Acidosis:
Okay, let me be practical as briefly as possible; you cannot pay back a N1m loan in 18 months if you put the whole cash on a small or micro business. 100% turnover in 18 months is possible only on high risk businesses, and who in his/her right senses puts a short-term loan on a high risk business? Remember you'll feed, clothe, and pay rent.

The man advising you against driving may be right after all. Some of these guys will only lure you with how much they make daily. They won't tell you how much they spent on fuel, repairs, tax, registration, servicing and most importantly, how much they saved after a year. More often than not, they end up with nothing at the end of the day.

There are manufacturing companies around you. Many of them need independent distributors, these roles are never advertised. Why don't you do a quick research? Who doesn't want someone that will help improve his/her sales?

Alternatively you can try some desperate measures like buying a car from a desperate but legitimate owner (one in dire need of money) and reselling for a better value. With this, you can even pay back the loan in 1-2 months, use the gain to launch your business. This like I said is a desperate move.
thanks for ur reply sir... I went to masaka market today to visit a sister of mine, she told me to go into selling of this new rubber sandals and shoes, that's what she sells..

To an extent, I agree with Ifyalways. It is dangerous to use a loan to start a business especially with the conditions around both you and the loan.

What experience do you have with doing business? What business have you done that you made some measure of headway? That should naturally be your first point of call.

But since you are to return the entire amount within an 18 month period, and since you don't seem to have much experience and assistance from others (I could be wrong tho), I will advise you try a business venture that keeps your funds as liquid as is possible. That is you should be able to convert whatever you are doing into a level of cash pretty quickly.

Outside of the money market which you may not be able to invest in as the returns on 1m are quite small, not likely enough to sustain you, I would say you should try buying and selling fast moving consumer goods. Indomie, cooking oil, foodstuff basically.

Depending on where you live in Abuja, maybe kerosene or diesel purchased from any of the NNPC mega stations.

Something I always do myself. Walk around your area and try to get a feel for what business can move relatively quickly in your area.

And be careful about any one advising you on a scheme or deal that will return your investment in quick time. ESPECIALLY FOLKS ON NAIRALAND
thanks sir, i will take my time to monitor this kerosene business... Someone told me that it's good...

Don't invest the whole money in a single business at the same time. It's to minimise the risk you are taking. You don't want to be telling the man stories after 18 months.

I wish you the best
ok sir.. thanks..

Sorry but I'm not sure I've got any advisory for you BECAUSE I am not a fan of starting/trying a business venture with a loan. I'm old school and firmly believe that the best way to start a business is by saving up for it yourself that way :
You'd be super extra careful before you dabble into anything considering that you'll always remember how hard you laboured, deprived yourself of certain pleasures before you could put the money together.

If the business flops, you cry, pick up some lessons and move on without hbp as opposed to thinking of how to repay gbese if it was a loan.

All the best. Shine, Shine, Shine your eyes. Real business in Nigeria grows slowly. . . Don't expect to make much profit or hit a jackpot in your first 3 years. It takes at least 4 years to break even. If anyone tells u otherwise or lures u into a fast money making venture be ready to lose your money. Since you asked for my opinion let me quickly add that I would return that money if I were you so I can have rest of mind. I can only accept or take loans for dire health issues :- my opinion.
thanks for ur time ma, i mentioned u because i always read ur comments here, and u have also assisted me financially b4...

how i wish i can go into details, bt i am nt a good writer, the man is like an Uncle to me, though we are from differents states... i am very sure that i won't be under pressure to pay him back..
my plan was to do taxi business in abj her for sometimes and raise capital bt noone is willing to buy a car for me because of thier past experiences..
and this same man said that i should nt use the money to buy a car that it's nt a good business.. so that's where i am confused.

How do you want to pay back 1mill in 18 months when you want to earn 80k per month?
thanks for ur time sir, bt from my own calculations if i am saving 80k per month i think i can raise 1 million naira in 18 months (80 000 times 18 months is 144000..)bt i know i can still make more than that, that's why i am seeking for advice here...

CAN and NSCIA both got N10 million for the building of a National mosque and church in Abuja in the 1980's.

CAN , I think, thought that N10million would not be enough, started fundraising for a National Ecumenical Center as early as 1992/3...and work started around that time, but was not complete till 2006.

