italo: Dear friends, today October 7th being the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and October being a month for devotion to Mary, I decided to bring you some of the more famous miracles that have been obtained by praying the Rosary.Hello Everybody,so here's my testimony......In my 4th year in school,I joined the Confraternity of Our Lady Queen of all Hearts(mostly based on the teachings of St Louis de Montfort) and we had to say our rosaries daily as members and try to be in a state of grace as much as we can....I had the best result in my entire stay at University in that year.........and also with the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary we are moving into our own house tomorrow.....Glory to Jesus!!Though since I graduated I have not been very faithful in praying my Rosary...God help me. P.s.Italo and Chukwudi44.......you guys should be Cathechists in your parishes.....wish I knew half as much of the Catholic faith as you guys do.....God bless you guys and May our Mother Mary,The Mediatrix of all graces continue to interceed for us,Amen. |

Thanks! My pleasure, will do all of us a lot of good to study, think,be logical and pray so as to make wise decisions.......not what one man has decided for us.God bless us all. |
There are two separate verses in the New Testament that, at first glance, appear to teach against wearing jewelry. The first is 1 Pet 3:3 which reads, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel…” The second and very similar verse is 1 Tim 2:9 that says, “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array…” But are these scriptures forbidding the use of jewelry by Christians? A number of holiness-based Christian groups have come to that conclusion, but doing so fails to consider the numerous other passages in the Bible that actually appear to endorse the use of jewelry. In fact, many places in the Bible show that God uses jewelry as a blessing to his children. One of the first passages in the Bible to deal with jewelry is Gen 24:47, 48 which reads, “And I asked her, and said, whose daughter art thou? And she said, the daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands. And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.” Here we have a rather tender story of Abraham's servant giving jewelry to Rebekah, who was the woman God had specially chosen for Isaac. The servant then bows his head and worships God. If jewelry were sinful, his offering it as a gift to Rebekah, and then subsequently worshipping God, would be irreverent and inappropriate. We find another such example in Gen 41:42, which says, “And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck...” Joseph was one of the greatest men of the Old Testament, and God blessed him greatly because of his faithfulness. In this verse, we find Joseph accepting jewelry as a gift from Pharaoh. If God forbade jewelry, undoubtedly, Joseph would have rejected this gift. David, the man said to be after God’s own heart,1 writes in Ps 25:12, “As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.” David compares gold earrings to the way an obedient ear accepts wise instruction. Surely if jewelry were a sin, David would never have made a comparison between wise behavior and something that is sinful. The prophet Isaiah wrote in Isa 61:10, “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.” Isaiah compares righteousness and salvation to a bride and bridegroom who adorn themselves with jewelry. Would Isaiah compare a sinful activity to the salvation and righteousness of God? God, through Jeremiah, speaks of jewelry in this way: “Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number.” (Jer 2:32) God compares forgetting about him to a maid who forgets her jewelry. Again, if jewelry were sinful, God would never have made such a comparison. In Ezek 16:11-13, God says that he has blessed his children with bracelets, necklaces, earrings, jewels and crowns, “I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.” God would not offer his children something sinful as a gift or reward. Some may argue that God once gave and blessed the use of jewelry, but because of the vanity and disobedience of Israel, he no longer does, which is why it is forbidden in the New Testament. The problem with such an assertion is that it is not taught in the scriptures. In fact, the scriptures contradict such an idea. Luke 15:22 says, “But the father said to his servants, bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand…” This verse is from the parable of the Prodigal Son, given by Jesus. Surely, Jesus would not have used a sinful practice as part of his parable. Considering the overwhelming body of evidence that God not only doesn’t condemn the use of jewelry but has actually given it as a gift to his faithful children, it cannot reasonably be stated that jewelry is a sin. In light of this, let's take another look at the verses used to support the belief that the use of jewelry is forbidden: “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel…” (1 Pet 3:3) “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array…” (1 Tim 2:9) What exactly are Peter and Paul teaching in these verses? They are simply teaching that Christians should be more concerned with beautifying