geez: NIGERIA IS NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!!!!!!

As I keep reminding you people!

Nothing going on in Nigeria which hasnt happened before and in other places, for crying out loud! Kenya and Uganda also have deviant separatists- how has it stopped their govts from functioning?

You're in the UK: why not direct your attention to the problem of rising uncontrolled knife crime and what the British govt is doing to prevent it!

Why do you fellows always squeal like sacrificial sacrifices over every little thing!!!! grin

Are you not African? Even if you're isreali, ya DNA skin no dey black again? grin

Honey this particular thread is about some Yoruba youths specifically targetting Igbo traders in a town called Owo in Ondo state.
That is the scope of this discussion.
Pointing fingers at crimes all over the world is not the issue.

You tell us this is not normal in Yoruba towns.
where is it normal?
Is MEND as old as Nigeria?
Is kidnapping a normal act?
didn't they crop up one day upon us?
what do you call normal ?
Is a Chief justice of a nation slaughtered like nama in his own house normal ?
How about a taxi load of passengers disappearing and body parts found in a river,is that normal?
How about a man impregnating a mad woman because the babalawo/witch doctor says it's his prescription for wealth
Is that regarded a normal act in any part of Nigeria or an ill that has befallen us.
We have to be careful.
These blatant denials and finger pointing is not helping anyone
and to do it when the evidence stares you in the face is quite absurd

Has nothing to do with "male bashing". You girls should quit being daft

If anything we're poking fun at the mentality of most of the dudes on this thread. Stop crying because your Nairaland bfs are offended grin

Point remains alot of woman esp Naija women take on alot of bullshit in order to save face for society. Being in denuial because a foreigner knows the truth as well isnt going to change anything

so if you like keep foaming at the mouth. "generalizations" ko. accusation ni grin

Tell me one thing Nigerian men do that Brazilian men don't
I'm not saying our men are perfect but Brazilian men that chase everything in a skirt including their little girls that dress like hookers from the age of 8 does not equal to "all Brazillian men are perverts"

There is a difference between ostentation and insulting someone in his/her  own fatherland for not being as succesful as you . That's one thing creating creating too much animosity between black Americans and nigerians. Same factor.

Is there any defense whatsoever for a criminal activity?
Are you unable to cast off the cloak of tribalism and call a crime a crime
than giving all these idiotic pediatric excuses
you seem to know details of these criminal acts than the reporters shocked shocked shocked
they may need you  and your expertise to crack these cases

I hope you're not in anyway insinuating that Yoruba youths kidnap and loot individuals from other tribes in their homeland that seem richer than them
That's what anyone who stumbles on this thread will get from your posts here.

Your examples are ludicruos. A problem can only be solved if nipped from the bud. If the ibo traders are walking over owo youths not only ostentatiously but talking down on them without minding their emotions, it could trigger a thing alike this. i'm just offering a solution so that such a thing will not repeat itself again because after this, it may diffuse to other communities in Ondo and beyond.

Not at all.
Your way of thinking can be very strange and I'm not the only one who's made that simple observation.
You said the Igbo traders may have been targeted because of their showmanship amongst jobless disgruntled youths and I ask you why you should not be kidnapped and shot for daring to drive a car amongst people who are trekking ?
same logic

IMO KIDNAPPERS REDUCE RANSOM FROM 500 MILLION NAIRA TO 250 MILLION NAIRA

Kidnappers cut down ransom on ABC owner’s wife

http://news.dailytrust.com/content/view/4927/27/

Written by John Kennedy, Owerri

The kidnappers of Mrs. Ngozi Nneji, wife of the ABC transport owner, who had earlier demanded a N500 million ransom before her release, have now cut down the ransom to N250 million.

Mrs. Nneji was recently abducted in a broad daylight by unknown persons in Owerri, Imo State.
Weekly Trust gathered that the family of Chief Frank Nneji, the husband of the kidnapped woman, was said to have offered N50 million for her release which the kidnappers have rejected.

There are indications that the woman may spend more days with kidnappers if nothing is done urgently to save her.

It was however gathered that well meaning citizens from the state including the Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Bishop Anthony Obinna who on radio yesterday over the matter, appealed to the kidnappers to release the woman.

Meanwhile, the state police command has denied knowledge of the kidnap.

