Of course the poor okada-man or bus driver or market woman on the streets would never understand the reasons behind their current sufferings. As far as the people in this societal/educational class are concerned, they started feeling pain as soon as Buhari came to power and things have only gotten worse so therefore it has to be Buhari. But then, I doubt that most of the people also shouting Buhari's name on this forum fall within that social/educational class.

PoliticsNBA President Strikes Back, Urges The EFCC To Apologise To All Lawyers by Raziii(op): 10:26am On Aug 30, 2016
Newly-elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mr. Abubakar Mahmoud has taken exception to comments credited to the EFCC accusing him of trying to protect people being prosecuted for corruption cases.

The NBA chairman speaking on popular morning show, sunrise daily on channels TV said, 'after 12 years of its establishment, everyone has the right to scrutinise the activities of the EFCC'. He further said Nigerians have the right to debate on the structures of any public institutions and when they do, it does not mean they are supporting criminality.

Mr. Mahmoud urge the EFCC to apologise to all lawyers and Nigerians as such words should not be coming from a public institution.

The EFCC had over the weekend blasted the NBA chairman for suggesting that the prosecuting powers of the Commission be limited. The EFCC In a strongly worded statement by its Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, described the suggestion which Mahmoud made at his inauguration on Friday, as self-serving and meant to protect a cabal of untouchables who can only be investigated but never prosecuted for corruption.

PoliticsPresident Ready To Swap Boko Haram Prisoners For Chibok Girls by Raziii(op): 9:16pm On Aug 28, 2016
Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari today in Nairobi disclosed that the federal government is willing to dialogue with the leaders of Boko Haram for the swift release of the Chibok girls.

The President said he is willing to swap Boko Haram prisoners for the Chibok girls.

But that is on condition that they are able to list those they want released and then come out to discuss with the Federal Government.

Full text of the President’s statement:

Nigeria Ready To Take All Necessary Measures To Free Chibok Girls – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated the preparedness of the Federal Government to discuss the release of the Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram terror group since 2014.

In an interview with journalists in Nairobi, Kenya at the weekend, President Buhari said the Nigerian government is ready to dialogue with bonafide leaders of the terror group who know the whereabouts of the girls.

“I have made a couple of comments on the Chibok girls and it seems to me that much of it has been politicised.

“What we said is that the government which I preside over is prepared to talk to bonafide leaders of Boko Haram.

“If they do not want to talk to us directly, let them pick an internationally recognised Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), convince them that they are holding the girls and that they want Nigeria to release a number of Boko Haram leaders in detention, which they are supposed to know.

“If they do it through the ‘modified leadership’ of Boko Haram and they talk with an internationally recognised NGO, then Nigeria will be prepared to discuss for their release,” he said.

President Buhari, who spoke to the media on the margins of the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), warned that the Federal Government will not waste time and resources with “doubtful sources” claiming to know the whereabouts of the girls.

“We want those girls out and safe. The faster we can recover them and hand them over to their parents, the better for us.”

The President maintained that the terror group, which pledged allegiance to ISIS, has been largely decimated by the gallant Nigerian military with the support of immediate neighbours from Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Benin.

“Some of the information about the division in Boko Haram is already in the press and I have read in the papers about the conflict in their leadership.

“The person known in Nigeria as their leader, we understand was edged out and the Nigerian members of Boko Haram started turning themselves to the Nigerian military.

“We learnt that in an air strike by the Nigeria Air Force he was wounded. Indeed, their top hierarchy and lower cadre have a problem and we know this because when we came into power, they were holding 14 out of the 774 local governments in Nigeria. But now they are not holding any territory and they have split to small groups attacking soft targets.

On the militancy in the Niger Delta region, the President said the Federal Government is also open to dialogue to resolve all contending issues in the area.

“We do not believe that they (the militants) have announced ceasefire. We are trying to understand them more. Who are their leaders and which areas do they operate and other relevant issues,” he said.

