Fears are growing that Qatari women’s rights activist Noof al-Maadeed has been killed by her own family after she went missing in mid-October.

Noof had been fighting to change the laws in Qatar, where women have effectively the same rights as children and are not allowed to get jobs, travel outside the country or access healthcare without the approval of a male relative.

After a series of attempts on her life, al-Maadeed fled to the UK and had been planning to apply for political asylum.

However, she was persuaded to return to the Middle-Eastern country after being given private assurances by the Qatari authorities.

Shortly before returning to Qatar from the UK, she told social media followers that "if I'm not online, I'm dead".

Teachers in public secondary schools in Ogun State are getting worried over the rate at which teenage girls are turning smokers.

In recent times, no fewer than three videos have surfaced on the social media, wherein girls of secondary schools were seen filming themselves as they derived pleasure in smoking shisha.

Holding the hoses to inhale from the hookah and puffing up heavy smoke, the girls in their teens got excited, singing and dancing before the camera.

The most recent of such videos emanated from some students of the popular Abeokuta Girls Grammar School (AGGS), Onikolobo.

DAILY POST gathered that one of the girls is the daughter of a justice in the Ogun State judiciary, in whose house the ugly incident took place.

Earlier, a girl was captured on camera, smoking right inside the classroom at a secondary school in Sagamu.

Also, another set of girls in Ijebu axis of the State had gathered in a room to sate themselves with shisha flavour, billowing thick fumes into the air from their mouths and nostrils.

In all of these, the Ogun State Government has refused to speak out on what it is doing to put an end to the worrisome development, even as teachers accused government of policies that made them handicapped when it comes to instilling discipline in their students.

When contacted, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, said he would not disclose what the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration was doing to address the rising level of indecent behaviours among school children.

“We are taking steps to address it. We are taking a number of steps. Just be monitoring what is going on. I don’t want to be talking, I mean, everybody is calling me here and there. You will be seeing what we are doing. There will be releases from the ministry. Okay? Thank you,” Arigbabu tersely told DAILY POST in a telephone conversation.

But, teachers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) in Ogun State blamed parents and government for happenings in Ogun public schools at the moment.

ASUSS Chairman, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, in a interview with our correspondent, expressed sadness, saying “what we are witnessing in our schools today is as a result of the collapse of core values in the society.”

According to Lasisi, the present generation of students have been brainwashed by the society that they would not make it in life unless they engaged in social vices.

“The students have been sold with the lies of Yahoo-Yahoo, they don’t believe in perseverance anymore. They want themselves to be recognized in the school. They want to be identified as ‘big boys and girls’ in the school. It is as a result of the collapse of the core values in the society.

“Students are no longer ready to learn, they only want to engage in all these extracurricular activities that will enable the society to identify them as big boys and girls. The reason is not far fetched, it is because the society too only recognises those adults with unruly behaviours. They believe nobody will recognise them If they are of good conduct in the society.

“Moreover, these students are not fools they know what is going on in the society, in the government circle where government gives amnesty to terrorists, where they negotiate with kidnappers and so on. These students want to resemble them,” he said.

Lasisi maintained that teachers in school do not have the political power to stop the social vices, saying not even principals could exercise full authority when it comes to punishing a learner for any deviant act.

“We (teachers) are trying to do our best, but you know we don’t have the political will to put a stop to these menaces. The teachers are already handicapped because we are in fear to exercise full authority on the students. You cannot exert punishment on the students any longer because of the aftermath. If you punish any students, the parents will have the guts to bring hoodlums to the school and attack the teachers and even the school head too.

“The school heads can no longer exercise full authority on these students because they cannot expel any student from the school, irrespective of the offence the student would have committed. No principal has the right to expel a student from the school without authority from the state government. So, the heads of schools find it difficult to exert discipline in the school,” he added.

The ASUSS Chairman spoke further: “The solutions to these problems are many, it only depends on how the government wants to look at it. In the first instance, parents need to wake up to their responsibility because some parents believe these children are bigger than them, they have already surrendered their roles to their children.

“The teachers are already overstretched in the schools. Parents should inculcate moral attitudes in the children. Then apart from these, I think there’s a need for government to set up guidance and counselling units in all our schools and they should be mounted by professional counselors, because a counselor use both positive and negative enforcement to advise a troubled student. If these students are already troubled, there is supposed to be a trained counselor to guide them properly.

“Apart from this, there is the need to also empower the PTA (Parents and Teachers Association). The PTA is no longer buoyant financially and any group or association that is not financially buoyant will be inactive. So there is the need for government to allow parents to collect PTA support levies so that they will be able to mobilize themselves. The parents belong to these association, they should be able to talk to their members.

“Government can equally introduce military or paramilitary officers to maintain discipline in our schools. It was done in the olden days, in the early 80s and late 70s where we had military officers in all the schools.

