Its not that easy for a Country to break up and against wat the US and everyone thinks i dont belive Nigeria can break up |
Obasanjo did well the only thing i hold against him is him endorsing Yar'adua instead of Atiku and that was because of their broken relationship apart from that Atiku would have taken over and we would have had continuity God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria! |
I believe the great mistake obasanjo made was endorsing Yar'adua instead of Atiku Nigeria would have experienced continuity and at least we would not be in this mess. Come 2011 Atiku seems like the ONLY Northerner that can put Nigeria back on the right path |
We all know that the probability that the President is dead is high! all that BBC interview is all fake these guys are after nothing apart from their pockets, and im sure andoakaa as been settled well honestly i'm sorry to say i dont think theres anything we can do unless NLC and other groups decide to go on strike b4 we can have a CHANGE. Its unfortunate that PDP doesnt have the good of the country in their hearts, now im wishing Atiku was President We dont have much option than to wait for the Senate to wake up to their responsibility and seems each day that Nigerians are starting to accept an Offshore President. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be changed to God Help the Federal Republic of Nigeria |
Unfortunately things are turning out like Yar'adua will finish his tenure from outside the Country with our Lawmakers having other things on their minds apart from the Country As usual Nigerians rebel to things and later learn to accept and live with it ![]() Aondoakaa and his cohort know Nigerians well and have played us well |
Yar'adua has not been around and these idiots dont see it not in line with the constitution except for their pay God help us from our greedy so called leaders |
Members of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, demanded a review of their allowances to equal ministers saying it is in line with the constitution, which puts them at par. The Deputy Speaker of the House, Usman Nafada, announced this when the lawmakers discussed a bill on the salaries and allowances of political and judicial officers. The bill, “A Bill for an Act to Further Amend the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Officer Holders (Salaries and Allowance, etc) Act 2002 and for Other Related Matters Therein, 2009, 2009”, passed second reading. The consideration of the executive bill followed the directive by President Umaru Yar’Adua, last year, that the allowances of all political office holders should be reviewed downwards because of the global economic meltdown. The review was undertaken by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and forwarded to the president who in turn sent it to the National Assembly. Mr. Nafada condemned the current practice in which ministers earn more allowances, particularly estacode, than members of the House even though they are considered equal. Section 147 (5) states that “No person shall be appointed as a Minister of the Government of the Federation unless he is qualified for election as a member of the House of Representatives.” He said: “There is no reason why the allowances of the ministers should be higher than those of the members of the House. For instance, the estacode we take up to what the ministers take. Ministers are getting 100 percent higher than members are getting. He revealed that the leadership of the House has met on over five occasions to discuss the matter, but the changes are yet to be made. “We (leadership) have met more than five times on the matter, yet nothing has been done. It is not that we are opposed to their (ministers) getting allowances but since the constitution says it should be equal, it should be equal,” Mr. Nafada said. He directed that the issue be included in the bill which was referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration. No member of the House opposed Mr Nafada. Mama-gee has gotten her facts all mixed up, ![]() Pls dont spoil Ngozi Iweala's name, one of the few good people left maybe u are refering to that former speaker woman not Ngozi |
Reporter: How are you feeling Mr. President? Yar’Adua: I feel like I am still in Saudi Arabia though I am not sure where I am. Ask Turai, she will tell you how I am feeling. Reporter: Why did you give interview to BBC instead of NTA? Yar’Adua: My people cannot watch or listen to NTA due to NEPA. But with BBC, everyone will turn on their generators to watch and listen, Who will burn their diesel to watch NTA? Even Goodluck will not do that. Reporter: What about your 7 point agenda? Yar’Adua: Forget about that! That was dead on arrival. It was even OBJ’s idea. I have streamlined that into only 1 agenda – ‘Hanging on to dear life’. This will work for every Nigerian. Very simple concept that I learned here in Saudi or Yemen! Reporter: What are you going to do about Jos crisis? Yar’Adua: Jos? Is that still part of Nigeria? Wallahi, I didn’t remember. Reporter: When are you coming back to Nigeria? Yar’Adua: Never! I am not coming back but don’t tell Turai or Andoakaa. Turai might order these housemaids to switch off my life support. Andoakaa might convince Nigerians that I can rule from heaven(?) and I am just tired of the whole thing. Reporter: What message do you have for your daughters? Yar’Adua: Marry only governors. Forget the Muttallab’s! Reporter: What message do you have for Nigerians? Yar’Adua: Hold on tight! You think the ride has been rough, it is going to get worse from here. I am glad that I am not going to be part of it. I am enjoying my stay here. My brother, please change that channel for me. I need to watch the next soccer game. Angolans are my favorite team. I just love them. Reporter: Thank you Mr. President. Yar’Adua: Oh me? I am still the President? Thank you! You better leave before Turai gets back here! |
How come with the continous vacuum at the Presidency, it seems these corrupt ![]() any ideas? |
Which do you prefer? Nairaland! |

The unfortunate thing is a lot of people dont like OBJ, but im sure most of them dont know why maybe the media in a way influenced them not to appreciate the guy But if you reflect back you will notice OBJ's administration moved this Country forward I personally think he needs some credit about yar'adua i believe wat OBJ was talking about was endorsing the chap |
I can't think of a time when yar'adua met with obama, i remember a report once that yar'adua was not going to a UN summit to avoid meeting obama. Anyone with a pic of obama and yar'adua together pls post it up ![]() Is there something going on here we dont know? |
As much as people criticize OBJ noone has really thought of what he did for nigeria. i know alot of NL will not agree with me, but i believe he is one of the best presidents we have had some of his achievements while President - Fight against corruption was started - EFCC - Nigeria was respected - Our debts were forgiven - The banking sector was revived - Economic growth was seen (middle class created again) - Introduction of Mobile Telecommunication - More Nigerians in diaspora considered coming back home I think a lot of us are just myopic and used to complaining we still need to give OBJ kudos for his achievements and putting Nigeria back on the right path. about endorsing yar'adua pls tell me who else in the North would he have chosen |
FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo publicly spoke yesterday on the health and absence of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua from office, with an admonition to the ailing Nigerian leader to tread the path of honour on the matter. He also defended his support and preference for Yar'Adua as his successor. At the National Assembly, the two chambers of the legislature, were also upbeat on the Yar'Adua saga. While the Senate resolved to take its final decision on the controversy trailing the continued absence of the President on Tuesday after it was briefed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Yayale Ahmed on the leader's health conditions, the Lower House raised a six-man panel to travel to Saudi Arabia to meet Yar'Adua. In Lagos, human rights activists under the umbrella of Save Nigeria Group, stormed Alausa, Ikeja, the seat of power to protest the continued absence of Yar'Adua from the country. The President has been away abroad since November 23 to treat his dignosed acute pericarditis - and inflamation of the heart lining The rally started from the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ikeja to the State Secretariat in Alausa. The courts were almost deserted as most lawyers abandoned the courtrooms to participate in the rally. And falling short of joining in the clamour for Yar'Adua's resignation, Obasanjo said: "If you take up an appointment, or a job, elected, appointed or whatever and then your health starts failing you, and you will not be able to satisfy yourself and the people you are supposed to serve, then, there is a part of honour and a part of morality and if you don't do that, I do not need to say more than that." Obasanjo's comments came during the question and answer session of the seventh yearly Trust Dialogue organised by the Abuja-based Media Trust Limited, which he chaired. The response was triggered by a question asked by one Buhari Bello Jese, who accused the former President of being the architect of the current constitutional crisis in the nation. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/news/article02//indexn2_html?pdate=220110&ptitle=Take path of honour, Obasanjo advises Yar'Adua |