PoliticsRe: Linking The Pres'dent 2 The 'dog' Incident Is Just A Display Of Ignorance- Shehu by Raziii(op): 8:27am On Aug 26, 2016
All I can see in this scenario is an overzealous police force... the president couldn't have called for the arrest of that man.

For the record, legally speaking, it's not a crime to give one's dog a human name but morally speaking, maybe there is a question mark.

Finally if someone naming his dog a human name is causing rancour, I guess we really need to grow up and catch up with the rest of the world cos we are way behind.
PoliticsLinking The Pres'dent 2 The 'dog' Incident Is Just A Display Of Ignorance- Shehu by Raziii(op): 7:51am On Aug 26, 2016
The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu has taken to twitter to clear the air on the news making the rounds that the president ordered the arrest of Mr. Joe Fortemose Chinakwe who named his dog Buhari.

In a series of tweets, Mr. Garba Shehu disclosed that the president love cartoons and the ones he enjoys the most are those that caricature him, therefore the people linking the President to the dog incident are just displaying their ignorance...

Mr. Joe Fortemose Chinakwe was arrested last week after his neighbour reported him to the police for naming his dog Buhari. He has since gained his freedom.

See Tweets below;

I am thinking of saying, using my own handle that people linking the President to this dog incident are just displaying their ignorance...
— Garba Shehu (@GarShehu) August 25, 2016

He enjoys cartoons and likes sharing them. The ones he enjoys the most are those that caricature him.
— Garba Shehu (@GarShehu) August 25, 2016

It is cheap and sensational to say he can order a police action against a caricature.
— Garba Shehu (@GarShehu) August 25, 2016

When he picks a paper, the first page he reaches for is the cartoon page. He laughs and laughs.
— Garba Shehu (@GarShehu) August 25, 2016

The President must be having a good laugh over this whole thing.
— Garba Shehu (@GarShehu) August 25, 2016

People should listen to the real story behind this dog incident...
— Garba Shehu (@GarShehu) August 25, 2016

...and to not waste precious time seeking the hand of the President in a laughable incident!

PoliticsWhat We Learned Last Week ( 8- 14 August 2016) by Raziii(op): 7:22am On Aug 17, 2016
From the Olympics to Jubrin/Dogara debacle down to the International Youth Day celebrations, the week ended with the news of the video released by the dreaded Boko Haram sects, It was quite an eventful but mostly sad week on the polity. FocusNaijaa run down the major talking points and what we learned from them.

It's Official! Buhari's Corruption Fight Is Selective

A 'misunderstanding' between Jubrin and Dogara led to the formal coming out with mind boggling revelation reminiscent of the treat we got during the #Dasukigate and it was since Ben seen from so many quarters as a acid test to determine whether the Buhari led anti- corruption fight is just and sincere.

But from what we are seeing, the government failed that test woefully. This was after the Presidency came out on Tuesday to say emphatically that the budget it signed into law is not padded.

Why would the Presidency take such a stand without allowing the agencies under its control finish it's investigation.

Just like he case of the Chief of Staff and the minister for defence went, it's looking like the APC are trying to shield It's party members involved in the budget padding from the law. After the party claimed none of its member is corrupt, The EFCC is suddenly going after Jubrin for a crime committed in 2012, thus confirming the fear that the fight against corruption is only geared towards some 'perceived enemies".

The Presidency must know that act like this will make people start asking whether there is a fight against corruption to begin with.

Nigeria Sports Is Dead And Buried

For some reason best known to him, The president urged Team Nigeria to being back 10 gold medals from the Olympics. And that gave us hope, maybe there is something theteam have been doing that the president is privileged to know that we don't.

But after the showing of the team so far, not even the president can deny the fact that our sports is dead.

The sight of our athletes being dumped out of their various events is just too sad evenmore so by the fact that we all know we can do better with adequate preparation and funding.

For a government that rod to power on the change mantra, the APC should cover it's face in shame because right they are are not just doing the same thing, they are perfecting the act.

This Olympic will go down as our worst outing judging by our preparation on out off the field and more of the blame will fall on the table of the sports minister Solomon Dalung who is putting up. Show of pure incompetence.

