striktlymi: Can't find anything on the current project you guys are working on in that thread. Its information about TeHN and our past and ongoing projects. |
striktlymi: I am not sure the nature this venture will take but if it is about bringing happiness to the faces of some old folks in the short term e.g making merry their 2014 Christmas only, then I think it may just be a complete waste of time and resources.https://www.nairaland.com/1315227/e-helpers-network-tehn-official-thread |
It’s that time of the year again when we get together as one in order to put smiles on the less privilege in our society. We have decided as a group to focus on the elderly this year under the theme:” Getting together to help the elderly as we are going to need the help someday” According to Nigeria’s current estimated demographic data, there are: Poor Nigerians = 58 million Total Population = 170 million % of elderly adults (55+) = 7% Going by the figures above, we can estimate that there are currently about 4 million elderly folks living below poverty line. That’s a whole lot of people with nowhere to go for help as of when needed. We know we don’t have the resources to help as many as we would have liked but our commitment is to make some real difference no matter how small it may be. We are of the believe that a combination of small meaningful efforts by well-meaning Nigerians can make the desired change we all crave. What are we asking for at this stage? · Ideas on how we should go about this ambition of ours · Names of homes specifically set up to care for the elderly · Nominate elderly folks that you know is living below the poverty line Prospective Timeline September – Consultation October – November – Fund raising campaign December – Charity Flight Lastly, as always we would like to thank you guys for all the support throughout the years. Without you guys there is simply no TeHN. Let’s make it happen and of course let the change we crave start from each and every one of us http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/news-headlines/item/14842-economist-agrees-with-world-bank-report-on-nigeria-s-poverty-reduction-level http://www.indexmundi.com/nigeria/demographics_profile.html Regards TeHN |

JUST FOR LAFFS: At Korle Bu hospital's intensive care unit, patients always died in the same bed at 7am every morning regardless of their condition. This puzzled medical staff, so a group of medical doctors decided to observe the bed in secret and waited for the fateful hour. Some held crosses and prayer books to ward off evil influences. While the less superstitious ones held cameras, tablets, smart phones to capture every moment of this hour. At exactly 7 am, the door to the ward slowly opened, Musa the cleaner came in and disconnected the life support from the mains and plugged in his Nokia phone charger. IF YOU THINK EDUCATION IS EXPENSIVE TRY IGNORANCE. Have a super weekend. |
