The issue is that southern democratic presidents over 13 years FAILED to provide the basics of governance and institutionalised corruption (which was the hallmark of jack booted military dictators), yet the campaign for their reelection was intense in the south, so you have no moral authority to chide any northerner for supporting their preferred candidates.
