Educational Services / Re: GRE And TOEFL Examinations by Rare(m): 8:02pm On Jun 03, 2006
Does a high score in TOEFL in any way aid in getting grants/scholarships; like you can hope with a high score in the GRE?
Education / Re: What Should You Know About Getting A Visa To Study In The Usa (masters)? by Rare(m): 7:17pm On May 31, 2006
Thanks guys. I'll keep all this in mind.

About the previous travel experience? Does it help in my case that I was in the UK for three and a half years during my primary school education in early '90's?

Education / What Should You Know About Getting A Visa To Study In The Usa (masters)? by Rare(m): 12:52pm On May 30, 2006
Often I hear people say " I was denied a visa"; even when they seemingly have fulfilled all requirements to acquire one.

What are the things we should know, or have; or do in advance ahead of preparing for graduate studies in the USA?
Educational Services / Re: GRE And TOEFL Examinations by Rare(m): 12:42pm On May 30, 2006
I'm taking my GRE in about two weeks. The quantitative section; I'm almost an expert. The essays, my dexterity is improving seriously; but the VERBAL section is a nightmare , especially the antonyms and analogies. HELP

Sports / Re: Fa Cup Final: Upton Park Or Anfield? by Rare(m): 5:36pm On May 18, 2006
Glad to see some Liverpool fans at last.

I'm a die-hard fan; since 1990 (John Barnes, Ian Rush days, ). My friends , here, think I'm crazy.

But , admit it, Liverpool win in style!!!   What is it with Liverpool and 3-3 draws in finals ? ( first at Istanbul; then at Cardiff; then on both occasions goalkeeping heroics!!!!)

I really do see this Anfield renaissance as the only possible threat (if any)]] to Chelsea's third consecutive Premiership crown .

It's really nice to hear everything I hear on this topic . Thanks all of you!!!!

With regards to the Chevening scholarship at British Council, it seems Work Experience is a major factor. Am I right??
Computers / Re: Technology Services by Rare(m): 11:39am On May 12, 2006
It seems i am a little behind. I'm just starting training in lieu of the CCNA .

My goodness, Bolaji, how did you manage to get all that certification? Were you trained for them; or you practiced on your own?? , and I must add the "dough" that has gone into taking all those certification tests

@Kimba; you give me even more hope!!!. Does it mean nobody discriminates against you for not having these certifications?

Let's ride on,
flyKUDE:

All of this sounds interesting to me.i'm studying for a ccna.but i have lots of interest in security, what do you suggest.and for that virtual pc simulation??

FlyKUDE, are you in any of the training institutes in Abuja?
Business / Re: Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Rare(m): 11:19am On May 12, 2006
@LEILATA; if you judge the book on its use of literary techniques, then I could do even better.

However the organisation, and build-up climaxes and its content is rich in useful information.

I think this is why the book gets gratuitous accolades!!!
Education / Re: Any Scholarship Or Grant Winners Here? by Rare(m): 11:14am On May 12, 2006
Did you apply for it? Which scholarship foundation was that?
Were you expecting to win it?
Was the entire process transparent?
Would it have jeopardized your chances of the MBA, if you hadn't won it?

Lastly, how did you feel?

How do you feel now after the accomplishment.
Is it paying off?

Too many questions,
Sports / Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by Rare(m): 11:10am On May 12, 2006
I am glad alot of people still appreciate Okocha and his contributions. To think that I have friends , here, who always condemn him for our World Cup dissappoinments!!!

Man!!! Bolaji you're certainly giving me a lot of hop and encouragement.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Need to Do My Indrustrial Training (Computer Engineering) by Rare(m): 11:47am On May 09, 2006
Like OBUA mentioned, please go in it foer the experience. I know you don't like the sound of that, but in the long run, you will see why that reason is the best option.

If you just want the experinec, a lot of IT firms ou there can give you a job for a meagre allowance.

If you are in Abuja try Linkserve Ltd, Wuse II; or a few IT firms all on Adetokunbo Ademola crescent

Literature / Short, Witty Quotes! by Rare(m): 1:18pm On May 08, 2006
I was wondering in which forum to make this request. I hope i get lucky here.

I'm making a collection of quotes, spanning all kinds of topics and from any source. It could be moral , philosophical, comical,, , but generally thought-provoking.

I'll start with two I really like. Then you guys can fill up this whole place:

1. "To be loved is to be fortunate,
to be hated is to have acheived distinction"

2. "Creativity is a way of improving unexisting ways of doing things"

Alright boys and girls. Let's start:

I'm praying so hard that fortune smiles on me with a scholarship for graduate schools overseas.
Is there anybody here who has ever won such a thing, or indeed any lottery?

I just want to know how 'real' all this is; first hand
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Any Genuine Liverpool Fc Fans In This Forum? by Rare(m): 12:35pm On May 08, 2006
DAMEST 09. Tell them!!!

Many people think I'm weird. But Liverpool is a club on the rise. Ask Man Utd, who were on their toes for second place.

I can never forget looking at the faces of some of our haters on that fateful night at Istanbul. To imagine that I had the gutes to bet, abd win , of course

The only other club that may probably finish above Liverpool next season , is CHELSEA.
Career / Re: It Certifications Or Degree - Which Way To Go? by Rare(m): 12:29pm On May 08, 2006
Yes the argument is heating up!!!!!

I have a degree in Electronics, but now I'm more determined than ever to go for CCNA training in lieu of the standard test itself. But some of the training costs here in Abuja are alarming!!!!! 100,000 naira upwards if you really want to go to NIIT or APTECH

Someone mentioned CISCO's academy in lagos/abuja to get a VALID skill.

Please, where is this academy in Abuja?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Any Genuine Liverpool Fc Fans In This Forum? by Rare(m): 7:18pm On May 06, 2006
I've been a Liverpool supporter since 1990; probably the last season when Liverpool were the team of the "moment" before we lost steam. I have fond memories of John Barnes, Ian Rush, Bruce Grobelaar, etc.

I need some more Liverpool fans to talk with, because "You will never walk alone"; not with players like LUIS GARCIA, and the indefatigable, Steven Gerrard.

I'm waiting!!!!!!! I know we are not much out there; but we are stauch!!!!
Business / Re: God Is There, Even In Business, School, Cybercafe Names - Why by Rare(m): 9:16pm On May 05, 2006
Poverty brings you closer to God. That's why you don't see a lot of such titles in the First World. When you do, it's for real!!!!

Also religious fanaticism in Nigeria doesn't help matters.

"Men don't do evil so wholly and perfectly, as when done under the context of religion"
Business / Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Rare(m): 9:13pm On May 05, 2006
Title of a book written by American-Japanese billionaire. Is everything in that book really practical from a Nigerian point of view.

I need your opinion if you've read the book (original or pirated copy)
If you haven't read it. What are doing in this business forum??
