When I saw the "it's now up for grabs"caption on Arsenal website,I thought the club itself was up for grabs,my mind went straight to a certain Usmanov and even one of 'em Abu Dhabi groups

Wow the transfer window is now officially closed after a flurry of last minute key signings; some quite unexpected like in the case of Robinho moving to Man City.

The other key signings to me were;

Berbatov from Spurs to Man U

Quaresma from Porto to Inter

For Arsenal,we signed three new players;namely Arsene,Wenger and Arsene Wenger

Arsenal set to seal £8m transfer: Should Wenger reconsider?

WEST HAM have reportedly lined up Arsenal defender Johan Djourou as a replacement for Anton Ferdinand.

Although the 21-year-old Swiss international has earmarked this season as his breakthrough at the Emirates, he has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United. And the Hammers - who sold 23-year-old Ferdinand to Sunderland this week - are said to be keen to take the centre back on and are willing to use all of the £8million received from the Ferdinand sale.
Djourou spent much of last season on loan at Birmingham and was tipped to go on loan to French outfit Rennes this season to gain first-team football. But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may decide to cash in on the youngster if the price is right. (Waltham Forest Guardian)

Personally I think that Arsene should keep the Swiss international as I feel he has a great deal of potential and if given a run in the starting 11 could surely prove to Wenger that he is good enough to remain at the Emirates. Under-fire Hammers boss Curbishley will look to Djourou to ably replace Anton and if they get their man then they will have replaced the Rio’s brother with a better centre-back who will be out to prove that he has what it takes to play at the highest level.

We are now approaching the final days of the transfer window, and Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has said he will buy an experienced midfielder - and that he will leave it to the last minute.

The only remaining option is Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso, and he is looking like the only really talented midfield player on the market.

That let the cat out of the bag, and Wenger himself has admitted it will come down to the last minute of the window to make a deal. He said: “Last year it was at midnight - and we are ready to stay up all night this time if it is needed. We have still a long time to go.”

“For a while they all talk the talk and nothing happens, then in the last four or five days every half-an-hour there is a headline saying someone has signed somewhere.

“When you have experience of transfer dealings, you know that as long as something is not signed you know it can change very quickly so you can look very silly, so you don’t want to come out and announce it.”

Those of you who think that Arsenal wouldn’t buy a player who was cup-tied for the Champions League, also only need to listen to Wenger’s view on the subject. “Once somebody cannot play for you in Europe, it devalues the player for the season. It doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t buy him,” he said.

My belief, from this evidence, is that Wenger will get Alonso, at maybe a slightly reduced price from the £16million demanded by Liverpool, probably around £15million, and it will go through at the last minute.
