I grew up knowing the word”Ijoba” translates into “Government”, and it’s mostly use to refer to Military personnel and people with power but I have always been inquisitive to how the word came about, like it’s origin. I’m not a yoruba speaker nor understand the language beyond the basics but I know Oba means King, so please house, educate us, I would very much like to know.

BAT Jan talk yesterday now Shettima has spewed rubbish.

This is the same Shetima that extol Osinbajo having invested so much in Borno, restored hope especially the children who lost their parents to Boko Haram Insurgency. This is the reason why Borno people even love Osinbajo. I wonder why Shetima place person gain over interests of Borno people
The reality on ground sadly is both Shettima and Zulum control the state’s APC, and so the votes will go to Tinubu, in Borno, the people clearly don’t have a choice.

Politics / Re: Sitting On A Chair In The Mosque, Is Tinubu Bigger Than Allah? by ProudBornoBoy(m): 8:39pm On Jun 03, 2022
Penguin2:
A picture of Tinubu in the mosque with Sultan of Sokoto surfaced earlier in the day.

But one question has been running through my head; “why did Tinubu sit on a chair inside the mosque, is he bigger than Allah?”

Around 2017, when Buhari was so sick and frail, a picture of him was taken in the mosque where he was looking like was going to breathe his last the next minute with Bukola Saraki captured looking him with disdain. But guess what? He still sat on the floor.

But here’s Tinubu who is asking to be made president sitting on a chair inside a mosque. Yet his handlers will say he’s not sick and frail.

This is an affront on Allah which must be condemned by every Muslim.

Penguin is a bird of reason!

Go and do research, even Buhari sits on a chair in the mosque, so take your petty politics elsewhere.

P.S: I’m not a Tinubu supporter.

Politics / Borno 2023: You Are A Nobody – Zulum Replies PDP Governorship Candidate by ProudBornoBoy(m): 11:55am On Jun 03, 2022

The governor of Borno State, Babaganda Zulum, has asked his supporters to ignore the critical comment about his administration made by the governorship candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed Ali Jajeri, saying he is a nobody.

In a report published by PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday, Mr Jajeri accused Mr Zulum of running a nepotic government where contracts are awarded to only cronies and family members.

Reacting to the development, Isa Gusau, the spokesperson of the governor, said neither he nor his principal would honour the opposition’s candidate. Mr Gusau described Mr Jajeri as an “unknown governorship candidate.”

Mr Gusau said the governor’s supporters should “resist the temptation of responding to any of the spurious allegations coming from an “unknown governorship candidate (UGC) of the PDP in Borno State”.

“Let me as always, start by once again conveying Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s profound gratitude to every one of you using social media platforms to consistently promote the developmental activities of the state government. You share in Professor Zulum’s undivided efforts to speed up Borno’s ongoing recovery from the catastrophic impact of over 12 years of insurgency.

“As you may have observed, in recent days, an unknown governorship candidate of the PDP in Borno State has been granting all sorts of political interviews, releasing a series of political articles targeting Governor Zulum ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

“On the surface, it would seem that the unknown governorship candidate wants to square up but from our experiences with such personalities, the man simply wants us to respond so that he will eventually become popular.

“Fact is that he is not quite known even within the PDP stakeholders in Borno State,” Mr Gusau said.

Mr Gusau said he has been involved in politics in the state for more than 18 years but has never heard of Mr Jajeri. He said even members of the PDP did not know their governorship candidate.

“From my inquiry, many stakeholders of the PDP in Borno State, still do not know the man (Jajeri).

“He is an unknown governorship candidate. A UGC.

“Apparently, the man has realized this and is doing everything possible to attract our media reactions, hoping to gain from Zulum’s God-given publicity that is both nationwide and global.

“The unknown governorship candidate (UGC) wants us to respond to his spurious allegations to make him popular.

He then asked the supporters of the governor to be focused and continue highlighting the achievement of his principal rather than responding to Mr Jajeri.

“Focus your energy and time towards continued highlighting of Zulum’s developmental activities that are touching lives.”

Mr Gusau said even if they feel compelled to respond, he instructed them to “simply showcase videos and photos of relevant schools with evidence of locations.”

