I don’t recall Australia being involved in the slave trade. Even if they were, Nigeria has been independent for almost 60 years, why do you think it is the responsibility of modern day Australians or Canadians to take you in? You have your country they have theirs.

Why should Canada implement anything to take Nigerians in? This is not about paying for the sins of anyone, it’s about fixing your own country. When even moderate Americans like my wife are starting to complain and request canceling birthright citizenship and tighter borders, you know there is trouble on the horizon.
Is it not your country too? No matter how much you despise Nigeria, it is still your country. You have acquired enough knowledge from the US that can help you fix your country, so why not come back to your country and fix it instead of sitting in America and talking bad about your country when you have not even done a thing to make a difference. Eversince you have been ranting about fixing your country, what have you done to make a change?

You know, if every Americans were like you and your selfish American wife, you wouldn't had had the opportunity of being in America not to talk of marrying an American, and your selfish American wife wouldn't had been this lucky to have you as her husband.

You are not in anyway better than our selfish Government. If you really want a change in your own country that you despise so much, be the change. Let the change start from you. Come back home and fix your country because that when you would have the right to talk to others like you have been doing. Start the change.

Any more advertisement here will earn you a ban
I think you should have said it better than this.

Advertising keeeehuh?? Haaaahaaaaa. The person asked question which I thought I could help. I don't know bymafit CEO not to talk of working there so how come would I be advertising for them. I did my registration there and someone was asking where he/she could do Same registration. I'm not advertising oooo. How does that even sound like an advertisement?

Even if you did not feel good about it and you wanted to correct it, you could have said it in a polite way and not the way you said it and threatened to ban me as if Nairaland is the only way to make heaven and the only way to paradise.

That statement was extremely awkward.

Moses Ran away for Pharaoh but came back to liberate his people(the Israelites). What are you still doing over there? Come back to Nigeria and liberate your people. I had to go back and read the ministerial list released just yesterday, you can tell me which one you are on that list.
Even Jesus left heaven to die for you and other Christians according what they claimed. He didn't stay in heaven to condemn them. Baba come back to Nigeria and liberate us. You are the Moses of our time, the jesus of our Christians and the Zackyzacky of our Shiites.

Hail thee
OMG!!! You people will never stop making somebody to laugh. Laughing seriously here. Funny you.

This one is not Jesus oooo. He's Savior Twood of our time.

Spring 2020huh? It's too early to apply for Visa interview for Spring 2020 now. It's obvious you were denied because you applied too early.

Apply around October/November.

Masters degree in Engineering barely gets Assistantship before arrival. ( mostly only upon arrival) That's Fact.
If you have a great GPA. Apply for PhD before going back. Your GRE and TOEFL is great. Hence, the discomfort of the VO. Felt you didn't make the best outta your profile.
PhD will have you automatically funded.

No harm in giving it a second try since your dad is funding.

Vo : sorry , you are ineligible for visa this time
Post your Transcripts in full so that the Gurus here can help you scrutinize it and tell you where you missed it.

Name of School you applied to? Do you have funding? How much do you have on your I-20? Who is your Sponsor. Those are things you should look at.

I have been contemplating a thought... Just as an account has been deleted, another has become increasingly active. Before now, I had vehemently refused to toe this line of inference. I am forced to do so at this time.
If you know, you know.
FYI

Twood is not Bracelum and Bracelum is not Twood. They are two different people. So, get it right

Sit down there and be contemplating a thought on someone else's issue.

If you know how busy that guy is and the level of his achievements, you wouldn't have thought that he would have the time or stoop himself so low to create different accounts on Nairaland all in the name of commenting on Nairaland issues.

Just sit there and keep contemplating a thought on someone while that person is busy contemplating a thought on how he will get to a higher position than where he is presently.

Someone that hardly even has time for himself now will have time for Nairaland.

SMH.............................

Don't bother quoting me because it will be a waste of time.

