She gave birth 2months ago n was moved 2 her Pil's place cos her husby was not around....She said her mil practically turned her into a maid. She's d 1 dat washes her baby's clothes from day 1 till date,she started bathing her baby wen d baby was 9days old (ftm o).She cooked 4d whole house,take care of her lo alone,sweeps evryday if she fails 2 sweep wahala go burst.d worst of it all is dat her mil had ceased her fone n she cannot reach her husby.D husby only reaches her thru her mil's fone, d lie is 'wifey lost her fone' she can't even reach her parents....I don't knw wat 2 tell her or how 2 say it as she was crying bitterly. Pls wat can I advice her? She looked so pale n her baby girl doesn't look ok either.I feel so sorry 4 her...

Hello, house. Pls, if u are a expectant mother, my i advice is you stay away from island maternity. The corruption and inhumanity that is bedivilling the country as a whole is well and alive in that hospital.
Just lost a beautiul baby boy that would have been my godson days ago in that hospital due to deliberate act of negligence on the maternity staffs.
How do you explain the refusal of the personnels to move a labouring mother into labor room, 24 hrs after her water has broken, on the ground that the contraption had not gotten to 10cm or whatever.

I later got to know that its a regular practise for years now for staffs to purposely ignore patients in dire need of emergency attention just so you can part with money.
Unfortunately, we were not aware that such practise exist in such places, if not probably we would have did the needful just to save a new life.

Its sad and pathetic that the faith of innocent children would lie in the hands of callous creatures who call themselves caregivers.

A word is enough for the wise.

I am a banker. I was working in bank X before i joined bank Y. I had wonderful experiences in bank X. I decided to join bank Y so as to have experience there too. But ever since I joined bank Y, it has been disaster working there from the very first day I entered there. The manager has been tormenting me from the very first day he sighted me. I dont know if we have struggled for a babe b4, i just dnt knw. I am a permanent staff but this man treats me like a cleaner. The time for us to be in the office is latest 7.20am but in my first week there, i came to work by 7.17am and this man was shoutn and embarrasing me outside the bank where customers queues up to withdraw from the atm. Dat was my first bitter encounter wit him. I was brought to the branch as Funds Transfer Officer but it took this manager a full month to create me as FTO. On my Third day on the job, He connived with another bad colleague and they pushed me to the atm as ATM Custodian. This I was doing with tears because this man was just making life unbearable for me by threatening me all the time. All the jobs in the branch was given to me to do except FTO jobs. He refused creatn me and even wen i was later created, he still refuse i work as FTO. Theres sometn called cashdrop box, and its meant for contract staff to work there but this man forced me to work there for even upto a month combined with atm custodian and other cash jobs while the other bad colleague walks around pressing fones and chattn. Later in November, the Area Manager visited and said i should be returned as FTO. Ever since then, this manager will pack other peoples job on me and be embarassing me in front of customers when I dnt finish them. Whenever I tried to complain, he will start shoutn and insultn me in front of customers. This has been happening for upto 5months now. I joined this particular bank in late August and by middle of september, 6 staff angrily left the branch because of this manager and his accomplices. By tomoro, another staff is leavn becos of constant quarell wit manager. The branch has been under wicked rule by this manager and the other bad colleague. For the past 5months I have been here, its been hell. I have reduced drastically in size. Even size 30 trousers are very loose on waist now becos of so much thinkn, insults and harrasments from this man.
I have planned to resign at the end of the month becos of the evil torture of this man and the other bad colleague. Please I need matured advices becos i am almost like a walking corpse. Each week i feel sick here. One sickness or the other.
Any day i remember i will go to dat office, my mind will be filled with sadness becos theres no single day this same man will nt harrass me.

Pls mods help me. I need advices and i have made up my mind to leavn here becos each day i see this man and the other bad man, i feel like shooting them to death becos as i speak nw, the other bad man does nothn in the branch. There are reporting lines, why not complain to a superior or better still write the Head office. You cant resign cos of him, he didn't employ you. Or you can go to HR nd report.

Yes it hit me real hard when my lovely Mum finally died in my hands, afta 4days of illness. I'm in soo much pains at d moment. Scared wen lonely, cry every night, memories of her on ending as all my lyf she has bn close to me n dh.

My mum cudnt wait to see my baby n takia of us as we hav both planned.

Pls wat do I need to do to get dis pain off my mind n her memories too?

So sorry about your mum. May her soul rest in peace. Just offer her prayers. Rest and engage yourself with other stuffs. Don't kill the memories you shared together ...it's well.