the inward man than beautifying the outward man. They are teaching that as Christians, we should not be overly concerned with outward beauty. Jewelry, like every other good thing from God, can and has been abused by carnal man. It is important not to take one or two passages in isolation and make a doctrine out of them without first considering the entire weight of scriptural teachings. Doing so will inevitably lead to errant teachings and inaccurate assumptions about God’s word. These verses that deal with outward modesty are certainly no exception. A careful and honest evaluation of all relevant scriptures reveals that Paul is not forbidding the use of jewelry; he is merely instructing us to use it in moderation and to place the greater emphasis on inward adorning. filcast: Hi guys,Please, this is my own experience on the stanbic/ibtc pension scheme-My mum was using it while working in Nigeria(warri, precisely)as a nurse, she had cause to move to the UK,unexpectedly and she is still there.Last year,.she decided to process the funds in the pension account recently to fund a project here in Nigeria(I am her next-of-kin) and we have gone to hell and back just to get her money, the customer care assistants are terribly rude and cannot offer any assistance,my mother's former colleagues still using the scheme have identified my mother countless times(this is causing them to have a rethink),my mother has had to get a Notary in the UK to sign every single document before stanbic/ibtc acknowledges it costing us whole lot of money, even her bank here(where her salary account was) has written to stanbic/ibtc,informing them that my mother is the owner of the account from which they have been taking money ,no way o!!from mid last year, till now not a dime has come out o!!!!My dear, before you open any pension scheme account, ask how easy it will be to get the money when need for it arises because anything can happen,my mum is hale and hearty and can do all the running up and down, what if she was a very old woman and couldn't keep up with the endless customer care calls and posting of documents ![]() |
Anyigala: Thank you and welcome back home! What we have in Catholic Church is the fullness of truth and it troubles me when I read some misinformed individuals posting absolutely trash on this forum just to bash Catholic Church.Thank you.....we really need to learn about our faith....I thank God for the loving and understanding priests at my parish......They've explained a lot of stuff to me..... |
Anyigala: Frosbel your hatred for anything Catholic has turned to obsession and you keep digging up all kinds of silly and frankly, weak articles and videos to bash Catholic Church. Every week you will write or dig up one useless article to attack Catholic Church. When you get hammered, you open up another tread. I try as much as possible to ignore your treads but I cannot help it when you deceive so many people that know very little about the topic.God bless you for this,Catholics like you give me hope....so many people who profess the Catholic faith dont even know anything about the Faith.......they were just born into it. I returned to the catholic church after many years as a protestant(my parents left when i was still very young) and that is one of my greatest blessings......That I found my way back home. I have a better and closer relationship with God than I ever did as a protestant,I am still learning though......May Our Lady,Queen of all Hearts continue to point us in the direction of her Son,Our Lord and Saviour,Jesus Christ.Amen. |
ballabriggs: I share Sonala Olumhense's piece with you all. Read and educate yourselves.May God in his infinite mercy continue to bless you and yours for bringing this out...the church of God mission part,I was still very young then but I remember my mum used to quarrel about this with my aunt who was a chorister at Ayo's enerhen rd branch before he moved to ajamimogha, warning my aunt not to take us(me and my brother) to "that church" where they are all planning to kill themselves....Pastor Ayo can only tell these his tales to people who dont know his history...... |
Delafruita: its because of people like this that our country is in this comatose state.how much oyedepo sell one book?how much does it take to publish the book?unless you intend to tell me he overprices his books hence making a killing on them.if authors made that much money, chimamanda should own a jet by now seeing as every secondary school child must reas purple hibiscus.aliko dangote sell cement, rice, flour etc.his business empire spans across the globe but the dude doesn't own 4jets.he owns just 1 which he bought for his 50th birthday.lest I forget, dangote is one of the richest men in the world and oledepo is supposed to be just a preacher.what's the difference?dangote thinks in terms of maximizing profit by lowering expenses while oledepo is sure muguns will continue to pay tithe so he can keep acquiring jets.I won't be suprised if he sets his sights on a submarineplease allow me to add J.K Rowling(Harry Potter series),Sidney Sheldon,Danielle Steele,R.Tolkien(Lord of the Rings trilogy and other books).....so many authors, whose books have been translated into more than 200 languages for decades and you'll find such books in homes and libraries all over the world!!!!Yet the authors dont have private jets!!Carlos Slim has a company that produces and sells jet parts.....he doesn't have 4 private jets!!!!.....please call a spade a spade!! |

