Education › Re: Is National Open University Accredited? All You Need To Know by PUMPIN11(m): 9:46am On Nov 04, 2025 |
I am interested in running a post graduate program in Business Admin. Hope it's not late yet to still get admited for 2025/2026 session? Your insignts will assist so much. Best regards. paulkit: When it comes to pursuing higher education in Nigeria, one of the most frequently asked questions by prospective students is whether the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is accredited. This question is crucial because accreditation determines whether a university is recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and whether its programs are valid and respected both within Nigeria and internationally.
In this article, we’ll answer the question “Is National Open University accredited?“, explore the NOUN accreditation process, and help you understand the importance of accreditation for NOUN degrees.
What Does Accreditation Mean for NOUN?
Accreditation is a formal process in which a university’s programs and courses are evaluated by a national or international body to ensure they meet certain academic standards. In Nigeria, the National Universities Commission (NUC) is the governing body responsible for accrediting universities and their degree programs.
For students, attending an accredited university means:
Degree Recognition: Your degree is valid and recognized by other institutions, employers, and governments.
Quality Education: The institution meets established academic standards, ensuring quality learning and proper facilities.
Global Opportunities: Graduates from accredited institutions have the opportunity to apply for international scholarships, jobs, and higher education programs. Is National Open University Accredited?
Yes, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). NOUN offers accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines such as business, social sciences, health, education, and science.
1. NOUN’s Accreditation Status
NOUN has undergone a series of evaluations by the NUC, and its degree programs have consistently met the academic standards required by the commission. This accreditation means that NOUN’s academic qualifications are legally recognized and valid, both in Nigeria and abroad.
NOUN’s accredited programs include a wide range of courses designed to provide quality education for students who wish to pursue higher education but are unable to attend traditional campus-based universities. Through its distance learning system, NOUN is able to reach students across the country and around the world, offering them a chance to earn valid, NUC-recognized degrees.
2. What NUC Accreditation Means for NOUN Students
For students, NOUN’s accreditation status guarantees that their degree certificates will be recognized by employers, government bodies, and other academic institutions. Graduates can confidently apply for jobs, pursue further studies, and even seek scholarships, knowing that their degrees are valid and accepted.
What Programs Are Accredited at NOUN?
NOUN offers a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across multiple faculties. All the programs offered by NOUN are accredited by the NUC. Some of the major faculties and programs include:
1. Faculty of Arts
Bachelor of Arts in English Bachelor of Arts in History Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts Bachelor of Arts in French Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Studies
2. Faculty of Social Sciences

All the programs listed above are fully accredited by the NUC, meaning that students who graduate from these programs will earn degrees that are valid and recognized by institutions around the world.
How Does NOUN Accreditation Affect Graduates?
NOUN’s accreditation directly impacts the future of its graduates. Here’s how NOUN’s accredited status benefits students:
1. Employment Opportunities
Graduates from NOUN are eligible to apply for jobs with government agencies, private companies, and international organizations. Because NOUN is accredited, employers recognize the qualifications of NOUN graduates and consider them for various positions in the job market.
2. Pursuing Further Education
NOUN graduates can apply for further education at local and international universities. Whether you want to pursue a Master’s degree or a PhD, the recognition of NOUN’s degrees means that you are eligible to apply to top institutions worldwide.
3. Eligibility for Government Programs
NOUN graduates can also apply for government programs such as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), civil service positions, and other government-run schemes. The government recognizes NOUN’s accredited degrees, ensuring that graduates can access these programs. Why is NOUN’s Accreditation Important?
NOUN’s accreditation status is critical for several reasons:
1. Ensures Degree Validity
Without proper accreditation, a degree from an institution cannot be considered valid by employers, other universities, or government bodies. NOUN’s accreditation guarantees that the degrees earned at the university are valid, legally recognized, and respected by various sectors.
2. Maintains Quality Education
Accreditation ensures that the university maintains a high standard of teaching, learning, and research. NOUN students receive quality education that meets national and international standards.
3. Opens Global Opportunities
Accredited institutions are accepted in international academic and professional circles. As such, NOUN graduates can pursue global opportunities without the limitations of unrecognized qualifications. How to Check if Your Program at NOUN Is Accredited
If you’re unsure whether your program at NOUN is accredited, here are some steps to verify:
1. Check the NOUN Website

My mum's response when I asked this same question soe years back; "Yes parents do have favourites, hoever, its only a useless and unfortunate parent that will declare one as favourtite, it is not even supposed to be made obvious" obembet: My Dearest Nairalanders,. here we go today!
I strongly believe All children in a family should be treated equally, to prevent psychological problems. But sometimes, parents do have a special favourite.
Although, it is possible for parents to have a stronger emotional bond with one child over another, though this can vary based on numerous factors. The funniest part is that Most parents are not aware that they may have a favorite child and generally feel that they love all their children the same.
Is there anyway to love all the kids in a family equality? |

