What's it with this gun-wielding police force always using force to disperse groups in public?

Do Shiites not have the rights to assemble and carryout their lawful processions again?

Other religious sects like white garment churches (Cele, Cherubim, etc) observe processions too and nobody harasses them.

Let the Shiites be, stop provoking them to violence. The Nigerian state has already dealt with this group unnecessarily and unlawfully. Enough is enough, we are all Nigerians. No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any Nigerian!

EFCC's core strength is raiding and prosecuting petty yahoo boys...

When it comes to the real fraudsters, corrupt government officials and politicians, EFCC never have concrete evidence to nail them in court. All EFCC does well in this area is media trial, before or after the court rules.

Shame!

Illegality and unprofessionalism is their usual mode of operation...

And they begin to wonder why civilians are hostile.

Condolences to the families of the slain soldiers, may they find peace.

When soldiers lined up, shot, and maimed common Nigerian protesters at the Lekki tollgate in the 2020 EndSARs protest... everyone looked away. Till date, nobody has taken the fall for that massacre.

So instead of raiding and destroying a whole community over the actions of a few murderous people, they should go after the culprits.

This is 2024, and there are rules and laws guiding the engagement of the army. They should follow it.

What baffles me is how young she looks ... some people are just blessed..I just dey imagine how proud her husband must be and her children... in this life try to be ontop so your children can be proud of u ..

From different mentions, seems she isn't married nor have children ... she is already an accomplished woman career wise, let her crown it up with a family ... she has really tried ..

You can barely find any accomplished female banker in Nigeria's who's married or have kids...

Look at her qualifications...you know how tedious and how long it takes to accumulate all that knowledge and experience? That means there's clearly no time to start or raise a family.

There's no man in this world that can tolerate the work ethic and lifestyle of Nigerian female bankers...because they barely have time for family.

KPIs, meetings, education and training, and so on.

E no easy! Congratulations to her!

So in essence, Ogun generates 3-5X revenue more than Osun...

But the higher Ogun's IGR isn't reflecting on the state residents welfare...

And that's down to many years of corrupt administration and bad governance.

Thanks to the multiple factories in Ogun - if not, that state would be competing with states like Kebbi and Zamfara for high poverty level.

Their 30k/month keyboard warriors will soon flood this thread and turn the discussion upside down to whitewash their Abuja paymasters...

Because of this current hardship, I've had to refrain from commenting on National issues. I've even started adding Tinubu in my daily prayers, silently hoping he succeeds by doing the right thing - so Nigerians can find succour and find things easy again.

But with the kind of news we wake up to about this fraudulent Emilokan's administration, its clear that they're not interested in doing the right thing.

Corruption, padded budget, nepotism, barbarism, empty promises, trial and error policies and decisions... you just know he appointed dunderheads who are only interested in their pockets, not nation building.

Just look at the Senate, look at the Judiciary, the armed forces, corruption allegations against customs bosses, actions and inactions of the Police, nothing's working right.

Look at inflation and other economic indices, the propaganda and lies, what are these people doing in Abuja?

How can anyone be worse than Buhari? Didn't 8 years of Buhari's failure teach Nigerians anything?

God save our soul!

E drop for una papa house...

And those of you corn minions attacking people on this thread, e ma se oriburuku ni!

What relief? That's how you people wanted Nigerians to celebrate that Naira appreciated to 1,400 against the dollar.

Whereas, before Tinubu came with his policies, officially it was 485...and 700 Naira plus in the parallel/black market to the dollar.

Today it is 1630 Naira against the dollar, are you people still celebrating relief?

Except Tinubu makes Nigeria and Nigerians lives better than Buhari's era, there would be no good news to celebrate!

Emilokan, 10 months after - you deluded greedy political internet touts have nothing to celebrate than to attack people on Nairaland.

Sometimes I wonder if your family members and friends aren't suffering with other Nigerians...because where do you people find the motivation to defend a failing government? For how much?

They're sharing trillions in Abuja, you're getting paid 30k/month to defend their thievery. Shame!

Politics / Re: Peter Obi Alleges Presidency Is Implementing An Illegal Budget by RapportNaija(m): 6:51pm On Mar 11
emkz:
Mr Peter Obi's indecorousity and disingenuity is becoming disturbing almost to the point of mental incapacitating.