SHARWAMA'S APPROVED VISA TRANSCRIPT.
Date: June 7, 2019
Venue: Lagos Consulate
Time:6:30 a.m
Gender of VO: Male
Window: I Didn't notice, I was blown away by his cuteness and jerry curl grin grin grin
Ok it was the second to last window, before the exit door.
I: (Smiling) Good morning sir
V.O: Good morning, please pass me your passport and your I-20.
I did and he was like "please push your passport a little bit further". I pushed it and asked, "is it okay now sir?"
VO: Yes it is. Why are you going to the US
I: (deep breath + killer smile) To uhm, pursue a masters degree in Biology, Biomedical Science Concentration at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City Tennessee.
V.O: Why this degree?
I: I really want to work as a research scientist at a renowned biomedical research Institute here in Nigeria. Unfortunately, a masters degree in Biology or a closely related field is the minimum requirement for such a position. So this degree would not just help me hone my research skills or build my critical thinking, it would qualify me for the position I really want, when I return.
V.O: So why did you pick this school?
I: (Gesticulating with magical hands) For me, it wasn't just about the generous funding I received, which I am extremely grateful for by the way, it had a lot more to do with the student-faculty relationship I have built with my potential supervisor, professor Burna boy. We Skyped a couple of times and we have chosen a thesis topic I am super excited about.
V.O: What other schools did you apply to?
I: I applied at Texas A&M University, Commerce
VO: uhum(while typing)
I: Cleveland State University Ohio and Kansas State University Manhattan Kansas.
VO: Have you travelled out of the country before?
I: I have not had the need to sir.
VO: Are you married
I: No sir
V.O: You said you have funding, let me see the evidence
I: My school did not give me an official letter but it's on the I-20(I pointed at the document so he looked at it)
V.O: Ok I see $9590 to be payed by someone ,who is this?
I: That's my mum sir
V.O: What does she do?
I: My mum is a business woman, she sells African fabrics and traditional bridal attires
V.O: Yes do you have any proof, I want to see evidence.
I was confused and he mentioned "or bank statement"
I: (Killer smile)Yes, with all pleasure. Just a moment please.
So I got the bank statement
V.O(while looking at the statement) Doesn't your mum have other children to sponsor in school?
I: (I never expected that question, so my English technically failed me, so I looked at him and answered) All of us have finished school, it remainder two of us.
I was so embarrassed about my grammatical blunder but I was glad he understood the point, we were all done with school except two of my siblings.
V.O: Ok, I will be approving your Visa. He hands me the white paper. Talked about pick up in three working days, gave me back my SOA and I-20, asked me to keep it carefully and I would need the latter at the port of entry... Told me to have a wonderful day
I: (Killer smile) Thank you and have a wonderful rest of the day too.
Yup, I bounced out of the building grin
THE END grin grin grin

There are great people on this forum, some of which life has brought to my path for strong friendship and relationships. Yes, I have been away, because as we pursue our dreams and goals, our priorities must shift and change; or else, we might be left behind! However, I am still very much here. I am very grateful for this post. It shows how grateful you and other folks on this thread are. It is not about what myself and others contribute, but chiefly because you guys were and are willing to learn from others experience and ideas.

Those who give something out also take something back in the process. We broaden our experience! That's what I see about Nairaland, particularly, this thread. And that is why I am still here despite disagreements now and then.

And what is more important is that, F1 visas continue to drop! It may even exceed the record we have seen in the past 3 years. Just do your thing and get things right. And congrats to students with recent approvals. Make una study well and top una class!

God bless you ProYouWebsiteUK for this post. I am back here for now to do the little I know to do. grin
You are welcome. Good to have you back here bro.

Dreambound, I wanted to quote your approved visa transcript but I changed my mind grin. I love the fact that you had a beautiful conversation with the VO, I could practically imagine the scenario and it just made me love you more. I pray your success story inspires other aspiring undergraduates on this platform. I pray they would draw strength and courage from you, knowing that not only M.Sc or PhD students get approval. Congratulations my friend.
I want to also congratulate you omohakin on your approval. I am super excited about your success and the entire universe is waiting for the manifestation of your gifts.
Going forward, to everyone who's yet to have a conversation with the VO, yes I keep mentioning conversation because calling it an "interview" brings a lot of pressure and anxiety. So please remember this: dark pink papers will fly in the air but it's none of your business. Your business is with the white paper. Your business is to prove you are worthy and deserving of an approval. It's okay to be nervous but don't throw #59200 away without a good fight. It's okay to have a transcript but don't do la cram, la pour, la forget. Don't go with a fake bank statement, don't say more than necessary, be confident and outspoken, do not bore the VO. You can drop your file on the table so you can use your hands to gesticulate and be more expressive, I think that helps a lot. As much as possible, try not to lie. Believe in yourself, you are not a failure. Some got their visas approved once and so what? This is your 2nd or 3rd attempt and so what? You are wiser and stronger now, you know better now, forgive yourself for your mistakes and turn the denials to your advantage, use them to gain momentum and relaunch massively on your next interview.
I have no idea why I'm writing all these, if it's for you or you, then please, take the information. You have no idea how hard I'd be rooting for you. We are in this together, we are family(even though we fight a lot grin), so go get that visa!
May the triune force be with you grin grin grin
So inspiring. Thank you girl. You are a darling.

zeeLady:
My VISA was approved on June 6th, 2019 at Abuja Embassy.

