Hi guys, please I need urgent advice. This morning my honda accrod 2006 i4 refused to start when gear is in Park. No crank, nothing though all the lights on the dashboard illuminate normally. When I shift the gear to Neutral the car starts normally and I was able to drive to work. I tried again when at work, same thing. Car won't start in Park behaves as if gear is in D. When I change to Neutral, it starts normally. I have never experienced this and will appreciate any idea on what can be the problem. For context, car was parked for 2 weeks while I travelled. It was working normally before I left. I also used it yesterday and I checked all fluids, started the car, warm it up for about 15 mins, wash, drove to work and drove home after work, car started in Park and behaved normally all through . Problem started this morning. |
megaafeez:Alaye are you in Kwara? He lost in all 4 LGs. If you like continue arguing. |
It is obvious most Nairalanders don't read or have comprehension problem. Otedola wrote a petition to DSS after Lawan demanded for $3m bribe. In order to get hard evidence against Lawan, DSS worked with Otedola, installed cameras in his living room, gave him $500k to offer Lawan and Lawan fell for the trick. They did the right thing in order to catch Lawan in the act. This is one of the popular modus operandi of several law enforcement agencies like FBI, working with an informant or planting a mole is not new. Otedola or DSS did notihng wrong here. |
khalhokage:1. All things being equal, an iPhone will outlive any premium android device of the same year based on regular use. You can find several examples around you from people who use both phones. 2. Security in my OP referred to DEVICE SECURITY, (login passcode, fingerprint, virus and malware protection) and not cloud security. Also the iCloud incident you're referring to is a targeted phishing attack, someone stole the celebrity iCloud usernames and passwords by tricking them to reply to a phishing email with their details. Not that they actually hacked into iCloud. I think they introduced 2-factor authentication after that. 3. I am not referring to 3rd party Apps on App Store, Apps here refer to Apple's own default apps on iPhone (calendar, maps and others). Google monitor your usage of their apps and things you do with them. They use these information to tailor adverts to you. Apple does not. |
NuclearReactor:I mentioned some android manufacturers provides similar build quality using Samsung and google as an example. Where Apple edge them is in the durability. On average, an iPhone has a longer lifespan than most android premium phone released in the same year. |
Hey guys, I have read and seen the constant bashing of Apple's iPhone and the regular comparison with Android and I found that to be quite unfair to Apple. Yes the actual cost of manufacturing the device is cheap compare to Apple's prices but you are not paying for just the device, you are paying for so much more. I'll try to list some of the things you get on iPhone that people are unaware of or actually take for granted when comparing prices; 1. Quality of material/finishing: iPhones are mostly premium product and are manufactured using material of higher quality than most devices out there. Only real premium devices such as Samsung premium Galaxy and Note series, Google Pixel, and others in that class uses similar material. These other devices are only priced a little bit cheaper than iPhone even though none of them can match the durability of an iPhone. 2. Support: iPhone 5s was released in 2013 (6 years ago) and guess what? it was still supported by the latest iOS (https://www.apple.com/ng/ios/ios-12/). How many other phone manufacturer still supports a product they released 6 years ago? How many of them still release updates and security patch for 6 year old product? Samsung is still not sure whether to release Android Pie update for Galaxy S7 just about 3 years after its release and Google's latest flagship (Pixel 3) will only be supported for 3 years (till 2021) while iPhone XS will probably still be receiving supports in 2025. It cost money to continue to support a device, so when you buy a iPhone, you are paying for the extra years of supports along the device. 3. Security: This is a no brainer, even FBI knows Apple's security is unbreakable (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI%E2%80%93Apple_encryption_dispute). Have you ever heard of a iPhone virus, malware or ransomware? Or you think hackers have not been trying to create some? A lot of work and research goes into iOS security, the cost of this security is also included in the price. 