We are proud of what we have achieved over the years. The Headies stage has birthed the careers of many artistes who are of A-list status today. We are also glad that we have reinstated pride and prestige into the winning of a locally organised music awards and, we have celebrated artistic ingenuity for 10 straight years; a feat no other group before us was able to achieve.
Every year, the screening team collate all creative materials released in the year in review and screen for nomination. This tedious process goes on for at least three months before the screening team comes out with a final list. The voting categories, such as ‘Song Of The Year’, ‘Artist Of The Year’, & ‘Next-Rated’ are left strictly for fans to vote and choose the winners. We wish to say categorically that we do not tamper with the outcome of the voting process. The limit of our involvement in this voting process is to advice the nominees to engage their fans and solicit for their votes. We do not accept any responsibility for failure on the
part of the nominees or their record label, when they fail to do this.
Unfortunately, most times, Voting, Year In Review and Definitions Of Each Category, are generally taken for granted by many artists. We can also attest to, and hereby state categorically that, there is no evidence that any of the artistes aggrieved and vocal about their displeasure to the
turnout of the award, voted in the ‘Next-Rated’ category, as our voting process captures email addresses and phone numbers.

We have ensured that the awards happened regardless of sponsorship, and that it gets better with each passing year, without giving excuses about challenges. We may not have
gotten everything 100% right, but integrity has been our watch-word. The 109 Nigerian artistes that have won can attest to the fact that they did nothing different from those that have not. Awards by nature, are and will always remain, controversial except every nominee gets one.
We try to ensure that winners are within reach before announcing their category, as the whole essence of celebrating talents will be defeated without that.
While it is not out of place for an artiste or a party to vent their disapproval, we strongly condemn all kinds of improper conduct and the use of profanity on live television. In the same manner, we condemn provocative comments. In all, we see no use or reason for a disgruntled artiste or party to destroy valuable properties put in place to give them extra comfort before they perform or come on stage. This is totally unacceptable and will be addressed.
We congratulate all nominees and winners of The Headies 2015 and wish them a more successful 2016.

Mavin Boss, Don Jazzy was not happy about Olamide’s reaction to Reekado Banks winning the Next Rated Award. This was after Olamide stepped on stage to slam HipTv for not giving the award to his protege Lil Kesh.
Don Jazzy gave a lengthy speech on why he doesn’t like Awards in the first instance then concluded by saying that if Olamide wanted the car given to Reekado Banks he can come and pick it as he already promised the Katapot singer a car.

Olamide threw jabs at the headies after Adekunle Gold won The best alternative song and took to the mic to yarn to who it may concern in yoruba language "Iya Yin" as he smashed the microphone on the floor. He is of the opinion that Lilkesh is entitled to the Next Rated Category Car which was won by Rekado Banks of the Mavin.
Donjazzy did not let the heat down as he replied him directly when he collected the award for the producer of the year that: Brother Olamide if you want the car, come and collect it.
This led to sudden disappearance of Olamide from the award ceremony with his goon and no where to be found when he was called upon for his own award.

The House of Representatives, has charged its Committees on Education (Basic and Tertiary) to stop the compulsory N75, 000 laptop fee foisted on students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), by the university authority. The resolution followed the unanimous adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Rep. Bashir Babale (APC-Kano).

Moving the motion, Babale decried the university’s policy of charging every new student a compulsory fee of N75, 000 for the acquisition of laptop computers, adding that “this policy is arbitrary, inhuman and so sad that they are making access to education difficult for the people. Nigerians are anxious to study, in order to contribute, to the growth of the nation, but this policy makes it difficult”, Babale added.
The lawmaker, who pointed out that education remained a vehicle to national development, stressed a need to correct the current imbalance in the sector.
Many Nigerians, according to him, are living below the poverty line and are finding it difficult to pay the compulsory and outrageous laptop fee.
Babale said he decided to urge the House to stop the compulsory laptop levy, so as not to deprive Nigerians from having access to quality education.
“In a situation where young people are complaining of educational imbalance, how an institution can come up with this kind of policy,” he queried.

He further decried a situation where some tertiary institutions in the country solely depend on students for the general running of the overhead cost of the schools, revealing that “students are paying fees to construct roads and culverts in the universities.”
It would be recalled that the students of the school had called on the Education Minister to look into the levy matter earlier this December.