Nigeria Military Has No Intelligence Department

On Sunday 14th of August, Boko Haram released a video showing the Chibok girls with one of them pleading with the government to release the detained fighters of the dreaded sect so they too can regain their freedom.

It's more that two years since the girls where taken from their sleep but still we are nowhere close to finding them.

And since then we've been hearing of series of arrest being made the the military, how come not one has given a clue as to the whereabouts of the girls. It's either the arrested boko haram members are staunch devotees or the department responsible for information gathering ain't doing enough. And judging from the precedent of the military, the later is obviously the case.

One thing is certain, if the government doesn't agree to the negotiations of the sect, it's only through a sound intelligence gathering that can guarantee the release of the innocent girls and it's high time the government does something about that because whatever the military claims to have right now is not working.

This Government Does Not Tolerate Criticism And That Is Bad For Democracy

Outrage was was greeted the cyberspace on Monday August the 8th when news filtered in that a popular political blogger Mr. Abubakar Sidiqu Usan was arrested in his home by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) purportedly over a recent critical report he published against the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

The actions of the commission has dealt a major blow on the rule of law and democracy and should be condemned by all but since the Presidency kept quiet on the issue, one can conclude that it is in support of the action taken by the EFCC and that is bad for democracy.

That has added to an already growing trend to show this government is not comfortable with criticism which makes one begin to wonder what we are in for when the next election draws nearer.

We (Youth) Already Have The Power , We Just Don't Know How To Use It

Last week Saturday was the International Youth Day celebrations and just like always, the Nigerian youth wailed. Why they are true, just like I said in my article to mark that day, we the youth have a realise that we just need to come together as a force and we can decide who governs us and who shouldn't. Which other power beats that?

SportsReview Of Olympic Women's 200m Semi Final- Okagbare Crashes Out Again by Raziii(op):
Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers’ bid to scale the top of the podium and emulate her legendary countrywoman Fanny Blankers-Koen as an Olympic women’s 200m winner looks a distinct possibility following Tuesday’s semi-fInals.

The reigning world champion headed the qualifiers with a superlative demonstration of sprinting, recording 21.96 t post the second fastest time in the world this year to lay down a clear statement of intent.

Schippers lined up in a loaded first semi-final containing three of the first five women home in the final at last year’s IAAF World Championship Beijing 2015.

European champion Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain ran the quickest bend, out in lane seven, and held a clear advantage leading into the home straight but on her inside Schippers, in lane three, and the Rio 2016 100m champion Elaine Thompson in lane four quickly came to the fore.

With 70 metres remaining, the tall Dutch athlete assumed control and maintained her lead to power clear and win by 0.17 from Thompson, the 2015 world championships silver medallist, who set a season’s best.

USA’s Deajah Stevens finished impressively to take third in 22.38 with the fading Asher-Smith having to settle for fourth in 22.49. Both were rewarded with a place in the final on time while Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria, the 2013 world championships 200m bronze medallist, was eliminated after finishing fifth in 22.69.

In the second semi-final, Marie-Josee Ta Lou continued her impressive Games by trimming 0.03 from her PB set in the earlier first round to win in 22.28.

The Ivorian, who placed fourth in the 100m here in Rio, finished 0.14 clear of Ivet-Lalova Collio, who secured the second automatic place. It was a great achievement by the 32-year-old Bulgarian, who last qualified for an Olympic 200m final 12 years ago at the 2004 Olympics.

Semoy Hackett of Trinidad and Tobago, running blind in the outside lane, was prominent around the bend but entering the home straight the diminutive Ta Lou came to the fore. As Lalova-Collio then emerged with a strong run over the final 50 metres to finish a clear second.

Australia’s Ella Nelson finished with a noteworthy dash to trim 0.03 from her lifetime best to clinch third in 22.50 with USA’s Jenna Prandini a further 0.05 back in fourth. However, neither make the cut for the final on time.