CHOBA POLICE STATION is within 10, minutes of the place.. MGBUOBA POLICE STATION is within 30 Minutes of the place as well..Isiokpo police station....10 minutes from omuokri,am sure the policemen at the scene are from the Isiokpo police station......murderers!!!all of them!!!! |
polokor60: you registered with this i.d yesterday and 95% of your post is to defend the savagery committed in aluu community.come out with your true handle dude if truely you are not ashamed of the barbarians of aluu community you are defending.one word for you, stop running around nairaland like a headless chicken(a coward hiding his true identity) defending his fellow savages and barbarians.#justiceforaluu4Polokor,are you not sure it's Otokx?we haven't heard from him since Sunday. |
otokx: which alakahia? why invite CSO of uniport to alakahia? cso of uniport power ends inside campus, if dem catch you for alakahia na your eye you go take see your back, if dem pity you they take you straight to choba police station, guy try talk truth. You don show yourself say you be bad student naim u dey run mouth here anyhow.there you go again?Otokx!!!!alakahia has the best community vigilante in all d communities around uniport and they were the first community to start the vigilante thing, infact in 2010 the vigilante chairman or cso of alakahia was my colleague's landlord and i spent nights there, especially anytime i wanted 2 go to upth very early in the morning..nobody has been bludgeoned to death in alakahia!!!!all the cso's(i mean vigilante chairmen) have the uniport cso's number and when the community changes cso they always introduce the new ones to the Uniport cso even sometimes to the dean of student's affairs....when a student is caught even for lateness(cos in alakahia you cant be out at a certain time at night)after asking you questions they'll warn you, even find your landlord and tell him to caution you....when a student is caught red-handedly for any heinous crime at alakahia, the school cso is always invited even if he cannot come,he'll send his boys...why are you lying Otokx?can uniport ever have enough hostels for it's students?medical hostel couldn't contain doctors when uniport had only medicine...now the school has nursing and dentistry added to the college of medicine so there are loads of medical students there even doctors working at upth...plenty!!!...(for those who don't know uniport, alakahia is the closest community to the University's teaching hospital, where almost all medicine, nursing and dentistry students live due to it's proximity to the teaching hospital)...are you saying that if something happens to a lecturer who couldn't get accommodation on campus at aluu, the school will deny him?Uniport has it's issues but dont lie like this i beg!!!!I personally had a friend who had issues at owhipa..the Uniport cso then came to owhipa....even the dean of student's affairs...far far owhipa!!!don't say what you dont know!!! |
polokor60: mr advocate for jungle justice i asked you a question when you were running your mouth that these young men were the one's terrorizing aluu community, you never gave an answer to that question which was and i quote you again''WHERE THEY CAUGHT IN AN ARM ROBBERY OPERATION??WHERE ARE THE WEAPONS IN THEIR POSSESSION WHEN THEY WERE ROUNDED UP??will they have executed them brutally if these boys were indigenes of aluu community??stop spreading false information about those boys, the indigenes of aluu(majority of the youths are bloody cultists,).listen you may try to paint them as arm robbers which they are not,but deep down you know you are a bloody liar.simply admit that you could not poison minds of nairalanders against these defencelesss young men that were dastardly murdered by blood tasty vampires in human skin.i once live in ph and i know rivers state like the back of my palms and i still have younger ones and friends that are students and staff of uniport.i got those pictures of these young defenceless from a student of uniport(i was the 1st person to post them here on nairaland because i wanted everyone to get the true story of what really transpired.you are very biased in your reports and i want nairalanders to ignore these heartless soul whom might be an indigene of aluu defending his fellow savages and barbarians.Polokor......God bless you for remembering all he said...I thought I was the only one who noticed his comments!!! Otokx, you said am making aluu, choba and ikwerre people look bad....not my intention at all....just to let people know how it is at Uniport generally because you are making it look as if students are guilty of every crime at aluu.....my landlord was an ikwerre man,i taught children of indigenes as a home lesson teacher for years especially at aluu, while in school and after graduating,I have lots of ikwerre friends who have become like family but aluu indigenes didn't do this one right at all!!!!when they have so many bad eggs in their midst.....I repeat no group of students can Rob as far as Omuokri,Omuchiolu...rob indigenes??without an inside connection??.......lie!!!!They passed that forever bad spot where the road disconnects some communities and entered the village to Rob in ikwerreland??my dear...be honest o! |