The PPRO, Linus Nwaiwu, told newsmen that the command has not yet received any formal report about the incident.

It would be recalled that the woman who is the manager of May Fair Suit, Owerri, was kidnapped at the premises of the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese Headquarters after an evening mass.

They may be Ekiti indigenes by your logic

BTW Texcee/arnold1, isn't this getting too old ?

You are right but what am suggesting is that ywe shouldn't close our eyes to other sources that may be responsible for the crime. A crime of hate is very heinous and should not be tolerated. I think they should also look into what triggered it. Did the ibos trigger such animosity by their overt showmanship among youths in a town that has no jobs or whatever to offer its youths?

You sink lower by the minute.
You remember the treacher in Gombe named Oluwatosin that was killed by almajiris because she"defiled the Koran" and yet no Koran was found
Is it possible to argue that she perhaps caused her own killing ? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
In the same way when armed robbers shoot at you and take your "jeep" you probably brought it on yourself by driving in a flashy car amongst people riding molues?
How about 419ers?
they probably had no choice, they need to make a living
are you kidding me ?

imagine or even ijaw or hausa. Also lots  of Benin poeople are jobless  riffraffs and their proximity to Owo may be a cause for concern.

This time the kidnappers happen to be Ondo youths.
there are now almajiris in Ondo targetting Igbos.
that is an ethnic crime and should not be taken lightly.
That's how ethnic cleansings start
and those that fold their hands or live in denial are just as guilty

Depends on who's targeting them? It be an ibo on ibo crime.

The earlier you got your head out of the sand the better for you.
There are kidnappers all over Nigeria including Ondo.
These ones happen to be Yoruba youths targetting Igbo traders.
You can deny and spin it whatever way you'll like to
If that makes you feel better.
Like I said earlier, the traders ought to arm themselves to protect their property.

He said the suspected militant youths abducted sixteen Igbo people in the last one-year and huge ransoms were paid before they were released to the Igbo community According to Chidozie, "These militant youths just enter our stores at will, carry our goods and ask us to pay certain amount of money before they will release these items.

They will just kidnap that person who argues with them and take such person to their cell. After, they would demand for ransom which start from N100, 000 and above, they would not release the victim until their demand is met."

If these people were not Yoruba militant youths,I'm sure the traders could tell.
They did not come from Katsina or Yenegoa
Politics / Re: Kidnapping - A truly Nigerian phenomenom as Yoruba youths join the party by Queenisha: 3:12am On Sep 16, 2008
Targetting the Igbo traders is what I find annoying.
Are there no Ondo traders in Owo ?
why pick on Igbos ?
If they must kidnap, they should kidnap their own people and don't make it a tribal war.
Igbos can't be targetted by almajiris of Kano and Gombe
Now almajiris of Ondo.
That is not right.

It's not a spin but a possible fact. It's those that know you very well that can easily value you and know whether it's worth it to kidnap you or not.

Traders don't usually hide their wares
How would people know what they're selling?
does one need an oracle to tell that a trader selling ladies shoes probably has several pairs in his storage area
I'm surprised you are coming to the defence of these useless hooligans

the 76 year old baba that used his rectum as a ghana must go was also influenced by an Igbo man.
The "most wanted " criminals here in America are Igbo men that adopted Yoruba names.
and those that looted our treasury were smoking Igbo and then became Igbo grin
I bet Yorubas don't kidnap

Kidnapping is not a new thing in Nigeria. There have been a lots of kidnappings in hausaland, iboland etc even before the ijaws started a career in kidnapping. I still think the ijaw has a hand in this ondo thing or it could be the ibo that is kidnapping their brother afterall, how will the locals know how much those ibo boys have if not for inside information?
Kidnapping is becoming a serious issue in Nigeria now and i think armed robbery is slowly getting out of fashion.

Is that your spin on this whole thing?
Hmm
Maybe it's the Igbo men also stuffing cocaine in their anuses for transatlantic trading.

@tope2000 abacha is an Igbo delicacy made with cooked and sliced cassava
It is white in colour resembling sliced Irish potatoes and can be eaten with coco nuts or  perm kennels or peanuts.
It can also be made into some sort of salad with okporoko, palm oil and potash

the prononciation is different from Sani Abacha LOL