Just yesterday, he eyeballed me and said he prays when our daughter grows up, she looks like his younger sister and not me. I don't know if i'm overreacting, but that statement hurt me deeply.
Now, I have low self esteem issues. I am afraid to even breathe in his presence for fear of being condemned.
I'm thinking of relocating away from him.

Sorry dear. Don't take it personal. You may ask him to show you how to do it or give you tips on how to do it. I always ask my husband to do the task while I watch. Trust me next time, he won't complain.

You do not need to give your baby any herbs. You know what you went through so you have to stand your ground.

Babies need absolutely no herbs. Don't forget that their organs are very fragile at this stage (and in your case your baby was born few weeks earlier than your EDD). I honestly do not understand why people think it's okay to give a perfectly okay baby herbs and antibiotics to drink

What's the benefit of bathing the babies with herbs? absolutely none! Will it make the babies skin repellent to mosquitos If anything, it can cause harm to a baby's sensitive skin.

If some babies react well to herbs, it doesn't mean there are a billion other babies that won't. Each individual/baby is unique.

Regarding lactation, why not supplement with formula till you get a swing of breastfeeding/your milk flow improves? Why would you allow your baby's sugar level to drop? Is the desire to do EBF more important than your babies health?

It's better to supplement with formula for the first few weeks and have a healthy, happy baby than to struggle with breastfeeding and have a malnourished child.

To help with your milk flow, try and drink lots and lots of pap with milk. It really helps.

For colic (if you are really sure that's what your baby is experiencing and not hunger as some mums confuse the cries of an underfed baby with colic), get the drug called infacol.

Regarding feeding, at this stage, for the first few weeks feeding on demand and then you can work out how often your baby feeds and the intervals in between and then have a routine. However, feeding on demand is still the best as babies are constantly changing as they grow. Today, they want to be fed every hour, two days later, it maybe every 3 hours and there are times they would have a long nap of 4-5 hours and not wake up to feed.

1. The number one problem with trado-drugs is the uncertainty of the kind and amount of active principles in it.
For example...agbo jedi? How many components is it made of? How much of each component is there? How much of it do we need in our body? We dont know! Adults have developed organs and will most likely be able to flush excess or unwanted garbages out. Babies dont, by giving them agbo, you are giving their liver more work to do esp as they are getting all the food amd drugs( very active antibodies) from breastmilk.

(As for me, I am open to bathing with the agbo but not drinking. The mother should drink, a tiny bit will be passed to the child. Thats my opinion o. Also, I just discovered that ogiri oil helps to relieve colic, I used it cos its made from only one ingredient; ogiri, I use it for her like once in 3 days sef).

2. You can create a schedule or feed on demand.
( I feed on demand cos my babies are too active to sit and feed for long...highest is 10 minutes.)

3. It is not abnormal. Your baby is getting all the drugs she needs from her milk. PCM is important cos of the fever that may show face once in a while. Vit C is important if she has a cold.
( I dont use any drugs for colic or teething apart for ibuprofen or pcm for fever. You need to see the look on my SiL's face when she saw our basket devoid of drugs, na she give me the ororo ogiri sef.)

Dear Sabi mama's, please I need tips here. I haven't slept since I gave birth. My incision site is healing and am eating regularly. I breastfeed my baby like every 3hrs or 4 but I will be active all day but will always find it difficult to sleep.

My mum &SIL insisted on using local herbs for this or that on my baby.I said NO. I narrated everything that surrounded the pregnancy & birth of my baby. My husband supported my decision.

Also, Paediatrician discharged my baby without any drugs except paracetamol that I Was asked to give her after immunization and eye drops for her eye.

Here are my questions
1. What is the position of modern medicine on the use of local herbs for baby (drinking and bathing)
2. How often do I need to feed my baby
At the hospital before I discovered I was not lactating, my baby "s sugar level dropped drastically and sshe was placed on I.v
Since then,I have been feedingconstantly
(Please first time mum and others should study their lo"s from the first day)
3. Is it abnormal for my baby not to have drugs like ampliclox,vit c, abidec etc as my people here won't let me rest.

I keep wondering how and what I have done to Almighty Allah to have granted me my little bundle of joy. I will continue to praise HIM.
I am praying to Almighty Allah to answer all trying to conceive person (s) that the joy that fills the heart of the new mothers here, the innocence of the new born and this season bless you with your own wonderful kids by God's grace and it will happen soon, sooner than expected.

It really has been so challenging lactating. But with the help of an electric breastpump...I have been feeding my little one.

I rejoice with everyone on this day 31st of Dec 2015. May our joy never be cut short. May God perfect everything that is yours. May we reap the fruits of our labour.