otokx: @realisticallyI have quoted your own words....hw have i twisted them?it is the same aluu you described i am describing very well here as well,if i go to Uniport now my 1st meal will be from my former security man's wife at aluu,I lived very well there,I mingled with aluu indigenes, their crimes against students are even worse because after robbing they go to their parents houses and they are protected by their community,it used to be that way in choba...way back indigenes will molest students anyhow, and the community will shield them from the police....at a point in choba when the thieves are slicing ur window net you will overhear ur landlord talkin wt d thief in ikwerre language asking the thief about his parents going on as if the thief is a carpenter fixing ur net meanwhile the thief is using a Parker attached to a stick to shovel ur indomie, tin tomatoes,ur handbag,ur phone!!!when students came together(both cultists and all) and attacked the indigenes, they stopped!!!....you were talking as if you knew it all.....apologise to those you insulted on this thread...tomorrow there'll be a peaceful protest at Uniport...try to give correct information...... |
otokx: that one small na, this guys robbed a hotel along the roads 4 times in 6 weeks, the hotel is almost folded up as people no longer go there again.I could continue copying what you said previously,be very sure before you type things like this ...I followed this thread few minutes after it was put up and I watched you talk like you were very sure, you were talking about Aluu when did aluu develop nw?which day here?....Aluu ppl have been robbing students blind since they started building hostels there!!I cited the militants instance because the militants were harassing aluu indigenes before school resumed that semester when there were no students around, the late CSO Amadi was pressurising the state government then to move the militants away before students resumed because they'll blend with the students and cause havoc..the CSO was on this before he died, why didn't aluu community do something that time?when "dey bam" and "dey well" cults reigned in ph ,aluu youths used that one too to harass students mercilessly that time...what did the elders do .......Like someone rightly said you owe people here an apology especially Obadiah....If there was a cult clash at aluu and these kids died in that process you will not see me here....na them use their hand find trouble...but to be killed like this on a "supposed" or alleged premise and you were here calling all the shots as if you were there,as if you have been robbed by these particular boys or as if you actually met someone who was robbed by these boys is very wrong....very wrong...have a heart...have a heart i tell you...no one is perfect.. |
otokx: The guys terrorized aluu starting from that GRA hostel, the UDSS area, down to popular coca cola junction and all the interior, down to omuoko, it was terrible, people were packing out in the numbers, come and see fine, empty houses all because of these boys. The bad road and permanent absence of nepa made it so cool for them........And you are saying am throwing points around Is this not a far cry from where you are at right now about justice and God![]() |
otokx: it is not painful to the victims of theft, in fact come around this night and i'd give you a free bottle of beer. Aluu is rejoicing and woe betide any criminal arrested this night. Where when the law enforcement when we called for help in time of trouble, they always come 2 hours after the robbers have left... nonsense ![]() ??Aluu is rejoicing which aluu? |
otokx: when the news of the death of some of this boys got to electrical electronics department, some of the students started crying until they heard it was armed robbery matter then they cleaned their tears and cursed them together with their families. |
otokx: indeed you are right, for those people who saw the armed robbers as they were being beaten said they used to dress very well, run their generators 24/7 in their self contained some say located in green house along that aluu-udss-omokri road, unknown to them they are men of the underworld.another one from you....you were very sure. |
otokx: @oyb.....I am not throwing points around....You said the above....with so much confidence |
Bwave: I thought you condemned the boys already, why are you asking for the government to sit up, when you have been going on as if the boys actually robbed you and you have all the evidence of their heinous crimes. Why have you been gleefully celebrating their ordeal? My friend you are pathetic.please help me ask him....he is the reason i joined nairaland....his sudden change of stance....I just don't understand people... |
seunajia: pDude and otokx, you guys owe us an unreserved apology. Imagine how oyb and yourselves convicted those boys without trial; Saying they were armed-robbers, they deserved what they got. blah blah.thank you very much!!!!that's what I was saying!!!!at the beginning Otokx was very sure that they were the robbers terrorising aluu??now he's talking about justice system and God ?Like you said"Why for heaven's sake?"...where is our human nature![]() |