The third and last semi-final followed form as USA’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games 100m silver medallist Tori Bowie took the victory from Michelle-Lee Ahye.

Bowie ran 22.13 to lay down a marker that she is capable of adding a second medal here in Brazil.

Ahye also produced an outstanding piece of sprinting to take second in 22.25 and cut 0.08 from her Trinidad and Tobago national record.

Simone Facey of Jamaica finished at an eye-catching rate of knots to take third in 22.57 but this was not enough to elevate her to the final. The early race leader Murielle Ahoure faded in the latter stages and could not join her compatriot Ta Lou in the final, posting a time of 22.59 in fourth place.

Nigeria minister for youth and sports, Solomon Dalung has assured Nigerians that preparations for Tokyo 2020 Olympic game has already started.

The minister who is currently enemy No. 1 in the sporting sphere said he has asked president of the various federations to submit their plans for the 2020 games.

He also expressed his concern about the poor performance of Team Nigeria at the ongoing Olympic games in Rio, Brazil and attributed it to the poor handling of preparation prior to when he got into office.

He said, " I am concerned about our performance across all the federations, which explained how poor we have done in the past 3 years before I came in as a minister. I am barely 9 months in office and preparations for 4 years event couldn't have been made in such a space of time

Christianity EtcA Call To The Christian Faithful And A Warning To The Bigots By Femi Fani-Koyode by Raziii(op):
Christians commit more wicked crimes than terrorists….they commit crimes against humanity. – Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, Benin City, August 15, 2016.

It is welcome news that Mr. Anjem Choudary, Britain’s “most hated man” and the radical British Islamist who pledged an oath of allegiance to the leader of ISIS, Amir Abubakar Al Baghdadi, has been jailed in the United Kingdom.

This was a man who encouraged islamic fundamentalism and terror and who has spent many years on the international television networks trying to justify the actions of Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, Boko Haram, the Taliban, Al Shabab, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Daesh, Abu Sayyaf and all the other evil muslim terror groups in the world that believe in the establishment of a new world caliphate where sharia law is imposed on everyone.

If the truth be told there are many Anjem Choudarys in Nigeria: as a matter of fact many of those that think like him now run the affairs of our country and that is our major challenge.

The fact that Nigerian Christians have been so accommodating, tolerant, and restrained in the face of what has been going on in the last one year is a glaring testimony to their maturity and decency.

It is not a sign of weakness but rather evidence of true strength.

I say this because it takes courage not to retaliate when you are consistently marginalised, insulted, cheated, pillaged, raped, murdered, singled out for destruction, and treated like filth.

Yet, it is not just about being restrained even in the face of the worst type of provocation.

The children of the Lord, the believers and the faithful still have so much more to do in order to protect ourselves from the relentless onslaught of the Islamists in our country like Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen and from the excesses of a federal government that is hell bent on turning Christians into an endangered species and second class citizens.

Anyone that doubts that this is the case would do well to read the seminal and well-researched contribution made by the elder-statesman Chief Solomon Asemota SAN a few days ago which was titled, Discriminatory Appointments Against Non-Muslims In Nigeria.

Though much of the Nigerian print media, out of fear of the authorities, have refused to publish it, the essay is all over the Internet and it can be accessed there.

Today, more than at any other time in our history, Christians must be united in our country.

Anything less than that would lead to our collective defeat and destruction and it would feed into the narrative of those who wish to Islamise our nation.

It is for this reason that I am a little concerned by what appears to be happening in the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

It is very important that the Christian community in Nigeria keeps a united front and supports the new leadership of CAN.

No matter what our differences may be, the attempt to discredit and destroy CAN by threats of breaking off from it by any group is counter-productive and dangerous to our collective cause.

When the Muslim fundamentalists and Fulani herdsmen kill our brothers and sisters, when the federal and core northern state governments discriminate against us and persecute members of our faith, when the Sultan of Sokoto says that Christians indulge in more wicked acts than any other group in the world and when you have a religiously partial man as your president who says that sharia law should be spread into every state of the federation, you do not split your ranks and give room to your collective enemies.