BACKGROUND
I went for the student VISA interview with my baby and previously, I & my family had been denied tourist VISA.
I had used every resource i could lay my hands on to prepare and I came up with my model answers to the usual student VISA questions; I could feel my confidence rise as I prepared. I got an assiatantship that covers my personal cost, however, I had a dependent cost (my baby) hanging there and my husband's bank statement hadn't the needed money to cover the total dependent cost. Well, I prayed that every document that would warrant a denial not be asked and I began listening to motivational speeches to conquer every anxiety.

In addition to that, I arrived at the embassy and met over 100 people there already! Then, it bagan to rain. I tried to wrap my baby in the baby shawl and approached the security officers to allow me do my biometrics and interview. They did! I became one of the first 15 people to be interviewed. I was eventually interviewed by the same VO who had previously interviewed my family and I.

ON THE INTERVIEW DAY

ME: Good morning (with a smile)
VO: Good morning, pass me your Document
ME: Passed our passports, 1-20s and SEVIS payment confirmation
VO: Where do you work?
ME: I am an Bleep working with (I looked exactly into the eyes of the VO and said the acronym for were i work, I instantly realised there was a look of dissatifaction on his face so I immediatly went ahead and said the full name of the acronym. He kind of paused as I spoke and by the time i was done, i could see he was more interested in me).
VO: What degree are you going for?
ME: Bleep
VO: Why are you going with your son? (Honestly, at this point, I could feel the favour of God working. My baby is a girl NOT a boy, but I also have a son and I was looking for the right opportunity to pass the information to the VO so he would know I am leaving behind not just my husband but my son aswell. On the face of it, the VO thought my baby was a boy because of the way i wrapped her due to the rain).

ME: You mean my son (pointing behind me, as if my son was behind) or my daughter (pointing to my baby who i was carrying)?
VO: (Now realising I have a son) Who will take care of your son?
ME: I answered
VO: What are you gonna do to your baby while you studying?
ME: I answered (I had my corrrespondence with some daycares and i was ready to show him if he asked but he never asked)
VO: why are you going with just your baby and not with your son also.
ME: (I hugged my baby a little bit and told him how young and very dependent my baby still is).
VO: How old is your son?
ME: I answered
VO: How long have you been married?
ME: i answered
VO: Are you still married?
ME: (I smilled and then answered)
VO: how are gonna pay fo rthis?
ME: I have an assistantship and the rest will be taken care of by my husband
VO: What does your husband do?
ME: I answered (But not very fluently at this point. I was partly thinking what i was going to do if he says i should show my husband's statement. The money there wasn't even up to half of the dependent cost. I found a way to gain composure somewhere in between my lines).

VO: He kept typing and I was looking intently at him and saying to myself, ''you must grant me VISA''. It looked like forever but he kept typing. I smiled until my smile faded and i kept waiting for him to stop typing. Time stood still!
VO: (Finally what I was waiting for) I have approved your VISAs.
(He brought out the two white papers and began to run down all the pickup and port of entry lecture, I pretended i was listening but my ears were merely physically present).

ME: Thank you.

No single document was asked. Everything worked for my good including the rain! I cant thank God enough for how he answered my prayers .
Nigerians with our selfish attitudes. We don't need to hear the gist on how your Visa was approved, all we want to hear is the useful informations in your story that can help others achieve what you achieved, not these I answered, I answered that you gave us instead of giving us the useful details.

Let's not be selfish here. You gained something from other people's Transcript. Why did you refused to let someone gain something from your own Transcript the same way you gained from someone's.

It won't reduce your your funding or take back your Approval if give your Transcript in details.

Fairheart has not been active here for like weeks now, which is unlike him and no one has ever noticed him or asked after him.

You know, sometimes, those guys deserve some kind of encouragements that will make them want to do more of what they have been doing. No one is paying them to help here, but they are doing it freely from the depth of their hearts and they enjoy doing it.

If we get to know how busy these guys are but still find time from their busy time to attend to our issues here, maybe then, we will learn to appreciate them and stop insulting them even when we are not comfortable with their comments and when we find their comments absurd.

Our Fairheart, where have you been. Hope you are good? We miss your contributions here and we'll love to have you back as soon as possible.

I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of you guys for the good work you have been doing here.

Bracelum, Fairheart, Brown2Green, Lagosismyhome, Time2win, Shawarma, Agreatman, Walspring and others. You guys are wonderful. You deserve more than just a few words. Thank you for taking out of your busy time to make others succeed as well. I pray the Good God will reward you for your good work and stand for you whenever you need help.

You guys are just so wonderful. You deserve the best.