There was a lot more to the above story though.
u are right... christians were waiting for the government to come and build the church for them, Atiku donated 3 billion naira to complete the mosque.... It was later that Rochas gave the christian 500 million naira to complete the church...

the only i may forgive is if the lady happens to confess to me by herself without me seeing them.. bt if she allows me to catch her first then their is no going back..

mikeywise:
you opened a thread in February, where u said that u are based somewhere else other than abuja. how do you reconcile that?
thanks for ur time sir, the story is really long bt let me try to summarize it....

like i said b4 i came to Abj in the year 2006, i didn't jst came on my own a woman that owns a restaurant at area 3 Garki brought me to Abj, and she was paying me 3k then per month.... my plan then was to work for 2yrs and then save money and buy a bike (okada )

bt along the line i discoverd that if i should be collecting my salary then i would be eaten half of it or even more b4 month end...(i didn't know much about opening a bank account then )so i told the woman to be saving my money 4me which she agreed.....

after 2yrs i wanted to go bt she told me nt to go that she wants to help me in life that i was very hard working..... so i stayed back... her promise was for me to go and learn how to drive then she would buy a car for me as a hire purchase.... So january the following yr i went to area 10 opposite ship house for driving school, and within 2 weeks i was done....then she sacked her driver she then added 1k to my salary.. And i drove her till december and she didn't for once mention about buying the car again...

so one evening she called me and told me that as i have already known that Abj is too large, that i need to drive her for atleast additional 4yrs to master the road..i became weak..i told her no that i want to leave, she later said it might nt take up to 4yrs again bt i refused...
so the woman brought a register that the time i was incharge of drinks that 46k got missing, she gave me money to go to driving school, i left her shop open people fetched her water, so i must pay for the bills, and the end of the day my balance was 1500 naira after more than 3yrs....

i went to Garki police station to lay a complain, and the end of the day when they invited her the case turned against me, i was locked up for 3 days.....

so i had to start sleeping outside then with hausa people, after a while i got another restaurant job close to Garki market (Bonoze catherine services ) one day a man came there and ate after few minutes he came back that he left his phones and money there, no body saw it, the man took all of us (the workers )to police station again, beat us broke our legs, and the man did nt even bother coming again so after few days the police said we should call people to come and bail us..

then i got another job at Asokoro hospital canteen, the woman was paying me 7k bt because of my hard work within 5 months i was receiving 15k. my plan then was to save money and buy a small car.. then one hausa man from Niger republic usually come there to eat, the man loves me so much, one salah festival the man even gave me 50k so the following yr the man called me one day that he doesn't like the job that i was doing, that i should bring my cv that he wants to give me a job. When i told him my qualification he was disappointed, it was myself that then told him about a car he said his friend is a custom officer that they were selling some cars then 14 seats for 500k so i begged him to assit me, since i had only 250k, i went to oceanic bank then a widrew the money and gave to him.. And that was the last time i saw the man till today, his number never went trough again...

i still continued my work, there was a time a bomb blasted at Abacha barrack, a guy came from there that our madam should employ him, his name was David from cross river, the madam employed him..... the madam usually give me money to keep, to settle for drinks and fishes, that day she gave me 250k to keep, she has been doing that for more than one yr, when i woke up that morning, i could nt see my phone where i plugged it, all my colleague were looking for there phones, i quickly went to my bag where i kept the money and it was gone... I could nt believe it, the new guy was nowhere to be found... He ran away with everything.....

i quickly went to my madam house to tell her, she said it was a lie or, that it was me that brought the boy to steal her money, so she took me to AYA police station again, after questions the police said it was nt my fault that she should go and look for the boy, bt after much talk i had to tell them that i was going to work until the money completes, bt along the line she asked me to go and look for another job..
i was weak, i have worked for yrs bt nothing to show for it, then in 2011 i gave my life to christ and started going to church... i became so dedicated that i was ordained as a minister after 2yrs and later the church opened a branch in Mkd (Benue state )all the while i was in the church i was nt paid, i wore one suit until the color changed, bt i still did nt give up, so when i relocated to benue in 2015 to help the church grow, bt after 2 yrs numerically the church grew (i have video bt i can't post )bt there no money when the head qtr saw that the burden was much on then they had to close the church again.....

by then my rent in Abj had expired, no money to renew it, so i had to remain in benue, it was when the killing became too much that i went to abj again to stay with one family, bt i can't over stay there, though i do help them to do some work so i always switch that's why i it looks as if i live in 2 difference places...

bt where i have been all the yrs is Abj.......