ErebeOcoco: The growing trend common in people these days is, I don't go to church but I am a spiritual person. Some would say I do good and I love God but I don't belong to any church.
Is it possible to love God, do good and not be affiliated to any denomination?
Religious experts, can a man claim to be a child of God without devotion? Very good question! Now, before I share my own belief and take, you will need to define the last word "DEVOTION" you used. Let me know your own pespective as against what devotion generally mean and then we can have a conversation. #TeamWeLeftChurchNotGod |

unzend: Hello everyone, I need your opinions on this issue that’s causing some interesting situation at home.
I’ve been working fully remote for two years now, taking care of the kids and managing the house after moving into a state in Nigeria from Lag. (I was hybrid before and go to Lag weekly before- not easy). Last Friday, my wife came back home from Lag - we stiĺl maintain our house there cos she works there , and everything just went upside down.
I stepped outside to take get somewhere, and she checked my phone (we’re recently being locking phones). She saw a pregnancy scan on my phone that mentioned something about “breech presentation.” The thing is, this scan isn’t mine! It belongs to my Farm worker’s wife. He showed it to me while talking about her condition, and I took a picture to keep it for him for hospital records and future reference. That’s all.
When my wife saw it, her mood changed instantly. She started asking me tough questions, but I gave vague answers cos I knew her tendedncy to have persismistic thoughts and conclusions. Haha! She concluded I got another woman pregnant. Before I knew it, she called my mum, then my dad. That same evening, my dad came over to comfort her. From his expression, it looked like he also thought I messed up. I just excused myself and left the room.
Now, my mum and dad have called me, saying they’re disappointed and telling me to repent from “adultery.” I got upset and told them I’m a grown man who can make my own choices, and I haven’t done anything wrong.
She informed all my in-laws and says my FIL is really angry.
The while situation has sent my wife into a spiral—she’s paranoid, heartbroken, and acting sick. She’s telling me to pay off this “woman,” block her, and never speak to her again. I told her I won’t do that cos the woman may have being her!
Right now, I’m just letting things sit to see how it plays out, but the tension between us is heavy. My wife is not herself, and my parents are treating me like I’ve sinned. She even acted up to the point She was prophesying my Downfall cos of my Adultery. Like in the spirit the 30 minutes straight. I just dey shake my head.
What's your opinion about this, I plan to keep it on for as long as I can withstand the drama. You are y typa guy bruv.....Since she had asked the relevant questions and you have answered "sincerely" but she somehow still believed what she wanted to believe, let the game continue......I am a tough player too, cos you won't sha go and admit what you didn't do, but you see that "convinction" wey she want, she no go get am so freely.....leggo bro! |

Health › Re: Are Your Kidneys Ok? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health by PUMPIN11(m): 9:37am On Mar 13, 2025 |
Dpharmacist: Hello, Nairalanders!
Today is World Kidney Day (March 13, 2025), and it's the perfect time to talk about one of the most hardworking yet ignored organs in our body—our kidneys!
This year’s theme, “Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health,” is a wake-up call for everyone to take kidney health seriously.
Why Should You Care About Your Kidneys?
Your kidneys might be small, but they do a lot to keep you alive and healthy. Here’s what they do every single day:
✅ Filter waste & toxins from your blood ✅ Control blood pressure by balancing fluids and releasing hormones ✅ Regulate essential minerals like sodium, potassium, and calcium ✅ Produce red blood cells to prevent anemia ✅ Keep bones strong by managing calcium and phosphate levels
But despite all this, kidney disease is a silent killer. It doesn’t show symptoms until it’s too late. That’s why early detection is key!
Who is at Risk?
Certain people who have the below are more likely to develop kidney disease. Are you one of them? Check the list below:
⚠️ Diabetes – High blood sugar damages the kidneys over time ⚠️ High Blood Pressure – Strains the kidneys, leading to failure ⚠️ Family History – If kidney disease runs in your family, you’re at risk ⚠️ Obesity – Increases your chances of diabetes and hypertension ⚠️ Smoking & Excess Alcohol – Damages kidney function over time
If you fall into any of these categories, it’s time to take action now before it’s too late!
How to Keep Your Kidneys Healthy
🟢 Drink Plenty of Water – Helps flush out toxins 🟢 Eat a Balanced Diet – Avoid excess salt, sugar, and processed foods 🟢 Exercise Regularly – Keeps blood pressure and weight in check 🟢 Monitor Your Blood Pressure & Sugar Levels – Prevention is better than cure! 🟢 Avoid Smoking & Limit Alcohol – Protect your kidneys from damage 🟢 Get Screened Regularly – Simple urine and blood tests can detect early kidney disease
Warning Signs You Should Never Ignore!
🚨 Feeling tired all the time 🚨 Swollen feet, hands, or face 🚨 Changes in urination (color, frequency, or pain) 🚨 Persistent lower back pain
If you notice any of these, see a doctor ASAP!
Let’s Spread Awareness!
Your kidneys work 24/7 to keep you alive—so show them some love today! Whether it’s drinking more water, eating healthier, or going for a check-up, small actions can save lives.
💬 What are you doing to protect your kidneys? Drop your thoughts below! Let’s make kidney health a priority. Than you for this piece! |

Dear Poster, Some of us are just hanging in there 'cos that was what we signed up for. It takes great wisdom and intelligence to know even ahead of getting married, that there will come a time when all the glitz and glamour would have died-down and the true reality of marriage that comes with lots of responsibilities and commitments vis-à-vis loss of "absolute freedom, will eventually play out. For me, love itself is a "commitment and as such, whatever you are committed to, you will always work at, irrespective of the rosiness or not. Each partner must however from time to time review the state of things and try as much as possible to bring back romance into marriages despite the challenges that naturally comes with the "over familiarities" #Shalom Iamgodskid: A QUICK QUESTION TO THE MARRIED FOLKS HERE ... ... ... During the early stage of marriage, there's usually this level of serenity n respect for each other but as time goes on, the story changes n then over familiarity n all the sh*t that comes with it, starts to set in,
with the level of "over familiarity" involved in marriage,
how do u guys still maintain the honour and regard for each other despite having seen n known everything there is to see n know about your partner...
You know how people can be most times, they start behaving funny when they finally get settled comfortably with you,