“On the issue of corporal punishment, I think it’s high time government review this policy. We are not saying corporal punishment should be totally imposed in our schools but those aspects of the corporal punishment that will only correct wrongs of students should be introduced to the school. Nowadays, in nearly all our schools in all over the federation, there is no heavy punishment that will follow any wrong done by any student.

“In the olden days we’ve seen students uprooting the root of a tree; we’ve seen students who were caned and the students won’t go home to report to their parents because they know they served the punishment in good fate. They know they were wrong that was why they were punished.

“But these days, the reverse is the case. The teachers can’t punish the students, because the students would go home and report to their parents and parents will come and mete out punishment on the teacher thereby assaulting, beating and brutalizing. Some will even destroy the school properties. The government should just put in place some measures to correct these things.”

The father to the dead 12-year-old pupil of Dowen College, Lagos, Sylvester (Jnr) has explained that the students who bullied his child, were once suspended temporarily by the school after they asked the boy to describe his sister's private parts. 
According to the bereaved father, known as Sylvester Oromoni after the incident of bullying was reported to the school, the young boy was taken from one hostel to another but the bullying persisted and even though he had initially planned to remove his child from the school, he reconsidered because his elder sisters were schooling there at the time. 

The aggrieved father said Saturday, December 4 is his son's birthday but he will celebrate it regardless of his demise.

“He said the boy couldn’t stand because his waist was bent and swollen along with one side of his belly. His mouth was black. I asked, ‘Is this really a football injury?’ He was taken to my house in Lagos but couldn’t sleep at night.

A shocked and anger as a middle-aged man suspected to be a ritualist has been set ablaze in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Ogidan Yussuf, a 40-year-old logger has been nabbed for allegedly cutting the genital organ of his employer, Oluwo Shakiru, and assaulting his wife over loss of equipment.

Start a Blog/ Website

It seems pretty obvious that I would start with this. After all, I'm a blogger and you're reading this… on my blog. Not really sure what a ‘blog' is? It's basically a website- with a more personal feel.

Is it REALLY a genuine way to make money online?

Abso-fricking-lutely. My friend, when I quit my job to travel Europe in a motorhome, I started this blog as an online diary. I didn't even know you COULD make money with a blog. Less than two years later, I'm making more than many of the full-time staff my husband employs (admittedly, CV is about to severely damage that, but I'll find ways to adapt, just like everybody else.)

NOTE: Blogging is NOT easy. It's not an idyllic, chilled, only work 10 minutes a day and then go lie in the sunshine and read a book. It is HARD WORK. Like, possibly the hardest thing I've EVER done in my entire adult life- and I'm an ex-Navy helicopter navigator and an air traffic controller…!! (On second thoughts, working with some of my ex-colleagues may have been harder…!) Still, being able to be your own boss and work from home is EPIC and worth all the effort.




How much money can you earn blogging in the UK?

Like most online income, how much you can make depends almost entirely on how much time and effort you're willing to put in. Anyone who says you can make good money within a month is lying to you/ trying to sell you something! But you CAN make decent income within 12 months, and most likely a decent full-time income within 2 years.

Start a Youtube Channel

Yeah, sticking with things which are hard work!! � But starting a youtube channel is honestly a genuine way to make money online. Admittedly, I have found more success with my blog- but that's because I prefer writing to being on camera. It's not my happy place.

BUT, the world loves video. People watch countless hours of Youtube EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. So if you know anything or can show anything or have any skill at all, start a channel and see what happens!  Do you know how to play guitar, to sing, to grow vegetables, to save money, to clean, to do yoga… literally ANYTHING you can teach people.

And no, it's not ‘over-saturated'. How many times how you read an article on the same thing? Heck, how many posts/ articles have you read on how to many money online (like this one!) People are happy to watch something similar said in a different way, so don't let that fact that you're just starting put you off!

Is it really a genuine way to earn money online?

Definitely- if you're dedicated. But again, it's a lot of work. I've had my channel for over 2 years and I barely make £100/ month with it. On the flip side, I know others who have had a channel for just over a year and are making several thousand pounds a month regularly! Also, it's free to set-up and start -you can begin with a camera either on your phone or laptop, so there's no big outlay of expenses. Why not give it a go!?!




My top tips for making money online with Youtube? Pick one subject and talk about it a lot. And post 2/3 videos a week for maximum growth. I barely do one a week, so I'm definitely not an expert, but there are plenty of videos on Youtube about how to start and grow on there- and I do believe there's room for us all!




Teach English Online

Teaching English online is a fantastic and genuine way to make money online- especially in the current climate while people can't go to actual lessons. If you are an English native speaker, companies are BEGGING for you to come and teach their employees or students, especially if you're from England or the UK. (Don't panic if you're one of our English-speaking cousins around the world- there are PLENTY of opportunities for Americans, Canadians and Australians to teach English online too. )

Is it a genuine way to make money fast online?