We were all here when Tinubu presented a 27.5 trillion naira budget to NASS which was well covered by print and broadcast media.
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/11/breaking-tinubu-arrives-nass-to-present-27-5-trillion-2024-appropriation-bill/

https://nairametrics.com/2023/11/29/tinubu-presents-n27-5-trillion-2024-budget-to-nass-targets-n18-32-trillion-revenue-growth/

In the recent past, Tinubu has been receiving some heat from some northern senators like Senators Ali Ndume (APC Borno South), Suleiman Abdurrahaman also known as Kawu Sumaila (NNPP Kano South) and now Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central). Their refrain is that Tinubu was running a government that was anti-north and was running a budget that was not in favour of the north. Some of them have started threatening Tinubu over 2027.

We were later to find out that the real grouse was the loss of control, for example, the relocation of some CBN departments and FAAN headquarters to Lagos. It was discovered that Senator Ali Ndume's daughter and son inlaw worked in the CBN!

Now, their argument was that the budget did not favour the north. Till date, they have not explained to us how the budget is skewed against the north. Note that the budget was passed by ALL senators. So where were Senators Kawu Sumaila and Abdul Ningi when the budget was passed that it took them two months to complain?

In the light of running down Tinubu, some of these northern senators take to BBC Hausa service to mislead their people. Senator Abdul Ningi shot himself in the foot when he alleged that Tinubu presented a 25 trillion naira budget, which was not the case.

On the basis of this evil allegation, Peter Obi latched on to release his volleys of Twitter rant to attempt to undermine the President of the country.

Bayo Onanuga's statement was a clear 5 hour difference which would have given Peter Obi sufficient time to avail himself of the true state of things before releasing what is a completely needless Twitter rant.

It exposes one thing: Peter Obi doesn't read. He swims in the mob mentality of attacking without making efforts to understand and exposes himself as a dangerous fellow to be voted to run the country.

Many will insult me and attack me for calling out their messiah. The insane ones would accuse me of being paid. Here is the big issue we face with Peter Obi and his cult: the worst fate that can befall a country is leaving it in the hands of ignorant and deluded folks who don't read before jumping to attack. By attacking, they reveal their flaws.

Peter Obi is unfit to lead Nigeria, and until he develops the mental acuity to criticize constructively, it would be a complete anathema to let him lead a country like Nigeria.

"the worst fate that can befall a country is leaving it in the hands of ignorant and deluded folks who don't read before jumping to attack..."

SMH... I understand no human is infallible, so Peter Obi shouldn't be exempted from sensible criticisms over attacks on the government.

But why do you people make myopic and hypocritical statements like this?

What do you mean the worst fate that can...

Peter Obi is the worst fate, not the incompetent Tinubu and dishonest people like you who turn everything upside down to attack Peter Obi and refuse to face the actual issue

In this budget padding case, it has been established that the Senate added 1 trillion naira plus to the budget submitted by Tinubu...so whether 3, 2, or 1... why's the Senate adding 1T to a budget that we think it's bloated already with unreasonable stuff?

When you people are done destroying Nigeria, we will all find another country to run to... But before then, enjoy your 30k monthly salary from Tinubu and keep abusing Peter Obi that you or anybody in your family will NEVER be!

Imagine after 1 year of mandatory NYSC service...

Then you're mandated to work another 2 years under terrible pay and working conditions... before you can push to pursue better work opportunities elsewhere!

Will every nurses leave Nigeria? Is there a shortage of nurses in the country?

If there's a shortage, have we tackled why nurses are fleeing the country?

Imagine something as important as healthcare, they pay the professionals trash...because they get to send themselves overseas for proper health care.

It's what they've done to the education system too. Pay peanuts to teachers, send their own wards abroad for the best education.

Most of their kids love abroad enjoying the prosperity of their host nations. The ones that live in Nigeria lives like kings and queens with police escorts, and they get all the jobs in CBN, NNPC, and the likes!

Continue, until poor Nigerians can't take it anymore. That's when you'll see the father of all uprising and protest.

APC did more damage in 8 years than all the ills we accuse PDP of doing in 16 years...

Buhari sent this country to the gulag, and may Allah punish him for that!

What's happening?

Nigeria needs to overhaul her health industry.

