kedeojo: Condemned the actions of the governor, which is politically motivated. If they have been in good terms, will be sealed it. Jobs are about to be lost. Right, the Governor is dealing with his perceived political enemies, although in this case, Nwanosike admitted he violated the law. But as a citizen, I'm more concerned with good governance than taking sides in their fight. |

How much is the salary of LG chairman that he can build such big hotel? Obviously built with looted funds.
One of the vital keys for good governance is to block all loopholes for looting by public officials. Until this is down, Good Governance remains a pipe-dream. |

Well, it's the job of police to deal with any potential violence. You can't because of fear of violence, deny people their fundamental rights to protest.
Better still, Tinubu can do the needful and avert the protests. |

Politics › Re: Protests Against Economic Hardship In Nigeria Likely To Be Hijacked, UN Warns by Quest7777: 9:41pm On Jul 23, 2024 |
The protests will likely escalate out of control. Reason being that there is widespread hunger in the land. And we all know that a hungry man is an angry man.
But then protest is fundamental right of a citizen. So the option left for Tinubu is to urgently address the issue of hunger & hardship in the land.
Hungry Nigerians want to see immediate results of his actions not audio promises. |

Are we even supposed to be celebrating this minimum wage?
It's like giving Panadol to someone with malaria, at best it temporarily takes care of the headache symptom, but not the malaria.
Unless something drastic is done about the rising inflation and the attendant hunger and hardship, there will soon be another renewed agitations for new minimum wage. |

lexy2014: if you say "Meeting with the so called leaders of protest will just be to "settle" them", how is it different from what I said?
what do you think transpired behind the scenes during "The NLC meeting to simply agree on minimum wage for organised labor"?
if you know that "Meeting with the so called leaders of protest will just be to "settle" them", what do think NLC was fighting for when they were negotiating for minimum wage?
how do you drop your demand from 250k to 70k?
why do you think that the NLC always threatened strike on several occasions, were invited by tinubu to be "addressed", then all of a sudden they suspend the strike after being 'addressed"?
why do you think the NLC went on strike for minimum wage and called it off after 24hours without achieving anything with the flimsy excuse that they called off the strike to enable them negotiate? Let me ask you. What do you think is the solution to the hunger and hardship millions of Nigerians are currently suffering? You think the solution lies in inviting some vague "leaders of protests" for address. |
Politics › Re: NLC Asks Tinubu To Invite Leaders Of Planned Protest, Address Grievances by Quest7777: 11:54am On Jul 23, 2024 |
lexy2014: NLC knows that they are saying. It's you that does not understand. It's the same way NLC always made noise about strike and minimum wage. With each noise, they got invitation and Tinubu "addressed" their grievances. In the end, they called if the strikes and settled for 70k.
They expect that the protest issue should be resolved the same way. They might also be invited Meeting with the so called leaders of protest will just be to "settle" them. It will not in anyway address the hunger and hardship millions of Nigerians are suffering. The NLC meeting was simply to agree on minimum wage for organised labor. That's a completely different scenario. |

helinues: Are those in other regions planning to also have a destructive protest, if the answer is yes, what are their indigenes doing to avert it? You are still assenting to my point that people's allegiance is to their regions or ethnic Nationalities. Even SE that declared they would not be part of the protests; it's not because they are satisfied with the Govt of the day, but because they don't want to be unduly victimised and used as scapegoat. |

Let those who want to die for the country to go and do so in whichever regions they come from.
Why is that too hard to comprehend. You missed the point. Never said it's a crime. Point is Nigeria is not a Nation. We are better off existing as our different Ethnic Nationalities. That's where our allegiance lie. You are OK if there are protests and mayhem in other regions provided it does not affect your region. |

People are not ready to die for and defend Nigeria but are ready to die for and defend their ethnic Nationalities.
People are OK if there are protests and mayhem in other regions provided their regions are not affected.
