Lies... IKEDC announced increase in prepaid meter prices towards the end of last year... From 58/63k to 87k that my dad bought and was delivered January 2024. So what's the increase to 81k BS that's in this post? Single phase is 87k in Lagos right now.. Maybe they should increase to 500k! |
Seun, why did your moderators send this post to the FP? So you can enjoy more divisive retorts? Continue! |
Imagine after 1 year of mandatory NYSC service... Then you're mandated to work another 2 years under terrible pay and working conditions... before you can push to pursue better work opportunities elsewhere! Will every nurses leave Nigeria? Is there a shortage of nurses in the country? If there's a shortage, have we tackled why nurses are fleeing the country? Imagine something as important as healthcare, they pay the professionals trash...because they get to send themselves overseas for proper health care. It's what they've done to the education system too. Pay peanuts to teachers, send their own wards abroad for the best education. Most of their kids love abroad enjoying the prosperity of their host nations. The ones that live in Nigeria lives like kings and queens with police escorts, and they get all the jobs in CBN, NNPC, and the likes! Continue, until poor Nigerians can't take it anymore. That's when you'll see the father of all uprising and protest. APC did more damage in 8 years than all the ills we accuse PDP of doing in 16 years... Buhari sent this country to the gulag, and may Allah punish him for that! |
I don't understand APC... Shouldn't government spending be in the open? Why should Nigerians not know how their monies are been spent? The committee will be addressing an important issue, minimum wage increase. So what's bad in knowing how much the committee cost? |
What's happening? Nigeria needs to overhaul her health industry. Many Nigerians, up to the age of 60 plus have never had regular medical checks. Even average and rich people. Nobody cares because the facilities aren't even available or easily accessible, and are also costly. Ordinary malaria test is expensive for many. How do they do regular and timely medical checks then? People are walking with terminal illnesses unknown to them... This is why I avoid violence. Imagine pushing someone that's close to cardiac arrest and they fall and perish on the same spot... you'll nearly be lynched by the mob before the police arrives. Chai! |
guysbewise:Self-taught developers who are rigid - like those you described, will be out without job fast. Tech is growing fast, what works yesterday may not work or will be upgraded the next day. If you can't unlearn and relearn, then you have no job being in the tech development industry. And maybe back in the days, a CS degree used to make that much sense in job security - it doesn't make much sense right now. See what OP said he learned in 2 years, I can bet my balls - 95% CS undergrads and grads in this Nigeria can't boast of the same knowledge and expertise. It's what it is...I get your point though. |
guysbewise:Your problem is that you think this is year 2000. So you think those self-taught courses doesn't include basic knowledge to learn whatever programming language with ease? And as a Nigerian, I understand that your continued use of the word "connection" is due to the nepotism most Nigerians are wired with. People get frontend and backend jobs, even most remotely, from reputable companies home and abroad. Yes, some had to network their way into those circles that makes securing a job smoother, while others like OP simply applied and showcased their skills and expertise. It has nothing to do with connection. This is a skill and expertise-based industry. Prove you can do the work and you get the job. Nobody needs to know anybody. Also, while there are shit online courses, there are far more valuable courses, short and long courses even provided virtually (free and paid) by reputable universities worldwide! It's the digital age...and in a country like Nigeria where the quality of education is currently sinking, there's no better time to be self-taught! I studied CS as an undergrad in a Govt uni, and I can tell you free - it was shit. I also imagine it's still shit because the Nigerian education system barely gets updated. We were taught only FORTRAN, C++, and Java throughout my 4 years of study. And the way those courses were administered were pure shit. Is that CS degree you're touting that everyone should get? If I could rewind time, I'd choose to be self-taught, 6 months of deep learning of one currently useful and highly-demanded programming language, seek intern roles, and go all in. That's how to win today. None of that CS degree BS. Note: I'm not saying don't get a degree. I'm saying if you can't, don't let that stop you from aiming for the top as coder in the tech industry. Good luck! |
guysbewise:Una like to talk rubbish too much for internet. There are millions of people worldwide working in tech after been self-taught...many don't even have a Uni degree, others studied dead courses like Water management resources for B.Sc and are now making hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly in tech... But here you are shouting Computer science degree. You, did you study CS? Many universities are now even planning to no longer offer CS as a whole course, breaking it down into smaller units like web development, etc so it can be more useful and applicable for students! Stop yapping BS to discourage others, pls. Coursera, Udemy, and the likes are growing massively. Google, Microsoft no longer require B.Sc as prerequisite to get a job in their multinational companies...but my guy on Nairaland thinks everyone's needs a CS degree. Dumbo! |
Inspiring! Congratulations ![]() |

Attract whatever you like... The common man just want to live and survive. So please when you say ATTRACT, it should improve the value of naira, reduce inflation, increase employment rate, reduce insecurity, improve infrastructure, improve healthcare and education, and more. Anything less than that, you will have failed - just like your predecessor, Chief Failure Buhari. |
