yunqdady:smiles.. yea no one is doing any competition with u over anything.. every professions has its ups and downs, but what we medical aspirants, students and respectable medical graduates have done is weigh the ups and the downs, and decide to focus more on the ups , strive towards the ups, develop passion for the profession despite been fully aware of the downs, and derive maximum fulfilment in it.. and for the issue of Nigerian doctors struggling with plab and usmle, well those exams are tough for everyone and not just Nigerians alone..despite d various challenges Nigerian medical students and doctors face , they are still one of d international doctors with a very high success rate in plab and uslme( intact there is a publication where Nigerian doctors abroad were acknowledged to b one of d best internationally trained doctors in terms of competence, hard work, and skills... like I said earlier, no one is competin with u, but dont come to a medical forum and begin to falsely downgrade the profession... 4 Likes 1 Share |

all that is required in medicine is for your brain to b able to register large load of stuffs at a very short period of time, store them for long period of time and produce/retrieve those stored stuffs as quickly as possible when asked of u.. |

yusman14:how is medicine also sub-branched at the level of undergraduate.. let me give u a pix of wat medicine at the level of undergraduate means...imagine all the engineering causes (mechanical, chemical, civil e.t.c ) are merged to form a course called say GENERAL ENGINEERING.. this General engineering is what Medicine and surgery entails..in medicine u offer complete biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, medical microbiology , pharmacology( note these are Individual courses people study for 4years) then then u touch the whole branches of medicine and then surgery... secondly, the MB exams is not just semester based, but u are asked questions from 2years' work including oral exams that u av just 10-15minute to proof that ur stuffs are still intact .now after undergraduate, there is an exam know as primaries, here u will b asked detailed questions from 200l wup to 600level..this continue and continue till u retire.. medicine may not be d most complex brain tasking course( I give dat to physics, maths and those aerospace guys) but medicine is unarguably the most cumbersome and bulkiest course requiring highest level of brain retaining capacity in the world 1 Like |

Oluwaseun1995:I'm telling u but I must confess the guy is very knowledgeable considering his age and present educational exposure, he is yet to gain admission but knows what is happening even up to area of specialisation in medical fields..and in like 80% of cases he is right. Op, I understand your drive and the reason y u want to study medicine and trusy me that drive is all u need to scale through medscul..but on a lighter note, and like what zeeknow opined, medicine never ends, as a matter of fact, u are just starting after your mbbs decree except u want to be a general practisioner..to b candid with u its goin to b a very long and stressful ride filled with probabilities and tension and at a point, u gonna regret doin it considering your age presently..I understand that u wanna help d sick, but doctors are not the only ones that help d sick..in nursing, pharmacy, radiography, after your first decree, your carrier kick start, but in medicine u get to spend another long years and stress in a residency again; a pathway that will enable u specialize ..these are just some of the things u shud consider if u haven't.. but if u have considered everything, the pros and cons of starting med at ur age and some of the sacrifices u will make( there is a diary written by one TONYE001 guy, pls go through it) then its a good one, and like another poster aptly said, past question, past question, past question.. the need to study past question cannot b overemphasized.. u can take 30 minut to study just 1 question, read it, refer to ur texts, analyse d question again, identify the catch in d question, digest the topic from which d question was asked, look for other similar qiestions from differnt years and solve dem .. |

Romance / Perternity test using the BLOOD GROUP system by qwertie1234: 2:34pm On Jan 06, 2021 |
Although BLOOD GROUP STUDIES cannot be used to prove paternity, they can provide unequivocal evidence that a male is not the father of a particular child. Since the red cell antigens are inherited as dominant traits, a child cannot have a blood group antigen that is not present in one or both parents. For example, if the child in question belongs to group A and both the mother and the putative father are group O, the man is excluded from paternity. The picture below shows the phenotypes (observed characters) of the offspring that can and cannot be produced in the matings on the ABO system, considering only the three alleles (alternative genes) A, B, and O. Similar inheritance patterns are seen in all blood group systems. https://www.britannica.com/science/blood-group/Paternity-testing https://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/paternity-testing-blood-types-and-dna-374/#:~:text=In%20cases%20of%20questioned%20paternity,to%20all%20of%20his%20offspring. therefore with as low as 1k, a blood group system testing can proove with absolutely certainty that a man is NOT the father of a child, however if the child blood group shows some match, then a step should be taken further for DNA test