Continued....The militants were eating at restaurants owned by these indigenes for free....raping their children, robbing them in broad daylight...these elders didn't convene that time to decide on what to to do but they convened on this one very early yesterday....I am not supporting these kids for being cultists...I am not at all but dehumanising 4 human beings like these??people's children?and ppl are clapping about it?when they were not sure?very callous I must say....very,very inhumane!!No single pic with even a pen-knife found on them, yet they were killers,no pic with the laptops or phones with over 15 pics online and 7 videos, yet they were robbers ?now finally ppl have agreed they were playing silly cult pranks and they were brandishing them all over the place as robbers in a community 2 minutes away from an institution of higher learning ?Did the elders inform the university's CSO?or any staff of the university about their impromptu court session?Aluu vigilante cannot catch 4 robbers in one day....and not one is an indigene...it is a lie!!!The man with the wooden club is a killer....someone who has never killed before in his life cannot do what he did,how he did it,if it was his first time!As at early 2000 when aluu was not even known and choba was everything, cultists were everywhere, back of chemical engineering department was a no go area...male students around there then were almost always fully armed with guns that made them close the school down anytime ...how many boys did choba community burn??they brought anybody they caught to the university and people were rusticated almost every week then... even alakahia and rumuosi communities, they called the CSO and the police anytime they catch a student suspected of anything in their community....why didn't aluu community do this...people saying they didn't see any ID on them...how many of u move about off-campus or on with your IDs ?some people only bring it out when going to town or have departmental issues to clear....If these four boys were even dragged naked to delta park gate are you saying people wouldn't have identified them as students delta park far...pritaso sef??somebody would have said.."ah ah dis boy dey my class"and so on....the excuse of no ID on them doesn't arise at all....My point is....we shouldn't be quick to judge...I went through this university with my two younger brothers then and seeing this totally breaks my heart....it could have been anybody....after all the allegations.."them rape one lecturer wife".."them kill one boy"..."them don pursue people finish..nobody dey gree rent house for aluu again"....how far now?....Did they drag them to the lecturer's wife so that she would look one in the eye and say..."This is the one that raped me" ??Let us be very very careful..The Biringa boy's father said he has left everything to God...Thinking about their families and praying they can bear this...especially their mothers.....Obadiah777....no need to insult anybody.....we just pray that God in his infinite mercy should have mercy on all of us...guide us and protect us...Amen. |
Good evening everyone, this is my first time here and i set up this account this evening just to comment on this thread....I never comment on sites...I read and move on but I had to say something on this one.....particularly because of otokx.I schooled at the university of port-harcourt and i worked there part-time before leaving port-harcourt 2 yrs ago and i lived in aluu very well,Infact my community service in year 2 was a project at Omuokiri.Otokx, the speed at which you jumped to conclusions about these boys made us believe you knew very well, conclusively, without any doubt that these were the boys terrorising aluu!your comments were very very rash, callous, lacking any basic evidence....if these boys Rob me anywhere in aluu....I'll recognise them once...these faces are the kinds you will remember very well. The first pics I got were the bloodied ones, but when i saw them cleaned up and all, these kind of faces stick (and these boys never stay uniport pass 3yrs,them too small!!!)Years ago at aluu,we couldn't sleep, every night these aluu boys will come and raid hostels...killing security men almost every week....from the genks, shepherd villa,"green villa"....even the hiltons...the way they attacked students we all knew they were indigenes cos no student,I repeat no student or group of students can Rob in aluu village and go without the indigenes been part of them...what did aluu ppl do then??am talking about 2009/2010 o...if u lived in aluu around this time....u know what i am saying...what did the aluu ppl do?Around that same time militants were camped at d man o' war camp at aluu.....over time they started robbing students and aluu indigenes...One bloody day all the militants came out......we couldnt count our losses then....from raping girls to destroying shops to looting, destroying houses owned by these same aluu ppl...all those isiewu joints u are talking about now...them no get liver open that tym na?when militants dey?what did this same aluu ppl do that time? |
