The thing is ac issues are fixable in Nigeria . But most won't last.

Some mechanics are real clowns and they've ruined lot's of good vehicles,
*From changing ac compressor of a 2010 accord to knocking the engine,
*Frying the Ecu(brainbox) of a 2013 Maxima by putting the batery terminals in the wrong way
*From plug change to smoky engine
*Putting diesel in petrol engine
*Converting 2008 passat to 5s-fe

Let's talk about AC

Once a car's ac system has been worked on by our technicians i don't even think it will ever function properly again..
Unlike the old Fixed Displacement Compressor, the Variable Displacement Compressor (VDC) automatically varies its pumping capacity to meet air-conditioning demands. When the car’s cabin temperature is high, it increases its refrigeration capacity until the desired temperature is reached. Once the desired temperature is reached it automatically reduces its capacity to maintain the desired temperature.
With a VDC(auto compressor) there is no jerking of the engine brought about by the switching on and off of the compressor clutch as in FDC(manual compressor). In fact, some VDCs have no clutch at all. This results to a very smooth operation and improvement in fuel consumption.

Most recent cars come with climate control system but once they get faulty our techies can't seem to diagnose it and fix it properly , i don't know if they are scared of it, Their only solution is to recommend the manual compressor.
Recent Cars in Nigeria have been kazeemized and they have manual compressor installed.
Most of the technicians overcharge or undercharge the system or even use wrong refrigerant in charging it.

Effects of Changing to a manual compressor:
*More load on your engine
*High fuel consumption
*Rough idling
*Increased rate on engine wear.


My 2003 pilot has been to so many ac technicians since 2014 till date but between 3months the ac is back to the same issue, It won't get cold in hot weather, i now start to feel the car is cursed, Changed Compressor's condensers e.t.c. A techie worked on it recently let's see how it goes
I don't really drive the car much anymore.

Venza also takes like 20-30 seconds to start blowing cool air in the hot weather, but it cools well it just takes time, tho the ac system was recently checked and it's working perfectly now and am looking at how it goes ,

I've seen lot's of Benz with Peugeot compressor lol
Honda,KIA,Toyota e.t.c using all sorts of compressor and they end up rough idling and shaking like a grinding machine.lol

Many people buy car's with money but they don't even care to understand how it works, Thinking the mechanic will do all the work, don't be surprised if you know more than the mechanic.

Toyota has a good past of reliability, and that's what is keeping them up for now,
They've had there own issues too
