WB literally handed them the story and asked terrio to do alot with a script that already had much going for it. The whole mess of the dceu is on WB. Zack was never hired to initiate a dceu from the get go. He was in the middle of MOS and asked to make a cinematic universe. There was no pre plan or anything. WB never intended a straight up BvS, it was a Superman trilogy but it didn't do avengers money and they had to force in the big 3. If I am to judge Snyder, I wouldn't use the dceu, it was an afterthought.
