Lawsaite: You lost all my respect today. If you are a good father, then you'd know that they are other ways to discipline than constantly using a whip, worse still on someone who has come of a reasonable age. I was a victim and let me tell you, you certainly have no idea what it feels like.
To me if you're constantly whipping your child like an animal, it tells a lot about the upbringing you gave the child. I know and have seen responsible parents, with stellar children. Exactly what I wanted to say. There are so many ways to discipline that beating. Imagine the father told him when he got home and wants to eat to go back to where is he's coming from to eat. Won't that send the simple message to him of not coming late again?? @Righteousness89 u'v lost so many people's respect already. |

Even if she knew b4 marriage (with pre marital sex like u claimed) is it not d same treatment given to both single and married people that are impotent/barren

@ DanTheGeek, SegFault, stanliwise and others
I know i can't really have a say about difficulty (I only focus on game programming) BT this (below) is the formula used to implement just one features or rather a sub feature of a game engine. To calculate an aspect of lightning in games.
Even I that have solved (and still solving) ODEs, PDEs and Integral equations do not understand the formula.

SegFault: Of course I am not really into it, remember some guy named brackeys on YouTube was teaching linear algebra (this is what vectors, quarternion and all fall under), I even started learning linear algebra because of 3d graphics and all that. It's just that I forgot a lot of things, it's been a year since I last laid my hands on unity and I've literally forgotten everything about it. No qualms bro. I didn't even need to learn vectors from brackeys, I'm Already in maths dept in school |

@ op Talk24
I don't even know where to start.
OK first Maths is not the same as statistics.
Secondly, calculus is not really required except u are working on complex algorithm like sub surface scattering, directional occlusion probe e.t.c basically Calculus is for game engine makers and I have never had any reason to use it.
Also matrices is only required in shaders (well its somehow part of game dev) but they are node based shader solutions now. So upcoming game devs might not to learn matrices.
Also when replying to SegFault, endless runner like subway surf, temple run does not need procedural terrain generation just re-render what's behind in front again and it keeps looping.
I think u are an upcoming game dev. Keep it up (I'm also upcoming bt with good experience)
@ SegFault seems you're not really into game dev for you to say Vector calculations are not really needed In depth . maybe u just use unity ones a while or u just have it on ur computer thinking u know unity.
Have u mess around with Vector4 and Quaternion?? Do you know what gimbal lock does?? So many Vector questions I can ask you which I doubt u can answer.
One need in depth knowledge of vectors, geometry and trigonometry to be a good game developer in fact
60% of maths in game dev is Vector calculations d remaining goes to trigonometry and geometry.
In summary game development (along with graphics programming) is arguably the most difficult aspect of programming

Elxandre: You don't talk like a programmer. So much assumptions about an anonymous character online.
It requires large investment and I've been mostly disappointed with the quality/theme of games by Nigerian developers. They often target Nigerian market which isn't even big nor rich enough to yield anything reasonable.
I remember how they made a game to try cash in on Oga at the top. Lol. My advice : Next time always b mindful of how u talk online because u don't know d person's personality. D advise goes to me too though cause I don't know if I'm chatting with one multimillionaire businessman so sorry if u're offended anyway |

Elxandre: Web development pays in Nigeria? I can't remember intentionally visiting any Nigerian sites recently except from Twitter and nairaland links. Not to mention the fact that almost all of them die out soon.
I think a big problem is Nigerian games being too Nigerian. You start playing and Nigeria is plastered all over the games. Just make a game fgs. See how this one is talking How many non Nigerian games have u bought from d play/app store?? Even if u had, is it ur one in 5yrs purchase that d developers will live on? Well i won't argue with u because 1. U don't have a business that requires attending to a very large audience. 2. U are not a game developer. But still let me tell one thing, don't u think people have invested in game development in Nigeria ?? Do ur research and find out why d abandoned it. My final verdict : web Development is d most lucrative aspect of programming in Nigeria. |

obataokenwa: Everyone is quick to condemn someones weakness. That girl is a fighter and also hard-working. She's part of the whole fun and drama in the show and it will be unfair to condemn all her contribution cos of a weakness of hers.
I doubt if she would not have won that show. That girl got a brighter destiny ahead of her. She need a good manager and spiritual father to excel more. None among them all will go far than her.
She has alot to offer...let her work on her emotions and she will be fine.
Erica go and make sure u excel. Don't let this be a setback...see it as one of the crossroads. I don't watch like d show or anything but @ the bolded, u are very dumb to have said that. DriggityDre: Don't give up yet, man. Open-World games are still relevant with untapped potential.
You just gotta be creative af. @ Cassim33 Don't mind him (d quote above). Focus on web development instead. Or else u'll be competing against big companies (that spend millions of dollars on making games) which I'm very sure u cannot keepup. If u're hell bent on making games, make simple hyper causal games and monitize it with ads. Read my previous 2 post on the thread with d quote attached Its simple logic. Everyone is willing to pay for what makes him money in return (i.e people are willing to pay for an e-commere web app because they'll make money from it) but not everyone is willing to pay for entertainment not to mention that entertainment is different for people. Some prefer movies to games while some prefer physical games and still yet out of d few that plays video games, not all of them are willing to pay for it. |

Talk24: 2. Starting too big Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing about dreaming big. But mehn, Some Nigerians are too ambitious. You can't tell me you just finished learning C#/C++ and now you want to make 3D games like GTA, or Fortnite. These games were developed by huge companies with several professionals on the job, yet it took them several years to bring the game to life. You just finished learning C#? I know you have a lot of dreams but please cut your dream in half and please get your game finished. When you are done, you game might not be up to Appstore's standards but not to worry, you can publish it to popular websites made for indie game Devs like itch.io. If you need ideas for games you can head over to itch.io and join a game jam. Start small and grow big. Don't start with unity game engine, start with smaller game engines like Godot Game Engine, which honestly despite small size (about 30MB), The engine is still able to create better looking 2D/2.5D games than Unity and Unreal . You can also tryout other less powerful engines like Game maker and Construct. These engines will help shape you and tell you what you are up against. Don't start by trying to make something as labour intensive as a game engine. @ the bolded I'm sure u are a Godot fan boy BT DAT is not true unity's 2D pipeline has been updated to almost as much as the 3d pipeline. Don't get me wrong I Also use Godot And I would have agreed with you if u said u can create 2D games more easily in Godot than in unity and unreal My advise :don't be a game engine fanboy who knows u it might b from other engines u'll make more money |

Collinsanele: Another and the main reason many people shy away from game dev is because it is freaking difficult. Coding alone is difficult let alone adding maths and physics to it.
Finally, in terms of lucrativeness, web development on average is more profitable than game dev in Nigeria and most countries worldwide. Boss u really nailed it about web being most lucrative. I'm a game dev so i'm not speculating. Sometimes I wished I had started with web development BT its not too late sha |

1. Some studied hard and wrote professional exams both local and international.
2. Some took illegal risks to travel abroad and became lucky.
3. Some picked up military forms and joined despite the risk involed.
4. Some were very frugal with their spending, living below their means , learnt a trade for years and invested in it.
5. Others went to school for almost a decade , thier mates got married, bought cars while they toiled till their light started shinning.
6. Some others used their connections to the maximum and got their dream job or business. They weren't after women , alcohol or frivolous acts.
I am sure we all know some of these people either directly or indirectly. U forgot to add : Some were born into rich families |