Fast? Possibly not- although it's a heck of a lot quicker than starting a blog or a Youtube channel! But it's not going to be instant and, depending on which company you sign up with, there will be checks, trials and you might have to work for free for a short period while they assess you. But realistically you can be making decent money within a couple of months. Expect to make around £8-£10/ hour without any qualifications; more if you have one.

But it will mostly just be your time and effort which goes into creating the course- so if you have that then it's a great way to get some money coming in within a short period of time.

Start a Podcast

Did you know you can make money podcasting? Oh yes you can. It's another one where you need to build an audience first and then work on getting sponsors, but some people make over £100k a MONTH with their podcast!

I personally have never done or uploaded a podcast, but I know many bloggers who do them as an alternative to a Youtube channel- and these are some BIG bloggers! There are a million tutorials on Youtube and Google to get you started if that's something which appeals to you.

Anywhere where there is writing, there's normally an opportunity for freelancers.

Nigerian Top Monarch, Ooni Of Ife, has been called out by his teen lover.

The mother of Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s first child, Omolara Olatubosun says the monarch was an absentee father who failed to take care of his daughter for a number of years.

The monarch had recently recounted his experience having his daughter, Adeola Ogunwusi at the age of 19, adding that parenting comes with challenges.

In a touching note via his Instagram page, Ooni described Adeola as his closest friend and great confidant.

“Profoundly, life taught me to exhibit an abundance measure of resilience, compassion, determination, and above all empathy which my daughter sought from me. We formed an unbroken bond, shared in our joy and challenges as my closest friend and great confidant,” he had written.

“She is and will always be a huge blessing to me and life successes. I celebrate you, Princess Adeola Ogunwusi for being the epitome of my strength and dignity. Your tenacity, doggedness, and unshakable optimism to be the best in life are unarguably lifelong lessons that I cherish in you.”

However in a statement issued on Tuesday, Olatubosun said there was no iota of truth in Ooni’s post.

She described the relationship between the monarch and daughter as “short and uneventful”.

She was born in Akobo, Ibadan, in May 1994 as a result of a teenage relationship I had with Adeyeye Ogunwusi, now the Ooni of Ife, who was then also a teenager, neighbour, and family friend. A Nigerian man in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, United States is going to federal prison for his role in an identity theft scheme in which conspirators tricked 10 banks into sending duplicate debit and credit cards, then used them to buy merchandise for resale in Nigeria.

And his lawyer said his criminal cohorts in Africa "took advantage" of him 

US District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan sentenced Sulemon Arowokoko, 32, to 3½ years behind bars, Nigeria Abroad reports.

Arowokoko and another Nigerian man, Samiat Akinyemi, were indicted in 2020 on charges of conspiracy, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Arowokoko pleaded guilty in June.

He admitted that he was part of a conspiracy to steal the identity of bank customers to get duplicate debit and credit cards in the customers' names. The criminal group then used the cards to buy more than $250,000 worth of gift cards, clothes, perfume, jewelry, and furniture. Arowokoko shipped some of the items back to Nigeria.

Assistant US Attorney Jeff Bengel said the theft ring was sophisticated. One member used personal information from a victim and contacted the person's bank to "hijack their account."

Once inside, the group asked for new bank cards to be issued in the person's name and sent to an address connected to the conspiracy. One of those addresses was Arowokoko's house in Pittsburgh; a second was a house where he had previously worked as a home health care aide.

A Zimbabwean man has killed his family.

He fell into a trance while praying with his family and allegedly grabbed an axe before hacking his wife and two children to death.

A Nigerian man named Arinze, who claims to be a pastor in training, has been nabbed after he allegedly defiled a little girl and attempted to use blood from her vagina for spiritual activities geared towards making his church grow exponentially.

Persons have have died unexpectedly after a worship center located in the southern part of Taraba State collapsed. Sleekgist report


The church popularly called Holy Ghost Church, was said to have been brought down by a heavy downpour that lasted for several hours. sleekgist.

Located in Abed Pave community in Chachanji town of Takum Local Government, the church, DAILY POST gathered, came down while service was ongoing.

This, as further observed by our correspondent, came barely one week after the local government council was submerged by flood , which kept travellers stranded for several hours.

In addition to the two persons confirmed to have died as a result of the accident, several worshippers were also said to have escaped the scene with serious injuries.

Confirming the report to our correspondent, the council chairman, Shiban Tikari, said from the report made available to him, no fewer than two persons lost their lives in the process.

Though agreed that he is yet to visit the scene, he is, however, optimistic that the council would work out modalities to assist the church in question.

Also reacting, a former Supervisory Councilor of Chachanji ward, Mathew Adega, who also confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the two victims are male and female.

Adega, who could ascertain the numbers of persons that sustained injuries as at the time of confirming the incident, however, agreed that several church members left with one form of injury and the other.
