! Haba. Can you imagine anyone trying this to Ferguson or Mourinho? Or any coach worth his salt?

face it or not, football is all about discipline and teamwork. Great as Messi is, without other Barca players clicking he can't win a match alone.

Osaze needs to learn discipine. Let the coach do his job, and let the rest of us keep our trap shut.

Although Ukeoma's life has been cut short, I believe those of us who share the dreams (and views) he had about integrity and the future of this country can still help him.
I want us to seriously think about how to immortalize his name and make sure that his death counts for something.

I have to say that reading this thread has been very entertaining. Despite what some of you think, most people here seem to be well-informed. Some just seem to allow their strong views about the issue get the best of them.  

A point needs to be made though. What if I told you that TODAY, the biggest problem Nigeria faces is not power or education or whatever. Its the real risk that we will ALLOW ourselves to become so hopelessly polarized that no one can ever rule us effectively.

Believe me, every one of the major candidates has strengths along with scary weaknesses. It is true that the basis for some people's votes are questionable (ethnicity? religion?) but its also true that it is their vote! We also hear all sorts of stories about rigging and under-aged voting.

Was the process perfect? Certainly NOT. But has it generally been okay? Come on! you've got to agree that there are really few surprises so far.

Anyway, to get BACK on point: WHOEVER wins this elections, lets all get behind him. I promised myself this very early. The truth is, none of them can do it unless he has our true support. Whether we agree with others on whether they rigged or voted "rightly" or whatever or not, lets realize that the true test is not how well or logically we can vote, but how well much we love our country; how united we are ready to be.

With so many smart and energetic Nigerians in this house (and elsewhere in the country), it is insulting to believe that the change we want can only happen through one man who (whichever one) comes with baggage.

Lets applaud a generally good process but more importantly, buckle up to make this country great.
