Plot:


In the prologue stuff you see 47 and Diana begin their work together and some of 47’s training with his employers the International Contract Agency (ICA). One of the ICA higher-ups is Eric Soders. He doesn’t like 47 (jealousy?).

Fast forward a couple decades...

Paris: 47 is contracted to kill Novikov and Margolis who are shady people that sell stolen government/corporate secrets. Novikov had just days before wiped away his own criminal past by hiring a guy (The Shadow Client) to kill a guy who was investigating Novikov. In return Novikov paid the Shadow Client with secrets about “the world’s elite”. Cutscene also suggests that the Shadow Client is the one who ordered the hits on Novikov and Margolis

Sapienza: 47 is sent to kill DeSantis and Caruso who work for a pharmaceutical corporation called Ether. Ether doesn’t like Caruso’s side project which is a virus that could be used for personal vendettas. After the mission, a cut scene shows that a shady organization called Providence is very unhappy that these two were killed. It shows that The Shadow Client is the one who ordered the hits in Sapienza and that he is working against Providence.

Marrakesh: 47 is sent to kill a Moroccan general and a corrupt banker Strandberg who are involved in a conspiracy to overthrown the Moroccan government. In the cutscene after the mission it is revealed that Providence is behind the coup conspiracy and now they are very concerned about the Shadow Client. We also learn that the Shadow Client was able to acquire a key that allow access to a Providence vault that contains all their secrets. Shadow Client now knows who the members of Providence are.

Thailand: Hits are ordered on Jordan Cross (son of media giant Thomas Cross) and his lawyer Ken Morgan. After the hit Thomas Cross comes out of seclusion to attend his son’s funeral. He is assaulted by a mercenary team and kidnapped at the funeral. It turns out the hit on Jordan Cross was a ploy to get to Thomas Cross (a key member of Providence). This was all the Shadow Clients plan. The ICA is mad about the Shadow client’s abuse of their services. All the previous hits were ordered by him! Eric Soders (high up at the ICA) orders a strike on the Shadow Client and his team who are tracked down to a base in Colorado.

Colorado: 4 militia/terrorist members who work with the Shadow Client are killed by 47. Sean Rose was part of the team that kidnapped Thomas Cross.

As 47 is leaving he discovers a bunker that the militia was using. All their previous targets are lined up on a map in there. All the Targets are members of Providence. And Omg Eric Soders is a member of Providence!

Also The Shadow Client was watching 47 in Colorado from a Sniper’s nest. He comments that he knew 47 from their childhood in an orphanage.

Hokkaido: Now we know Soder’s is working for Providence and was abusing his power for personal gain. He needs a heart transplant (specifically a reversed side heart which is very rare). Providence bribed him with a heart to use his position at the ICA to go after the Shadow Client. ICA doesn’t allow these type of conflicts-of-interests so Soders has been selected for termination along with a yakuza enforcer. 47 kills them.