This brings me to another point. Other than yours truly no-one has made the point that the Chibok girls are virtually all Christians.

First of all Boko Haram abducted, raped, killed, enslaved and Islamised them and now our Muslim-controlled and Muslim-led military are carpet-bombing them from the sky and murdering them.

I watched the video on CNN today and I wept-especially after I watched the interview of the mother of the young girl that spoke from captivity. Those are CHRISTIAN girls and just look at what they are being subjected to.

Regardless of their faith, whether they be Christian or Muslim, no child should be subjected to such atrocities but the truth is that the fact that virtually all the communities and towns that Boko Haram managed to torment, capture, or hoist their evil black flag over the years were predominantly Christian communities like Mubi, Biu, Chibok, Dikwa, Bama, Gwoza, Banki, and Potiskum.

This is a point that is relevant but that is purposely underplayed and ignored by the Nigerian and international media for obvious reasons.

President Jonathan may not have been able to rescue the Chibok girls but at least his army and air force did not carpet-bomb them. At least he did not order that they should be aeriel-bombed to death and slaughtered if they can’t be rescued.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that if those girls had come from a Muslim community and not a Christian one like Chibok, the government, and more likely than not Boko Haram itself, would have been more restrained and they would not have bombed and killed them in the way that they are doing.

Yet the Bible says “vengeance belongs to the Lord”. It says that He “will repay”. I have little doubt that in the fullness of time He will repay the powers that be for what they are doing to the Body of Christ and to our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Meanwhile, I sincerely hope that the northern Christians will not break ranks with the rest of us and that we maintain our unity.

I sincerely hope that the Judas’ in our ranks and all those that are being used as agents of division and destruction by the government in return for a fee think twice and retrace their steps.

That is the only way that we can win in what has become, to all intents and purposes, a religious cold war in Nigeria. It is a spiritual war. It is a war of attrition and it is a fight for the very soul and future of our nation.

It is a war that will be long and subtle and in which there will be many casualties: yet it is a war that must be fought and must be won. Everything depends on it.

Permit me to end this contribution with the following. When a few misguided individuals from the south, who are obviously suffering from what is commonly referred to as “Stockholm’s disease”, clap for men like the so-called elder-statesman Alhaji Lawal Kaita when he says “the north will not allow the restructuring or break- up of Nigeria” and that “those that are calling for either of the two are calling for a second civil war” it amuses me.

In their slavish attempt to fawn over their captors and to please the “master race” they forget that Mr. Ken Saro-Wiwa and Mr. Isaac Adaka Boro, two great and patriotic sons of the Niger Delta who swam against the tide of the people of the old Eastern region at the time of the civil war, who fought against the quest for self-determination by the Igbo people and who, together with the rest of Nigeria, resisted the quest for the establishment of the sovereign state of Biafra, were both executed by northern heads of state who presided over the affairs of a united Nigeria at the time.

The first was General Yakubu Gowon and the second was General Sani Abacha. The same set of northerner leaders conspired with others and jailed Chief Obafemi Awolowo and President Olusegun Obasanjo on false and trumped-up charges simply because they resisted their hidden agenda and exposed their excesses.

This ought to be food for thought for every Southerner and Middle Belter worth his salt, especially those who make a habit of sitting at the feet of our collective oppressors and worshipping them.

We must learn from history and we must not repeat its mistakes. If, God forbid, there is another civil war in this country people like Kaita and those that he represents will be confronted with a very different adversary when compared to the one that they faced before and they will rue the day that they ever threatened or sought to impose their will on the rest of us.

If, God-forbid, it were to ever happen again, this time around, the South, the northern minorities, and the Middle Belt would be united in their resolve and the core Muslim North would be driven into the desert and into the waiting arms of the Republic of Niger and Chad.

Someone should make this point to the Lawal Kaitas of this world and all the other arch-conservatives and hegemonists who are still living in an inglorious past. The word today is that either we restructure Nigeria or we break her. Simple as that.

