Since you mentioned UK, the British Council is a good place to start. Usually about this time (May) , Chevening Scholarship forms are available in their offices (Lagos, Abuja, Kano). Scholarships from UK institutions themselves are very limited, if any. You certainly can't put your hope on that option. I have desperately searched for, so I know what I'm saying |
oayombo:Why not simply apply to work in Nigeria, where you have no fear for work permit ( I'm assuming you have Nigerian nationality) What bothers me is that the site requires you at a certaion stage to take an online test ( max: 20 minutes). With the kind of cybercafes I see around (so unreliable ; power outages, slow servers etc), that's already putting applicant in a disadvantage femi4: |
I received an invitation via e-mail on Friday for a test in Lagos. Danielfak:Prepare with GMAT but don'e rely wholly on it. Have an open intellectually prepared mind. I always tell people that apt tests are prepared for in a life time, not overnight. |
That's a good incentive by the Scottish. No wonder I had some friends going over there to study. Was wondering what they were up to? |
Starting May 1, 2007, the UK Government will kick-stat the IGS (International Graduate Scheme) which allows non-EEA citizens which have a UK degree (BSC, MSC, PGD, Certificates etc) in any discipline to work for 12 months after they finish their programme , in order to gain work experience. If any one is in the UK in this forum and has a good understanding of this, I'd love to know the intricasies behind this scheme. How good are one's chances of partaking if u apply after your studies?. Everyone wants a taste of the sugar; so do I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 |
I need information on this myself. Best to just go to the office; the website (www.ptdf.com) is insufficient in information |
I beg to queue for CCNA dumps : whiztutors@yahoo.com |
Mine is B.Engr (Electronic Engr.)., Graduatd 2005 from UNN. Curretly serving in Kaduna. Chydon,Where were you posted for NYSC? |
A tentative date is set at September 5th 2006. It should be officially ascertained sometime in August. It's not something to worry about. Information for prospective corps members: www.nyscbida.5u.com/prospective-corps.htm |
Dolly-Pee Are these scholarships of yours for postgraduate studies? Are they for academic purpose within or outside Nigeria |
No, the Batch B 2005 ends mid-august , to give way for the Batch "B" 2006, which is rumoured to start September 5. |
Has anybody partaken in this test before, and can provide information as to the nature of the test questions?; as well as the actual benefits of passing the test excellently. Is it worthwhile? |
For those of you that are prospective corps members, you might want to read this while you ponder on all the experinces people have shared here: Information for Prospective corps members: www.nyscbida.5u.com/prospective-corps.htm The site also offers a lot of info. on Bida in case you are posted there. |
NYSC, this topic has come up over and over again. In order for the NYSC to be really relevant and useful to the corps; I suggest corps should be posted to establishments in which they can utilise their educational training/qualification to make changes and impact on lives wherever they may be posted. It's not enough to just throw graduates anywhere, anyplace just because the one-year program must take place. This kind of review on the programme can make it more relevant in today's Nigeria. |
Distance can only work for two people who are committed by marriage, " for better; or for worse". Any other way gives room for loopholes!! |
I was once contemplating the Phillipines; cheaper relative to US or UK, and better graduate schools in comparison with those in Nigeria. Any degree outside Nigeria would be given a consideration , especially if it is thought that your field of study is of higher sytandard whereever you studied it (especially the sciences). Just make sure the standard of the school is high; many Nigerian school products would not be a good competition for you. Nevertheless, if your main aim is to go to a "recognised " school, then considering UK,Canada, or the US isn't a bad idea. But like i said , if the Phillipino standard will make you stand out, it's worth the risk!!!!! |
The problems which may crop up with respect to these standard tests are innumerable. They are not as effeicient as they seem on their bulletins; but I suppose it's the price you have to pay when doing such things online. So many new challenges, and inherent techical problems. |
I think I get the summary of how to take care of self. It is really summarised by the one golden rule: " Find out what your body reacts to; and avoid it completely. With discipline you'll get used to it" I remember whenever I'm out with my guys; and they are always stunned that I reject cold drinks. I don't need to explain. Simply, I just do not want to, that's my reply to any question. Does anybody use the drug; DEXACORTIN (made in Ghana)? When I started using it ; it was like magic. I didn't have an attack for about a year and a half. I also developed very fat cheeks during the time. I stopped using it after this relief as the drug's documentation ordered. But now, I get attacks a little more often; albeit mild attacks, nothing outrageous. The most annoying thought of asthma is that you have to depend on some kind of medication lifelong. It's scary!!! But you need to see me when I'm relieved; I the greatest soccer player amongst my friends. What irony?! |
Some diseases get a lot of attention and subsequently people are aware of how to cater for their suffering loved ones. Asthma; I don't know how many people 'really' know what an asthma patient feels like; the reactions to dust, pollens, cold food/drinks, fan , harsh weather, colesterol-containing foods, etc, a host of things can trigger an asthma "attack". People around may be insensitive to these, and may inadvertently make the life of a sufferer worsened. Yet, there is no cure, but numerous suppresants(amyinophyline; ventolin etc) I would like asthma sufferers, or those who care for them to tell me how they cope; drugs they use, and preventive measures; and testimonies if any has been "healed". |
For crying out loud SVS, cooking is for your own good. You aren't only going to cook in this life for your husband. What about yourself? Good dieting and noutritious food is usually gotten by cooking at home. |
Alright, I'm joining the train. Send me an invite SOMEONE please to petragbum@yahoo.com |
The date for Batch 'B' is far from being confirmed. I'm on the look-out; but with this forum , there's no way we'll be missing that kind of information |
davidylan:Yes you're right I registered; got a confirmation, and five days to the exam date, here comes another e-mail telling me my date has been postposend by 36 days , b'cos the Abuja test centre will be closed on my earlier chosen date. This is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The mysterious things that are happening with these exams baffle me? Today I received another confirmation of my GRE on a different (further date) than the one I had earlier received. This isn't what I bargained for? ![]() |
@DAFMAN; I hope I have the right number i.e : ++31 320 239 593. I keep getting a voice mail. Is that what you also experienced? |
I'm sorry to say this but TOUCHE Nigeria in Sheraton Hotel Abuja (who adminster the GRE &TOEFL CBT) are such a dissapointment . I can't believe after paying quite some sum for my TOEFL test; I showed up on test day and couldn't test, due to technical problems. The problem persisted for two whole days. Now I have to call PROMETRIC in the Netherlands to complain and reschedule ( because TOUCHE Nigeria can't do that), and I can't seem to get a clear connection; it's always attenuated and noisy signals. Can you believe this frustration. All what you have to do to go to Grad. school?? ![]() |
