The federal government alone cannot solve all our problems. the community is just as relevant. see how we leave all the problem for the federal government to solve. we make them too powerful and overburden them with some things our community can easily handle. example here are some of the problems we have in our country today andq how community can easily solve it. security, crime, education, poverty, entrepreneurship, fake news, corruption etc.

see my brother, I like organized groups, organized school, organized religion too. but my community in kogi state is disorganized, we don't know each other, a stranger can come into our community today, kill someone and get away with it.

the residents are disorganized and lack of information and disconnected from each other. but luckily we have tools like Facebook, WhatsApp, these tools are meant to connect people together, but I see how people abuse this tool.
Politics › The FG Makes Communities Powerless, Causing Over Dependence by Queenlovely(op): 12:43pm On Jan 03, 2021
The community is the foundation of the larger society. once the foundation is wrong, nothing will work in that country. our community has been weakened. the federal government is overburdened, everybody is complaining, we expect the federal to solve all our problem. making the federal government too powerful.

I have a remedy for this misnomer: let me use my own local community as an example, anyigba, kogi state. in this local community we have myriad of problems, from cultism, religious intolerance, poverty, murder, etc this little community is the microcosm of the larger society. we have to solve our problem starting from the community level.

PROBLEM NUMBER ONE; Lack Of Information
a community need to have a comprehensive list of all the residents within that community. how can you make informed decision when you don't even know your own residents. see crime is hard to commit if information is readily available. a community that can tell you how many kids, adults, girls, boys, pregnant women living within their territory. we know who a stranger is.

PROBLEM NUMBER TWO: Lack Of Connectivity and communication between residents.

I can bet my left leg that most people don't know their next door neighbor, in the morning every body leaves as early as 5 O'Clock. because we are gradually shifting to individualism, which is not even our culture.

my suggestion is that we group everyone in the community into group of 30 persons, every resident must belong to a group. each group must have a WhatsApp group and a leader. it will bond the members together.

CREATE A MATURED FACEBOOK GROUP FOR THE COMMUNITY: The Facebook group I see online today is just fcking useless, they have nothing to add to my life. a mature Facebook group is supposed to be a place to share information and ideas, residents with forth coming project can announce it there. instead of posting fliers all through the community, just make announcement on the community group.

GROUP THE MEMBERS ACCORDING TO THEIR SIMILARITIES AND INTEREST.
for those who like football, group them together, group father's, mothers, children, landlord, footballers, employees, tenants etc each of them should have their own group leader.

MOST IMPORTANT IS THIS; NEVER ISOLATE THE COMMUNITY.

this is what is destroying the community structure today, little community exist that individually they are powerless, they over depend on the federal government for funding. but if they were connected to other smaller community, the federal government would fear them.

a community may have the best information available but if it does not reach out to other communities, it's strength are useless. let me explain this with an example. assuming the whole of Abuja have a good COMMUNITY structure, a man cannot kill someone else and run to Dei Dei to live. they would easily fish him out. the communities can pool fund together to carry out projects relieving the federal government of some stress.

Family › Re: My Sister Wants Traditional Marriage In The City: Is It Normal? by Queenlovely(f): 7:21am On Dec 14, 2020
evuna:
Most of those people saying that it's normal are not igbos or some of those woke people. My aunt met her husband in germany but they did their traditional marriage in the village. someone stood for them. I have watched some British events and they always praise their tradition.

Don't let anyone deceive you, stand your ground. Not everyone should go home. Besides, colleagues can attend the white wedding in the city.

I am sorry to as, which state are you from. Enugu or anambra person will never conceive such. Marriage is not between two people in igboland. it is between two communities. That's why we value the concept of "ogo".

Once allowed, always allowed. Except your sister isn't getting married to an igbo person. Think about when her children atttends a kindred meeting, someone will remind him that her mother wasn't properly married. No matter how polished you are, respect traditional institution unless it goes against your Faith.

People even travel from abroad to do igba nkwu in igboland, let alone those in Nigeria. Go to the North, they respect their tradition, same with the south West, but they are here telling you that it doesn't matter. Can your sister's children sit in an igbo gathering, that issue will come up.

what about August meetings, can your sister fully participate? She is very young and might feel she doesn't need village people but time will tell. Those highly read people in my community finally succumbed and are even spreading traditional views.

You are the Okpara, if you allow it. You have not done well. Act like an Okpara.

I want to tell u this secret, RESPECT is the pillar that holds any relationship, respect is what most human desire for. we work because of respect, we provide because we want to be respected,

we even throw money during party, to be respected, we see how big men are respected during occasions, and we work hard for it, don't ever disrespect anyone.

most of our girls don't respect anybody this days, that is why they don't want to stay in marriage, most of the men don't respect their women too. men need respect and not love

i have sleepless night sometimes, not because of my family issues, but because of northern nigeria, I want to know why this people are like this, why they behave abnormal.

northern nigeria vs southern nigeria are like two roommates with opposite lifestyle,

when it is time to pay house rent the southern boy has already prepared his rent, waiting for the northern guy to do the same.

when the northern guy is able to gather his own rent, he uses half to play bet 9ja and the rest to pay offering in mosque.