This is a battle between a child of perdition and a child of promise. It is a struggle between the sons of Kings and the sons of slaves. It is a struggle between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. We cannot run from it and we cannot shun it.

We must stand up and fight it with all that we have got. We must secure our liberation and we must ensure that our children and our childrens’ children have something to look forward to and something to live for.

To the faithful I have only the following left to say: the battle belongs to the Lord and our victory is assured.

SportsUsain Bolt Beats Gatlin Again, Wins 100 Meter Gold by Raziii(op):
Usain Bolt on sunday night continued his dominance on the track, winning the 100 metre dash in a time of 9.81. He was followed by Gatlin (9.89) and Canada's Andre De Grasse (9.91).

The Jamaican caught Justin Gatlin, who did have a strong start and led for half the race, to win his record third straight men's 100-meter final Sunday night and seventh Olympic gold. This is the third time Gatlin has finished second to Bolt. The previous two times were at the 2013 and 2015 world championships.

The Jamaican after the race said, "It was brilliant, I didn't go so fast but I'm so happy I won. I told you guys I was going to do it."

Surprisingly Bolt, whose reaction time of 0.155 was second slowest of the eight finalists, had the time to gave himself a fist bump on the chest just before crossing the line.

The 6-foot-5 sprinter/celebrity overcame his typically slow unfurling from the blocks -- he was second-to-last after the break.
"I just said, 'Take your time, and chip away,''' he said.

Churning his legs to gradually build up speed, he eventually caught Gatlin with about 40 meters left and took it to warp speed. The rest was a matter of how hard he wanted to run to the line.

In other high profile race decided, South African Van Niekerk produces an absolutely astonishing run to wrestle the Olympic title away from Kirani James, who comes second. Beating Michael Johnson's 17-year-old world record on the way.

He looked to have set out far too quickly but, incredibly, got faster around the top bend and then sustained that top speed down the final stretch.
The 2008 Olympic champion, LaShawn Merritt, gets the bronze.

PoliticsInternational Youth Day- Nigeria Democracy And The Role Of The Youth by Raziii(op): 5:41pm On Aug 12, 2016
Democracy have been defined in numerous ways, but the most recognised is the definition of Abraham Lincoln who simply put it, 'Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people. This classical definition simply means everything and everyone related to government should revolve round the people.

Nigeria is relatively an infant when it comes to democracy, enjoying just 16years of uninterrupted democratic rule. But there are already questions being asked about it.

On the surface, you might be tempted to say it's not the best because we seem to have gone from bad to worse and right now the fate of I've nation hangs on the balance. Looking at the situation critically though, you will realise the system isn't the problem but the players.

And in the midst of all these, the youths have been left out of the equation all together unlike the the pre- independence where the likes of Sir Tafawa Balewa, Sir Amadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Herbert Macauley all in their youthful days were in the forefront fighting tooth and nail to deliver the political independence we all enjoy today as a nation.

The question is, what went wrong? Was it a deliberate act by the older generation to sideline the youth or that the youth are not just interested in governance anymore? I think the later is. Talking to a Nigerian youth, you would feel the frustration and disappointment and also a lack of desire.

But it is time for us to wake up and not just dreaming of taking over power. The Nigerian youth has got to realise that, we have a huge role to play in this democracy of ours right now. We cannot keep believing that to make a difference we have to be in power. We can influence the decisions that affect us right now from where we are.

Have you thought about it, Nigeria have more concentration of youth, when we collectively decide to do the right things, we can and should be able to decide and influence decisions that affect our future. We can influence the outcomes of elections. But how come we keep getting having the wrong people in leadership positions? It's because we have been neglecting our major role in governance.

Today, we are berating the National Assembly, but come to think of it, how did the men/women in both chambers get there. Sadly, a lot of them won by landslides. 90% of them has no business being in the National Assembly. The same goes for the states and the executive.

Everything is so wrong and it is because we the youth with our huge voting population are not playing our role the right way.