Great... More electric power supply for the people down South! In fact, the whole North can destroy all their power lines to free up for electricity for Southerners. |
No... We Nigerians don't trust Uzoho. |
Profmarley:What did illiteracy do to your mum? |
Almost 70% of revenue to service debt... No be failure be this? Why's APC still a political party in Nigeria? These devilish people should've been banished from the face of earth. What country do we want to leave for our kids if you people destroy everything today? Ehn! God save us oh! |
APC no fit disappoint or shock me again... They're useless. Rig themselves to power and do Bleep-all until another voting cycle. Madness, this is the government Seun of Nairaland supported. How do you feel now? |
Hehe... Funny thing is her folks are rich...she's a rich kid lol And this is a huge cash flow biz... wholesaler oh lol Nigerians...the people mocking her from their iTel 47,000 naira phone and 600 naira 1.5GB data. Funny lots! |
What your cousins will say...what this that will say... At your big age, ma? What people will say is what's spurring you to take unreasonable actions? I'm ashamed on your behalf. And for your inconsiderate dad, now's the time to act tough too - since it's your money you're spending. Follow one advice I saw on the first page, buy a land and build 3-bed bungalow in your dad's choice of state/area. That's better, you keep the documents too... So no need to be paying yearly rent. |
To answer your question, I'll use this popular Nigerian phrase, "Na God" Because if not God, how are we truly surviving? I have a family of 4 (1 toddler included). We cook proper soup twice a week (3-5k each when managing funds) Our first child does heavy snacking and her most preferred food is Golden Morn, Coco Pops, or Oat and milk. Our toddler is still on baby formula milk. I consume alcohol too (no shame, sorry not sorry - at least 2 bottles of beer daily) We buy half bag of rice every 2-3 months, and then split the rest of my food budget on spaghetti, noodles, Garri, semo, Amala, groundnut oil, palm oil, etc. All of this on which income? My woman earns less than 30k/month as a primary school teacher. I freelance (earn in $$$s)...but income is nearly always inconsistent. In the past 8 months, things have become tougher. No thanks to the rise of Artificial Intelligence (that's stolen most clients) and harsh APC Naija economy. All income now goes to feeding and paying regular bills like TV, internet, cooking gas, power supply, water, cleaning, etc. We can barely afford new clothes or replace our old/damaged gadgets. It's time to leave this country! |
In 2024, the capital of Nigeria lacks equipments to tackle insecurity? If Abuja lacks, what's the faith of the rest of Nigeria then? What did Buhari do for 8 years? Shame, APC - shame! |
FreeStuffsNG:TBH, most of those funds aren't illicit - because these apps do due diligence and also implement CBN's KYC policy (I know because I use many of them). Also, the funds don't go to those illegal money laundering havens like Bahamas, etc... the funds doesn't leave the country where it was sent. E.G. When you register on these apps, they open US, UK, EUR bank accounts in your name (partnering with some banks in those countries). So when someone sends you money, they just move the funds from one account to theirs in the same bank - and then pay you in Naira in Nigeria. So whether this act violates CBN's policies, I don't know. But this apps are important for many Nigerians...and it's not just to receive funds, when you want to pay in foreign currencies too, they open virtual debit cards in your name for you to use, and they handle maintenance, and all. So they're important in Nigeria's economy because money still flows through them. |
Jagaban... Playing ping pong with Nigerians. Lol. Emilokan General! |
Skiibii? Eazi? You must be on cracks! |
Enjoying the comments lol. Make una press that OP neck well well. Nonsense and ingredients lol. Disappeared for 7 years plus 9 months of pregnancy...now suddenly wants to sue lmao. Dem suppose flog you better koboko. Olofo. |
To put that into perspective... Just ONE senator, one oh - will get 1 car worth 160 million naira ! Yeye! |
PoliteActivist:500k is something? Who be this one? Same 500k with cook and driver? Add that to other bills and all...so what will be your savings in 1 year? Na Ekitie village u won dey live? Hehe! Be like na fiction be this, can't believe someone who hustled a Canada visa will want to stay back for 500k ($500) job! Liar! Lol |
You'll stay back in Nigeria because of 500 USD? What's wrong with you? Tech oh, tech that could pay you $3,000-10,000 pee month remotely - just because you're based in Canada! Omo! |
How much did they pay you, Seun? Do giveaway! |
Kudos to their creativity... But every invention/innovation should makes lives easier & cheaper... Petrol is set to soar higher...far more expensive than other alternative cooking processes. Plus petrol is highly inflammable which questions the safety of their invention if used in a large or commercial scale. They should set their eyes on solving problems, not adding more! |
Shameless! Liars! |
Leave. But before you do, ensure you have enough saved up funds enough to last you 6 months plus. And for the blogs and FB group, they're great potential to make you as much as 300k/month if you can do the work... But pending the time you can do that, maybe seek other job opportunities as well - or try other physical small businesses you can start (like business center - web building, photocopy, printing, exam registrations, motor registration, POS, etc) while you work on your blogs. You can even dabble into international freelancing with your web development and consulting experience. Don't wait until they sack you themselves - it happened to me! Good luck! |
