IMPOTENCE is the condition whereby a man cannot attain or maintain an erection that is sufficient for satisfactory completion of a chosen sexual activity. Impotence is common and it affect at least 1 in 10 men. IMPOTENCE happens in all situations when sexual activity is attempted or it can be circumstantial - where there is erections in some situations but not all. For instance, the man may have good erections in the morning but fail to have or maintain erections when he tries to have sexual intercourse with his partner. Identically, a man who is experiencing impotence often feels embarrassed and guilty that he finds it difficult to talk about the situation, even with his partner. Instead, the man may manipulate happenings so that he avoids situations in which sexual intercourse may take place. Take for instance, such a man may be staying up late at night so that his partner is asleep before he goes to bed. Or working longer hours in his work place than usual. So that he is tired in the evening, goes to bed earlier than his partner and is asleep when she retired to bed. Another tactic is to invite friends and relatives to the house all the time with the aim of reducing the number of 'private time' he has with his partner. He may also begin to go out more during the day, so that he won't be around when his partner needs him sexually. Equally, men can have avoidance HEADACHE when it comes to sex, just as women are traditionally known for.