We need to start cleansing our minds. We need to raise the bar so our Politicians won't win us again with sentiments like, I had no shoes as a young boy or I am now a born again. If we are the intelligent bunch that we say we are and rightly so, then let our votes begin to show it also.

Let's begin to resist anyone who want ls to play smart with our minds, let's begin to demand results. Let's begin to hold those in leadership positions accountable. Let's begin to show the political parties that they don't own the country but we do, the ordinary citizens, and we will vote vote out any under forming party or person.

For me, our major role is making sure the right people gets into power irrespective of the age. If we can get that right, we would have successfully taken our place in the forefront of nation building once again just like our forefathers did in the 50s and 60s.

Happy International Youth Day.

PoliticsRe: Youths/occupy/nigeria/2016 by Raziii(m):
laudable initiative and I wanna be part of it. The revolution should start from our mind. from the way the select our leaders. why do we vote for a certain person and what do we expect from him/her? have you thought about it, Nigeria has got more concentration of youth, so we should be able to decide the outcomes of elections, how come we keep getting it wrong. Today we are berating the National assembly but come to think of it, how did the people in the house get there. ironically, a lot of them won by landslides. how come? looking at the past records of those guys, 90% has got no business being in the national assembly. we can't plant weed and expect to harvest maize! Same in our states and the federal executive. everything is just so wrong. and it's that way because we got it wrong at the elections. we need to raise the bar so people won't win us over with sentiments like I had no shoes or I am now a born again or Mr integrity. if we are the intelligent bunch then let our votes begin to show it also. let's begin to resist anyone who wants to play smart with those votes. let's begin to demand for results. let's begin to hold our leaders accountable. let's begin to show these political parties that they don't own the country but we the ordinary citizens do. and we can vote any under forming leader out at any time we want. for me the real battleground is in our minds, expecially as concerned elections. let's begin to demand for structures that work. take for example, we are begging our leaders to be responsible but if we had good electoral structures, that structure would automatically shut them out and if they somehow pass that, it will boot them out in no time. I want to see a Nigeria that works and I am passionate about it. happy there is a thread dedicated to that purpose. I wanna suggest if we can have a whatsapp group. that would be great you know. God bless you all!

Sweetlemon:
Seems like the West, Britain actually is really angry with Buhari. I am yet to figure out exactly why though. Could it be because of Buhari's determination to recover loots from them? Because ever since Buhari announced his visit to the UK to recover looted funds, UK has just been giving Baba bad eye up and down.
America started beefing Buhari after he turned down IMF offer.
If I got the information correctly, the bulk of the funds for the clean-up is not meant to come from FG but from the polluters. FG just flagged off the program last week, definitely perhaps when Buhari is back or when work implementation of the budget really kicks off, FG will source for their own part of the funds. Then again we all know how Buhari likes to take his time while doing sensitive things involving serious cash so why the hullabaloo from Shell? Why the hurry? Something is def wrong somewhere.
Hmmm. Baba God help us o.
you guys need to get off your high horse about the west being the bad guys. When leaders fail, they sell such crap to us. About the president taking his time may be true but the west being the bad guys? STOP IT! It's becoming lame.

The real terrorist are IPOB and Niger Delta Avengers. The fulanis only attack farmers for grazing their cattle while the IPOB and Avengers attacks oil installations which affects the economy and electricity.

when people were asking this govt for its economic blueprint, some people took it as a job to insult and label them pro GEJ supporters. Now they hear 'economic recession', they are trembling. truth is the country is already in a recession. countries that are developed right now didn't get there because they had a righteous leader...NO! they did because the leaders know there is no room for failure. the citizens are very demanding. whether I voted you in or not, whether you met the country in shambles or otherwise, whether you are my kinsman or my enemy, even if I know nil about economic theory, whether I am literate or an illiterate, I have a right to demand the very best and if I am not seeing the result, I have the right to question and criticise you. that's how countries develop. but here, some people will question your education, your tribe, they are so smart, they instantly know who you voted for. and you will think we must have learned something, wait when a new man mounts the top seat, you will find same sequence repeating itself again. Sad!
