Hey Guys, Good Morning... HAPPY SUNDAY to us All

Abeg Nah 1 matter fly enter my head this Morning And I go Like make SENIOR MEN FOR THIS THREAD help put Mouth and Contribute...

INTELLIGENCE, SURVEILLANCE AND RECONNAISSANCE (ISR) AT THE FRONTLINE WITH THE USE OF ANIMALS

With Reference to the UAV/Drone matter wey we discuss the other day, me I bn dey think sey WHAT OF SWITCHING TO THE USE OF HOMING PIGEONS for Photographic Espionage of the BOKO-ISWAP Territories, Plans and Activities.....

ACCORDING TO HISTORY::

Homing pigeons were widely used by both American and British forces during World War II. In fact, the U.S. Army had an entire Pigeon Breeding and Training Center at Fort Monmouth, N.J., where the pigeons were trained to carry small capsules containing messages, maps, photographs and cameras. Military historians claim that more than 90 percent of all pigeon-carried messages sent by the U.S. Army during the war were received.

The birds even participated in the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944 because troops operated under radio silence. The pigeons sent information about German positions on Normandy beaches and reported back on the success of the mission.

My brother, U see ehn, this Boko Haram Madness ain't surprising a bit Anymore.. Wetin make me Give up be sey HOW CAN THE LIKES OF LATE ABBA KYARI, BABAGANA MONGUNO (National Security Adviser), SENATOR NDUME (Chairman Senate committee on Army), LT Gen BURATAI (COAS), MAGU (Suspended EFCC chair) ALL COME FROM BORNO STATE AND YET WITH THEIR POST AND INFLUENCE, DEY NEVER FIND ANY MEANINGFUL AND CONVINCING SOLUTION TO THE BOKO-ISWAP MENACE having Borno has its stronghold....

Inclusive Also, ALL THE PARAMILITARY AGENCIES have Northerners as their BOSSES except (FRSC), And Yet still no Difference.. Do u now think NOT BN ABLE TO ACHIEVE A REASONABLE RESULT SO FAR IS A MERE COINCIDENCE... We Really have to Wake Up and Face the Ugly Fact

Let's be Realistic at this Juncture, BOKOHARAM Issue Nah Politics by the Northern Elites, Simple as ABC...

May Her soul rest in Perfect peace...

ALSO IN THE NEWS:

(1) The Counterterrorism Unit (CTU) of the Nigerian Police force, Maiduguri Command Rescued 2 Soldiers Kidnapped by the boko boys (https://nationalaccordnewspaper.com/police-rescue-soldiers-from-boko-haram-after-attack-in-borno/)

(2) Gen Adeniyi (Immediate past theatre commander, OPLD) to Face General Court Martial on the 20th July... Report has it that His Summin to the AHQ Garrison Might not be Unconnected to His Activities while he was still the OPLD theater commander (https://www.sunnewsonline.com/adeniyi-ex-opld-commander-to-face-court-martial/amp/)

NOW, THESE ARE MY QUESTIONS.......

(1) Since this is the 2nd Time the Nigerian Police has shown their Undisputed Capacity in dealing a heavy blow with the Boko guys, WHY CAN'T THE GOVERNMENT JustMobilize them to Work hand-in-hand with the Army and Airforce.??

(2) As for Gen Adeniyi, seems I already see this coming, so Is it now a Crime to Open up on the Rottenness of the Army Higher Authorities...??

Bro, no disrespect but this sounds too theoretical

In an actual war setting with stressed men and a dire situation, how would a lieutenant maintain the calm?
Haba Nah, I understand U brother...

Your first priority must be to become worthy of leading them. Lead by example every day and in everything you do, whether it is at physical training, on field exercises, or on the range. Face it, you will have to prove yourself every day as a lieutenant. Put yourself in their shoes and take a hard look at yourself.
(1) Would you follow a person with your standards?
(2) Would you follow a person with your level of tactical and technical expertise? Do not be a hypocrite.

If you expect the soldiers to meet a certain standard, ensure you exceed it. Stay cool under pressure and be a calming presence in the platoon when things get stressful. Remember this when you arrive as a new platoon leader, you are like a transplanted organ. THE BODY (PLATOON) EITHER ACCEPTS OR REJECTS YOU BASED ON YOUR PROFESSIONALISM AND ATTITUDE.

What about the level of respect a young lieutenant can expect from his troops? particularly the very experienced NCOs...

Can we start a conversation about this?
There is a Great piece I'd love to share on this topic...

THE SUCCESSFUL LIEUTENANT
(by CAPTAIN CHRISTOPHER J. COURTNEY, currently the commander of Alpha Company, 306th MI Battalion at Fort Huachuca).

He Highlighted what he termed as THE TEN RULES OF SUCCESS (AND RESPECT) BEING ACHIEVED BY A LIEUTENANT

(1) Lead from the front
(2) Put the Troops first
(3) Lead Via ur Platoon Sergeant and Squad leaders
(4) Training is your No 1 priority
(5) Inspect what U expect
(6) Know what U do not know and do something about it
(7) Guard your Integrity
(cool Understand the roles of the other leaders
(9) Learn to make do with Scarce resources and personnel
(10) Remember to have fun and never lose ur sense of humour

HIS FOOTNOTE....

The lieutenant years are some of the most rewarding and memorable of your Army career. I will not mislead you and tell you that every day will be pleasant, but as you meet all the challenges, your confidence will grow. You will experience both great successes and many disappointments along the way. If you remember the points listed above and use your common sense, you are well on your way. Learn from your mistakes and do notrepeat them.

IN CLOSING, YOU WILL NOTE THAT NOWHERE DID I HIGHLIGHT OFFICER'S EVALUATION REPORTS OR HOW TO IMPRESS YOUR SENIOR RATER. IF YOU ALWAYS LEAD BY RIGHT EXAMPLE, TRAIN YOUR TROOPS, TAKE CARE OF SOLDIERS, MAINTAIN BOTH YOUR EQUIPMENT AND YOUR INTEGRITY, AND DEVELOP YOURSELF AS A PROFESSIONAL, THOSE MATTERS WILL TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES.

PERSONAL TRAITS THAT CAN AFFECT LEADERSHIP:

(1) Ambition
(2) Drive and tenacity
(3) Self-confidence
(4) Psychological openness
(5) Realism and
(6) An insatiable appetite for learning
(7) Integrity and Character

THESE PERSONAL TRAITS MANIFEST IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS.

(1) Do you stew over a decision alone, or bring in trusted advisors for candid discussions?
(2) Do you allow yourself to be influenced by other people, changing your position in light of better analysis by a subordinate?
(3) Are you a procrastinator who wants more and more data – more certainty – before making a decision? Or are you impulsive, making a snap decision based on your gut instincts?
(4) Will you impose your will on the organization, or seek a productive consensus that aligns the entire business with your goals.