Especially since he has most the political elites support in the state. This is also a welcome development cause Borno has been a one party system for too long, it’s time a credible opposition is formed.

Are you sure ...?? Stop whining yourself... grin

Well, Zulum currently generated bad blood at the recently concluded state primaries especially is the southern Borno region due to imposition of candidates. In Biu for example, the people do not want the current Member representing them at the State House of Assembly and they clearly informed Zulum when he came to Biu some days before the primaries but he still imposed the same person on them. Well, let’s watch and see how things unfold.

Politics / Borno Governorship: Defeating Zulum Easiest Thing To Accomplish – Jajari by ProudBornoBoy(m): 7:26am On Jun 03, 2022
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Borno State, Mohammed Jajari, has said that his emergence as the opposition party’s flag bearer was because the people of Borno believe he has all it takes to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.

“When I picked my form to vie for the PDP ticket, some of my associates in Lagos, Abuja etc called, asking ‘are you picking the form to contest against Governor Zulum?’ And I was like yes I will pick the form and I will defeat him,” Mr Jajari, an investment banker and expert in the extractive industry, said.

Mr Jajari said he would defeat Governor Zulum, a professor turned politician, who many believe has performed well in office. Mr Jajari, however, insists that the governor’s achievements are not enough to keep Mr Zulum in power beyond 2023.

“Those from the outside see it as an impossible task, but we, the majority of people of Borno, know that it is one of the easiest tasks to accomplish because we know that there is nothing fantastic going on in this government. There is no single positivity attached to this government.”

Mr Jajari, 42 years old, emerged the winner of PDP primaries having defeated Mohammed Imam, the acclaimed backer of the opposition party in Borno State.

The relatively known Jajari polled a total of 487 votes to defeat a much older and more experienced politician, Mr Imam, who got 362 votes in the PDP primary m

Many in Borno still believe that the reputation of Mr Zulum dwarfs Mr Jajari, who is considered an underdog, politically.

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES on his victory and his mission in politics, Mr Jajari said he was delighted to emerge a winner even though he was not surprised because the people of Borno had through the PDP delegates committed to bringing a change in the state’s polity.

The PDP flag bearer said he joined the race for the 2023 governorship to address three key issues that he believes worry the people of Borno State.

“First of all, I intend to end the insecurity which still threatens a lot of our people; second of all, is to make sure all the sacked employees are returned to their service, and thirdly to ensure that contract awards in the state are done by reputable contractors and not family and friends,” he said.

“We are tired of hearing the terms ‘direct labour’ in public projects even though everybody knows that it is not direct labour but contracts given to cronies, family members and friends and that’s why most of the contracts done don’t last the test of a short time.”

Borno PDP has never won any of the general elections since 1999, due largely to its chaotic disposition and lack of unity. The party was to a greater extent accused of being a shadow of the ruling government’s party in the state.

The PDP flag bearer who hails from Mobbar, the local government area of the present Deputy National Chairman (North) of the APC, Abubakar Kyari, said the infighting that denied the PDP power in Borno state since 1999 was all caused by the ruling party in the state.

“The PDP in Borno today has learnt its lessons, and it is very easy to correct all the errors of the past. And to start with, we have agreed to stay away from any APC arrangements. We will bring forth real opposition in Borno State; we will constructively criticize the policies and programmes of the Borno State government. We will be free to talk to our people and mobilize, creating awareness for all. We will criticize all the policies that are not good, we will bring them up to be debated.

“The policies of the APC despite all the hype are not fantastic. They found that easy to do because they have turned the state into almost a one-party system whereby they do everything to ensure that no influential or known household name of the party leads the party unless the ones that agree to work for them.

“They have made everyone believe that Borno is heaven looking from the outside, but when you come to the state you would realize that it is not what they say it is. Life is much more difficult here.”