4. Data Protection: Apple is the only the device you can misplace and still have a full rest of mind that your data is protected. Arguably no one will be able to use the device (if they are lucky) without wiping off your data and you can wipe off your data remotely on your own if you wish. Again you pay extra for the rest of mind that your personal information cannot get into the wrong hands no matter what. 5. No Ads in Apps or data sharing: Unlike Google and most companies with free Apps and services, (I see you Facebook), Apple do not sell your data or show you ads on any of its apps. The reason you don't have to pay for these apps with your personal information is because the costs has been incorporated into the price of the phone. A lot of stuff goes into making Apple what it is today. The company can produce cheaper phones with same standard but it will have to compromise on some of the things above to break even. I admire the fact that they still stuck to the model of charging for every basic things upfront and at point of purchase even in the face of stern competition. Most of their customers in US and western countries know this and hardly complain about the price. The only recent complain is the fact that the company seems not to be as innovative as it use to be. Of course you can like android more than iOS, but instead of constantly bashing Apple for their price, understand why the device costs that much. Disclaimer: I am not a Apple representative, I am just a regular guy who owns both an iPhone and an Android phone. These are also my observations albeit as a professional who work in the mobile industry. |
Fuckmytoto:Are you a dev? Do you know Andela? Its funny how you think a company who arguably currently has the highest number of Senior Devs in Nigeria can't afford one. |
Sharming95:Lol, alaye stop arguing, I'm a barcelona fan and I'm sure I have been following football while you're still running around in ordinary pants. Messi was laliga top scorer in 2012 even though madrid won the league, he was also copa del rey and champions league top scorer, though chelsea eliminated barca in semis. How can you say someone who scored 91 goals in a year did not deserve the best player award?, and barca won the copa del rey and not atletico. If you are going to advice someone to use google, you should at least know how to use it yourself.
|
Sharming95:Lol, Messi was not the top scorer in a season he scored 50 goals in la liga? a year he scored 91 goals in a calendar year? Baba go and sit down. ![]() |
Wrangler, the first I think is 1995/1996 while the second should be early 2000. Not too sure about the years, others might know better. Also, no idea on the cost, you can find out on auctionexport. |
Lol, I was almost a victim of this last Saturday, I drive a 2006 accord, I was driving to a friend's wedding when I started hearing the squeaking sound on steering turn, thought it was power steering oil issue considering I just fixed a power steering hose leak a week earlier. Parked and checked the power steering oil level, it was fine, no sign of leak anywhere, call my mech who asked me to bring the car the next day. I drove to the wedding and back home like that (mainland to Ajah and back!), the squeaking was louder and the car was wobbling when I speed. When I took it to my mech the next day the guy just told me its ball joint immediately he heard the sound. When it was removed, it has almost pulled out completely. Mech said I should consider myself lucky. It was the first time I'll experience ball joint issue, I have used this car for 8 months and its my first, hence reason I didn't figure the noise is ball joint, I would have turned back and park it considering I am not too far from my house when the noise started. So yes, it always gives signs and if you are not careless (I was and was just lucky) you would never experience the leg pulling. |
Argentina Again!!!! |
GAZZUZZ:My Oga I cannot stop o, my fiancee is living there and man has to visit once in a while, except if you have another okpeke you want to dash me .Thanks for your quick response boss. I'll probably disturb you on phone by Monday. |
Hi everyone, Please I need urgent advice, I drive a 2006 Honda accord (bought as Nigerian use in April this year). I changed the front left (driver side) shaft in early June and few weeks later, I started hearing some noise from that end while driving on the new Ikorodu road (at speed of around 80km/ph). I took it to my mech immediately I got home and after investigating, we discovered the hub is damaged. There is nothing wrong with the hub before the shaft change and it was not giving any noticeable sign prior to this. I changed the complete hub on the advice of my mech. Less than a month later (sometimes in July), I started to notice the driver side tire shakes when I accelerate, took it to mech again, we jacked it up and noticed the tire is shaking, investigated further and the hub is damaged again, I was furious because we bought a tokunbo at 13k on the advice of this guy (I'll like to add here that this is my first car, I have only used it for 5 months and hence, just getting to know and understand things about cars in depth). This time he suggested we install a new hub ring instead of buying the entire hub. We did this at a cost of 8k plus workmanship. Yesterday I went to pick my fiancee from her Ikorodu home and again, I start to notice the vibrations again when I speed. Went to mech again, alas, the hub ring is damaged, again! after arguing back and forth. My mech just `discovered` the shaft I changed in June has a smaller head (the side that was suppose to fit into the hub ring, the green part in the sample image below) and does not fit perfectly into the hub, causing it to move and vibrate inside the hub ring and hence damaging it. I'll need the advice of the experts in the house if this is possible as I don't trust the words of my mech again, do Honda accord shaft differ (his excuse is that the one fitted initially might be for a 04/05 accord) and can this really continuously break the hub ring? I am also open to advice and suggestions from the experts and anyone who has experienced something similar. My mech is suggesting we change the shaft as well as reinstall a new hub ring.