Many Nigerians, up to the age of 60 plus have never had regular medical checks.

Even average and rich people. Nobody cares because the facilities aren't even available or easily accessible, and are also costly.

Ordinary malaria test is expensive for many. How do they do regular and timely medical checks then?

People are walking with terminal illnesses unknown to them... This is why I avoid violence.

Imagine pushing someone that's close to cardiac arrest and they fall and perish on the same spot... you'll nearly be lynched by the mob before the police arrives.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by RapportNaija(m): 5:25pm On Feb 08
guysbewise:

I started as a self-taught, got certifications but could not get a programming job then and a recruiter even asked me how I wanted to get a programming job without a degree. That was when I decided to go and get a programming degree. Then I started getting jobs and found that most of the guys I work with are self-taught and only knew very little and that's all they like to work with so when I come up with a new tool and technique that's needed to get the job done they begin to resist it as they don't have the skills and knowledge that can only be gotten from a CS or programming related degree.

What I also find is that complex projects get abandoned as the self-thoughts who have been there for ages cannot do it because they got in with connections.

Self-taught developers who are rigid - like those you described, will be out without job fast.

Tech is growing fast, what works yesterday may not work or will be upgraded the next day. If you can't unlearn and relearn, then you have no job being in the tech development industry.

And maybe back in the days, a CS degree used to make that much sense in job security - it doesn't make much sense right now.

See what OP said he learned in 2 years, I can bet my balls - 95% CS undergrads and grads in this Nigeria can't boast of the same knowledge and expertise.

It's what it is...I get your point though.

I have been in programming now for about 2 decades and I know what I'm saying that you need connections as a self-taught to get a programming job both front-end or backend.

A CS or programming related degree gives you the skills and knowledge to learn any language you may need at work.

Those providing programing training courses for self-taught without a degree in CS/programing related filed are just using this to cash in with a thread like this one.

Your problem is that you think this is year 2000.

So you think those self-taught courses doesn't include basic knowledge to learn whatever programming language with ease?

And as a Nigerian, I understand that your continued use of the word "connection" is due to the nepotism most Nigerians are wired with.

People get frontend and backend jobs, even most remotely, from reputable companies home and abroad.

Yes, some had to network their way into those circles that makes securing a job smoother, while others like OP simply applied and showcased their skills and expertise.

It has nothing to do with connection. This is a skill and expertise-based industry. Prove you can do the work and you get the job. Nobody needs to know anybody.

Also, while there are shit online courses, there are far more valuable courses, short and long courses even provided virtually (free and paid) by reputable universities worldwide!

It's the digital age...and in a country like Nigeria where the quality of education is currently sinking, there's no better time to be self-taught!

I studied CS as an undergrad in a Govt uni, and I can tell you free - it was shit.

I also imagine it's still shit because the Nigerian education system barely gets updated.

We were taught only FORTRAN, C++, and Java throughout my 4 years of study. And the way those courses were administered were pure shit.

Is that CS degree you're touting that everyone should get?

If I could rewind time, I'd choose to be self-taught, 6 months of deep learning of one currently useful and highly-demanded programming language, seek intern roles, and go all in.

That's how to win today. None of that CS degree BS.

Note: I'm not saying don't get a degree. I'm saying if you can't, don't let that stop you from aiming for the top as coder in the tech industry.

Good luck!

Go and take a degree in computer science and you'll be more enlightened. Truth is that if you are not connected as a self-taught person you will not be able to find a programming job.
Those providing programing trainning courses for self-taught without a degree in CS/programing related filed are just using this to cash in with a thread like this one.

Una like to talk rubbish too much for internet.

There are millions of people worldwide working in tech after been self-taught...many don't even have a Uni degree, others studied dead courses like Water management resources for B.Sc and are now making hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly in tech...

But here you are shouting Computer science degree.

You, did you study CS? Many universities are now even planning to no longer offer CS as a whole course, breaking it down into smaller units like web development, etc so it can be more useful and applicable for students!

Stop yapping BS to discourage others, pls.

Coursera, Udemy, and the likes are growing massively. Google, Microsoft no longer require B.Sc as prerequisite to get a job in their multinational companies...but my guy on Nairaland thinks everyone's needs a CS degree. Dumbo!
