It is true because by now, most applications to German schools for MSc programs would have closed for winter semester (October) but you can apply against summer semester (April) next year. German schools take a longer time to process admission unlike UK. But if you are for PhD and you get the scholarship, you can write to a supervisor at any time and if you get a positive feedback, you can start at an arranged time. You don't necessarily have to wait for April or October but this also depends on whether your supervisor is in a University or a research institute. I am a PTDF PhD scholar, I started the same year I got the scholarship, I got the success email around mid August, wrote to a supervisor and was lucky to get a positive response within 1 week and I started in November.

I have tried searching for universities in Germany where I can apply for PhD in Civil Engineering and carry out research on asphaltic materials but to no avail. You have a way out?

I am equally expecting as well. But just coming here exuding confidence about a date something would happen would happen and when you are asked source, you go off. Looked smhw really. I understand the urge to wana say something/shalaye but no come here dey say list go come out last Wednesday, this Friday and so on when you are not sure of jack!

Anything could be influenced by the new economic realities, this scholarship could be deferred, anything can happen. Last year is different from this YEAR abeg!!!

You pulled up your comment citing when it happened last year not when it will happen this year. That's very fine and constructive. Some people just have the attitude just wana be deciding on behalf people who doesn't know jack abt them & cant even defend their unfounded predictions

Yes, there was a particular year the list was released towards the end of September. Awardees were asked to report at Abuja for induction, those with admissions and passports were asked to submit them for UK visa and they were flown to the UK after the induction. The rest were asked to wait till January.

I noticed the emphasis on professional membership. Infact I was given line two hours to provide them since I have them but didn't come with them. I had to go get them quickly

I went with publications and awards. they didn't even ask. But it casually slip that when one of them asked if I had an award the Msc. and I showed him the offer letter for the award. Their emphasis was on professional membership. I had like six. That was what prompted them to ask me to bring the PRoposal. I think there is a grading for the written proposal. Let us keep our fingers crossed.
Yeah, unlike b4, no grade for award and publication. I don't know what they will use again. We shall see

Germany being in recession should not be a reason not to select it because advanced countries like it know how to ameliorate the effects of recession on their citizens such that you only hear about it in the news but you don't feel the effect much.

Also, if you get the scholarship in the GFM category, you can switch between Germany, France and Malaysia but not to UK and anybody going to UK can only go to UK and cannot switch to the GFM category. Though, for the 2022 scholars, there is a little exception for Germany scholars and they are allowed to change to the UK because of some delays with the PTDF/DAAD partnership but this is not usually so