OyedejiIfedayo:I understand your point sir...I truly do.. but truth is medical error is pandemic, that is its not just limited to nigeria alone..as a matter of fact, there was a time when death due to medical error was among top 5 causes of death in the united state...and sir, I'm not in any way trying to defend doctors or deny the fact that Nigerian doctors make mistakes but wat I'm trying to say is that some "mistakes" people accuse doctors of making are not mistake..a times the doctor knows what he is doing and if u not in the field u will never understand.. so unless people stop bringing up false accusations on doctors, the ones with real accusations wont b taking seriousely( like what is happening in false rape accusations cases now) secondly sir, I never mentioned that those who fail to study medicine hate doctors, as that is not always the case...but pls if u can take a minute to go through all the zeeknow325 guy previous topics and post u may come up with similar conclusion with me to the medlab scientist guy u said. well truth is that his accusation may be correct since u said he confirmed from multiple sources..however you should also note that some of this tests doctors order for can look seemingly inappropriate that even a medlab scientist may not know why the doctor ordered for it- the work of the medlab scientist is just to run the test and give accurate result. hmmm ok for instance a patient may present with lets say abdominal symptom such as vommiting, abdominal bloating, pain and even constipation and the first test a doctor may request is Fasting blood sugar for diabetes if he(doctor) is suspecting diabetic gastroparesis of course based of the history he got from d patient nd his personal examination..now this test may seem inappropriate to even a medlab scientist and he may not know why d dr requested for the test cos he isnt the one dat took the history or examined d patient..hope u getting my point.. the truth is dat some errors u claim doctors make, like d one d zeeknow325 said can't even b made by a 400l medical student..how can a a qualified doctor miss high pulse rate in a patient who presented with cardiovascular symptoms..bringing up such petty accusations always will only make those with real accusations not listened to.. 3 Likes |

Zeeknow3245:someone can have 100000 beats and it wont be obvious..you have to feel the pulse rate and count it or take your time to interpret it on an ECG..brother medicine is beyong internet and google stuffs cos u sound like someone who is really spending time on google.. hmmm you call reading of ElectroCardioGraphy , radiographs and some test results simple? bros there some ECG tracings, radiographs and test results that can only be interpreted by cardiologist, radiologist and pathologist respectively only and those specialties take minimum of 4 years to attain after 6years of MBBS.. so you want to finish veterinary medicine and start law for the purpose of hunting medical doctors, write another WAEC, jamb all over again for law..so u will be practicing law during the day and vet at night..just look at what a Nigerian youth is spewing abeg.. av gone through ur previous posts and topics about doctors and i can say your hatred for medical students and doctors is palpable, it has weight and is occupying alot of space in your heart..the medicine u once loved and opted for in jamb is what u now loathe..zeeknow u dont have to feel that way ok, its bad energy..vet medicine is also a nice and lucrative course, its a proffesional course..it tedious, cumbersome and they withdraw students alot. pls channel your energy towards achieving great feets in your vet, its high time you started appreciating what you have now or else u gonna loose it too..vet cannot be used a second choice..it needs your passion, all of it or else u will be withrawn..thanks 10 Likes |

you all saying the physical protest should be this year would u want a situation whereby only 20 abi 30 nairaland students will come out that day? the need for online publicity first before we go to the streets can not be over emphasized.. no whatsapp group has been created yet, no awareness on instagram or twitter, even on facebook nothing . infact even for our own Nairaland its not on front page yet..you think protest is what you decide today and tomorow u carry it out? online protest is still a form of protest- it as, in some occasion, proven even more effective than the physical protest..lets use this year to publicise it, let every nigerian student get the privilage of hearing about a protest that will kick off soon..let nigerian student anticipate it and prepare very well for it..let the information concerning the protest go viral first , so that the turn out that day will be massive.. i badly want this protest to happen, lets not joke about it and end it up by just ranting on nairaland.. let a logo b created, let the logo flood social media, let the logo carry something like #CountdownToEndAsuuStrikeProtestJanuary4th2021.. well this is just my opinion as an aggrieved student who suffered the 2013 six months ASUU strike, 2months 2018 strike, medical consultants strike, numerous internal strike and now 9months ASUU strike.. so OP belive wen I tell u I share your intense pains and frustration but let's get it well this time, let this protest not end like d #endasuu protest carried out by some few students some months ago To those I insulted earlier in my post, APOLOGIES 1 Like |