Oga OP, I am not understanding. Michael Umanyika wey die for Azerbaijan na Kevin Hart clone? Or wetin dat pic dey find for your post? . |
Its not their fault, we have ruined our reputation in that country beyond repair. |
How on earth will some people want their wives to spend the rest of her life eating, sleeping and bearing children? Na fowl? Even fowls they hustle for food. Marriage should not be the end pf a woman's life goals. Anyway I rest my case, the feminists are coming for your head OP. |
@Op, do women wear boxers? Your topic does not reflect the content of your post. |
dulaman:Although I know you're trying to help by sharing this information, but its better you get your facts right first and not to mislead people. Andela is NOT owned by Mark Zukerberg NEITHER is the Andela program facebook developer program. The chan-zuckerberg foundation is just one of about 8 major investors in Andela (which also includes Google) and is even the newest to invest. There is a lot of information about the program on the site www.andela.com and the andela thread here https://www.nairaland.com/1805275/andela-it-training-job you can use instead of misleading the public. Interested persons can check the thread and read through, they'll understand the program better. Kudos for sharing but try to get your facts right next time. |
Cooldude68:I never said vb.net ain't powerful, and if you study my responses quite well you'll noticed it was basically tailored for someone just learning programming, you gave an impression you are new to programming in your OP, hence my advices. As an experienced programmer I can't advice you to stop using vb.net if you feel it is the right tool for the task at hand, but for an aspiring programmer, due to the benefits of massive community support, volume of open source projects, tutorials, mentors and entry level job opportunities, I give the initial advice I wrote above. |
Cooldude68:Nothing basically, but for a new/aspiring programmer to be learning vb.net is the same thing as Nigerian universities lecturers teaching fortran to computer science students in 2016. vb.net is beyond its glory days. The world has moved on to better and more dynamic languages. Popularity of vb.net is 2016 is just around 1%. You can make your own research. I'll advice you learn either of python, ruby or javascript (nodejs). And if you are a fan of .Net (which I assume) learn c#. I'll give a similar advice to someone trying to learn iOS development, learn Swift, not Objective-C. |
FrankLampard:I'll love to see a benchmark test on how you arrive at this conclusion, Faster than Python's flask and Django? Faster than Ruby's rails? Faster than NodeJs? Bruh! |
Musty4:Bro have you ever heard of Stackoverflow? If you have a problem with your code, the best way to find a quick solution is to use resources like stackoverflow. While it is nice to have a mentor while learning, you can also make use of some online resources like stackoverflow, codeschool, codeacademy, tutorialspoint and others to improve yourself. And just out of curiosity, why do you decide to learn vb.net? I'll advice you look beyond the Nigerian programming/tech ecosystem if you really want to be world class. I am sure if you do this you won't go with vb.net. |
@op No pics? No description? |
