Kobojunkie: Because in their minds it means genocide. I have stopped bothering to respond to most of these conspiracy theorists. I read the posts, gnash my teeth, and move on. I do worry that the surfeit of information today has made people dumber instead of smarter. The most alarming part is that it appears to be a global phenomenon. 4 Likes 1 Share |

sparkyJ: I won't accept your apology, but that's only because you don't owe me one. Maybe Op, but I'm sure he himself would gladly wave away any apologies. Thank you for your explanation though. It's always a pleasure to encounter people capable of saying "I was wrong". Sounds like such a small thing, but says a lot about an individual. All the best SparkyJ! |

MannyE: Good Lord! I don't know what is wrong with your wife, but I know you should be extremely careful resorting to a forum like this for medical advice. Someone actually diagnosed candidiasis from just frequent peeing! I can only hope you are not the one dashing them likes, because they are about to get you and your wife in big trouble, especially since they are now prescribing Ciprotab(!!) to treat it. Do yourself a favor, google up candidiasis and Ciprotab, then do a better job of getting competent medical opinion. 5 Likes |

bigtt76:I don't know if coro has been with us since January, but this guy very likely caught his coro right here in Lagos. The disease runs its course over a few weeks, so it's unlikely he just died from an infection which he imported in January. Well, I suppose it's possible that he battled with complications from imported coro for close to three months, but then, I'm not sure we cay say coro killed him... |

pmoye: I like you. A true scientist should never say "never". But there is another important applicable scientific precept: Occam's Razor. No need to look for an extraordinary explanation for something if a satisfactory simpler explanation exists. Unfortunately for the African in us, , there is a simpler explanation this time. And to sort of echo you (as well as show that I do believe in extraordinary ideas): in time, we WILL indeed see more than we do now. I believe in the existence of extra dimensions (although not in the normal spirituo-metaphysical sense!). |
Pets / Re: Do Dogs See Spirits And Witches? by proffemi: 6:10pm On Apr 14, 2020 |
Daum: No, dogs don't. But they can see and hear things you cannot. Unfortunately, the reason is nowhere near as exciting as you'd hope. You see, their eyes are sensitive to portions of the electromagnetic spectrum that ours are not, and their ears can perceive up to 3 times the highest frequencies humans can. It's simple, boring biology. 6 Likes 1 Share |

factormatt6:NCDC may have their issues, but you do realize that people crying wolf like you are part of the problem, don't you? I heard an unsubstantiated report that well over 50 % of calls and messages to NCDC are spam calls or people "trying to sure they are what they claim". Please leave them alone, let them do their work to the extent possible. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Bevista: You may not know (but I do) how much of their funding is no-strings-attached. And where is the evidence you have of their eugenic agenda? You think a few twitter threads and a random website are sufficient to impeach years of public, proven service? Haaaaaaa. You Africans are an ungrateful lot. Edit: I have nothing more to say on this subject. |

Staro: Don't mind ignorant and superstitious Nigerians o. While they were doing whatever it is Nigerian youths do, Melinda and her husband pumped in millions dollars of their money to do something the entire Nigerian government couldn't. All she's done is to sound a note of warning based on trends. She's not saying it WILL happen. She's saying it's a real possibility based on what she knows about our healthcare system. On cue, the ignoramuses who know jack-shit about the healthcare system have emerged howling from the woodwork, defending the integrity of their fatherland. Pathetic. 2 Likes |

Acmepreneur: Lol. I no know which year of release your own COVID be o. Seriously, OP's symptoms sound suspiciously like COVID. Not just the cough alone; not just the fever alone...its about how both started and fed off each other. Plus the entire course of the infection makes it sound like COVID. But he was also smart enough not to say with any certainty that it was COVID. Your own meanwhile sounds like a nasty infection, but them never been release COVID that time |

AFOLSNETWORKS: Waoh. As far as I'm concerned, you just provided the first evidence of something many of us suspect: that COVID-19 is out there in Naija. I really, really hope you get the antibody test done (so you can confirm). But before then, congrats on dodging a real bullet. And your wife sounds like a real MVP. Kudos to her. 6 Likes |

0m0nnakoda: Pedantic dunce. How do you arrive at 11 ? What is " normal"?Were you in fact asking about about how he arrived at 11 or not? I wonder where a retard like you got the guts to jump in my mentions accusing me of irrational, non-evidence based thinking when I never invited your opinion? |
Education / Re: Lagos Pegs Entry Age Into JSS1 At 12 Years by proffemi: 4:02pm On Apr 07, 2020 |
0m0nnakoda: This man. I thought you had been educated on this topic, but obviously, I was wrong, if you are still asking what constitutes "normal" age for primary 6 equivalents. The World Bank link I sent you shows that the mean age of commencement of elementary school globally is approximately 6 years. Or are you disputing that fact? If the mean is 6 and primary school takes 6 years, I hope you can do the simple arithmetic? Normal is in the 11 - 12 range. Unless you know more than generations of educationists around the world! Hope you have your answer now, or do you just like arguing? |

0m0nnakoda: Too bad for you. I am, and if I say so myself*, I am a pretty decent one. I think we can go our different ways now. You are off your high horse. You have been educated. All that's left is for you to lash out. I won't be here for that. * I know the sort of pedantic sort I am dealing with here, so let me make it clear: I'm not just saying so myself. I have student feedback and even the odd international award to back it up! |

0m0nnakoda:You say "why not 10 or 11", but you refused to complete the assignment I gave you. If you did, you would find out that the mean age in developed countries + 6 years of primary school is close to 12 years. You are trying to tell us there is research. I brought in the UK example to show you that 11 is just as fine .I never said 11 is not fine. Your beef all along has never been on whether 11 or 12 is better. Please re-read you history if you've forgotten. |

0m0nnakoda: Ogbeni, please visit this page: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/se.prm.ages I'm sure you can calculate the mean age yourself. Since you need education in this area, I suggest you not just use the UK figure, but extract the ages for all developed nations. Tell me if the mean+6 ends up closer to 11 years or 12 years. Are you happy (and properly educated) now? |

0m0nnakoda: What do you mean by contradicting myself? The evidence we need exists in DOZENS, if not scores of studies that show that learning outcomes are better when learning takes cognizance of all aspects of personality development. I do not even have a single reference to give you because this is an established fact in the discipline! You mentioned international best practices. Do you have the tiniest glimmer of an idea what international best practices are in this area? And yet, you want your opinion to override decades of cognitive and educational psychology research Do you see why I think you are an ITK? 1 Like |

0m0nnakoda: Lol. I have been watching your comments, but decided to ignore you. Educational systems are not designed based on the opinions and intuitions of individuals. Cognitive and educational psychology are serious, matured disciplines. It may interest you to know that my opinions are not just based on subjective personal experience, but on years of training and research related to cognitive/educational psychology. Edit: by the way, yes, the problem of half-baked graduates may also be due to half-baked lecturers, just as it is CERTAINLY partly due to students who form ITK where they would have been better served learning from, and listening to experts.