2023: Why I will not accept aspirants’ offers to be VP
By Engr Babagana Umara Zulum

(Below was part Governor Zulum’s remark when he accepted nomination as candidate of the APC in Borno for the 2023 governorshipsmiley

Only at the weekend, more than 30 youths were killed around Kala-Balge. This should remind us of the reality of our problems and the need to deliberately unite ourselves towards the recovery, stability and prosperity of our dear Borno State.
At this point, ladies and gentlemen, I will like to address one issue. I did not consult anyone before raising this issue here because I did not want to give room to convinced otherwise.
As you all know, the APC will be holding presidential primaries coming weekend.

I have seen all kinds of promotional media content, including articles by notable columnists, associating me with the 2023 presidency.
Let me reveal with apologies, that some close associates of key presidential aspirants have sent me offers for the position of running mate, as possible Vice President, depending on the outcome of the APC presidential primaries by the weekend.

I have thought deeply about these offers because becoming Vice President is considered attractive. I have thought about all the powers and privileges of being VP. I can see the honour of presiding over meetings attended by Governors and ministers and the privilege of having a presidential Jet at one’s disposal. I can see the honour of presidential receptions within and outside Nigeria.

However, I have asked myself, that should I get the opportunity to become VP and raise my political profile, what happens to all our ongoing works for the people of Borno State?
We have built more than 10, 000 house and currently more of such and reconstructing existing ones, for ongoing resettlement of our people. We have resettled more than 20 communities so far. Yet, thousands of our fellow citizens are still homeless and in desperate need of food, water and healthcare.
We have adopted a development plan that we are already implementing.

I have asked myself, what happens to all these plans that I am central to, which are helping to fast track our recovery in Borno State?
Ladies and gentlemen, the killings in Kala-Balge at the weekend made me more critical and the incident seriously reminded me of the challenges that are still ahead of us in Borno State.
I came to the conclusion that while a chance to become Vice President could benefit my profile as an individual, becoming reelected as Governor of Borno State has the potential of more overall and more assurance of benefit to the good people of Borno State.

I therefore say that while I thank those who may be considering me for the position of VP, I prefer to stay back and work drastically for the people of Borno State because for me as a citizen of Borno State, working with others to hastily rebuild Borno State is the most urgent need and it is beyond any aspiration.

I profoundly thank everyone who thought of me worthy of any responsibility and I +pray that Allah helps us to work towards the full restoration of peace, the full recovery and growth of Borno State.

I am grateful to our party executives at all levels for supporting us. I am grateful to all serving and former public office holders who constitute our stakeholders.
For you our delegates who elected me at the just concluded primaries, I am indeed grateful to each of you for this mandate.

Above everyone, I am eternally grateful all the good people of Borno for the mandate given to us back in 2019, and for the overwhelming support we received from May 2019 to date.
I believe that insha’Allah, the people of Borno State will support the APC to another resounding victory at all levels.

Honestly, it’s a situation that should be handled delicately to avoid having the same problem we are having now in Maiduguri, although the ideology of both side is different their method of agitation seem to be one (that’s if the Unknown Gun Men are truly IPOB).

Oil is not the only resource that you parasites have been living off.
The NYSC was created to enable northern secondary schools to have access to educated graduate teachers from the South.
I first noticed this when I had the misfortune of serving in Nasarawa state.
In almost every secondary school in Awe local government there were at least 10 corpers for every teacher.
My friends who served in other parts of the North like Kebbi and Jigawa told me it was the same experience for them.
Meanwhile, most of the principals in these schools would not pay the corpers any salary, forcing the corpers to rely on their allowances.
Everything in the North is created to guarantee failure and backwardness.

Same thing also occurs in the south, the riverine area of the Niger delta region, same educated gradute teachers from North go there to teach.

The Boko Haram insurgency was a crisis that was mismanaged right from it early stage, the state government as at then handled it with kid gloves until it became a menace the federal government couldn’t handle also. It left my people struggling as the cold hands of death, in pains and sorrow, in anguish and famine, in dejection and hopelessness, it is the most terrifying experience my state have tasted in recent history, a chapter we still haven’t closed, where brothers killed their brothers, sons killed their father, all for what reason? Propagation of false doctrines!, the masses stranded in between terrorist and the military, and yet this same killers are been set free, who do we blame? Our leaders, our elders, ourselves, all I can say is Borno Shall Rise Again, InShaa Allah.
