Woman in Tears as ₦243K Vanishes 20 Minutes After ATM Seizes Card —Inside Job Suspected?

A woman was filmed crying uncontrollably while a crowd watched, refusing to be consoled after the money her husband gave her for shop rent was wiped from her account.

According to reports, her bank’s ATM seized her card while she was trying to withdraw cash. She went inside to report the issue to the bank staff, but they told her to return the following Monday to retrieve it. However, just 20 minutes later, over ₦240,000 was withdrawn from her account via a POS terminal.

The question is, who is behind the withdrawal, considering that her ATM card was still stuck in the machine? Obviously, someone must have gained access to the card. Since this happened within just 20 minutes of her card getting stuck, it is safe to assume that the person behind the withdrawal is an insider at the bank, possibly using a POS machine located inside the bank or within its premises.

What are your thoughts on this? Please drop your advice in the comments!

Summary:

Texas Representative Files Impeachment Articles Against Trump Over Gaza Plan

Democratic Representative Al Green plans to file articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, condemning his proposal for the U.S. to "take over" Gaza after resettling Palestinians elsewhere. Green called the plan a "dastardly deed" and accused Trump of supporting ethnic cleansing.

Trump’s remarks sparked backlash, but his impeachment remains unlikely, as it lacks broad Democratic support and faces Republican control in Congress.
Foreign AffairsTexas Representative Files Impeachment Articles Against Trump Over Gaza Plan by Rebuker(op): 8:58am On Feb 07, 2025
Democratic Representative Al Green has announced his intention to file articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump, condemning Trump's recent statements about Gaza as actions that "will live in infamy." Speaking on the House floor, Green described Trump’s proposal regarding Gaza as "dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done."

During a press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump suggested that the United States should "take over" Gaza and transform it into the "Riviera of the Middle East" after relocating the Palestinian population elsewhere. However, he did not clarify what legal or political authority the U.S. would use to assume control over the region or how it would displace the approximately 1.8 million Palestinians still residing there.

Trump’s remarks were met with immediate backlash, with critics accusing him of advocating ethnic cleansing. His statements also raised concerns about potential disruptions to ongoing negotiations aimed at prolonging the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas following over 15 months of conflict.

On Thursday, while appearing on C-SPAN, Green expressed strong disapproval of both Trump and Netanyahu’s comments, stating, "The president and the prime minister, what they said will live in infamy, and I don't know that they'll recover from it." He further asserted, "Quite frankly, if I may say this, I think the president, that alone in my world would cause him to have to resign."

Green, who previously attempted multiple times to impeach Trump during his presidency, emphasized that impeachment does not necessarily require a statutory crime. Citing the U.S. Constitution, he pointed out that Congress has the authority to impeach and remove a president for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." According to Green, the term "misdemeanor" encompasses misdeeds that could "shock the conscience," making it a valid basis for impeachment.

Impeachment serves as one of Congress’s most significant checks on executive power. Trump was impeached twice during his first term, though the Senate acquitted him on both occasions. There is no constitutional limit to how many times a president can be impeached.

Trump, reaffirming his stance on Tuesday, stated, "The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too." He added, "I do see a long-term ownership position, and I see it bringing great stability to that part of the Middle East and maybe the entire Middle East."

On Wednesday, Green officially declared on the House floor, "The movement to impeach the president has begun."

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed Trump’s proposal during a briefing, describing it as "an out-of-the-box idea." She defended Trump's approach, stating, "That's who President Trump is, that's why the American people elected him, and his goal is lasting peace in the Middle East for all people in the region."

However, within the Democratic Party, there was little indication that Green’s impeachment efforts had widespread support. When asked about Green’s initiative, Democratic Representative Pete Aguilar remarked, "This isn't a focus of the Democratic Caucus."

Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian American member of Congress, also voiced her outrage, posting on X (formerly Twitter), "Palestinians aren't going anywhere. This president can only spew this fanatical bull**** because of bipartisan support in Congress for funding genocide and ethnic cleansing. It's time for my two-state solution colleagues to speak up."

Despite Green’s impeachment push, the political reality remains challenging. With Republicans holding a slim majority in both the House and Senate, it is highly unlikely that any impeachment effort against Trump will advance.

Kemi Badenoch, in a press release, stated:
"Britain is our home. It's not a hotel. It's time to tell the truth on immigration and propose real plans to do something about it. I want to reduce immigration and make living here actually mean something. We need to change the way our immigration system works.

So I'm announcing that the Conservative Party is going to do the following things differently:

One, if you want to stay in our country permanently and apply for indefinite leave to remain, the time you have to live here before you apply will increase from five years to ten years.

Two, you will have to be a net contributor with a high enough salary, especially if you want to bring family members with you. And if you've got a criminal record, you're banned.

Three, if you've claimed benefits or need social housing, you can't even apply.

Four, we will increase the time before you can apply for a British passport from twelve months to five years. Meaning, it will take a minimum of fifteen years to start an application.

Five, if you enter this country illegally or outstay your visa, you'll be banned from ever gaining legal remain or a passport.

These changes, on top of a strict numerical cap on numbers, will constitute the most robust changes ever made to our immigration system. Lower numbers, secure borders, and an integration system that finally works for the British people.

This is another step in our plan to control our immigration system. If you agree, join us, and let's get it done."

A group of neighbors in Chatsworth took action on Monday when they spotted a man allegedly starting brush fires near their homes in a Los Angeles community. In a dramatic sequence captured on video, the residents chased, tackled, and detained the suspect until Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies arrived to take him into custody.

Resident Amilcar Fajardo described the moment the suspect attempted to flee. "He just started running," he said. "There were other guys there. They all helped out. We just stopped him and that was it."

Fajardo, who works in Bell Canyon, was on his way home when he noticed flames near the road. Concerned, he stopped to assess the situation.

"I just see a couple of women and kids running towards the side of the hill," he recalled. "You can see the heat waves."

Another resident, Santiago Martinez, lives close to where the fire erupted. He recounted the efforts of both neighbors and firefighters in trying to contain the flames.

"The neighbors and the firefighters were really trying to put out the fire, but if the person is three minutes away from us lighting another fire," Martinez said. "You really have to act sometimes."

Martinez claimed to have witnessed the suspect setting another fire along the road near a different community.

"If you see something, you do something," he stated. "I drove down and I found him. He was starting another fire three minutes from here."

"We all struggled through the fires," he said. "It just shows you that more people want to do more help than harm."

Be Careful with Your Words: A Lady’s Shocking Experience with the Police.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95BgWTJvx-I?si=9qKHnIBuhA4Vo50B

A lady recently shared a shocking experience on her social media about how a simple misunderstanding got her arrested and detained.

According to her, she went to the pharmacy to buy medication for her husband, who wasn’t feeling well. After purchasing the items, she stepped outside and made a phone call to inform him. She told him, "I got the drugs. I got two drugs for you. When you take them, you’ll feel better."

Unbeknownst to her, people around overheard the word "drugs" and immediately became suspicious. She didn't think anything of it until the police arrived.

They stopped her and demanded, "Where are the drugs?"

Confused, she asked, "What drugs?"

The officers insisted, and she showed them what she had bought—a hay fever tablet and pain relief medication. But they didn’t believe her. She tried to explain, saying, "Oh, drugs? I meant this." The officers responded, "Medication?" and she quickly corrected herself, "Oh yes, I meant medication."

Unfortunately, her clarification didn’t help. She was taken to the police station, detained, and questioned. In her own words, "They asked me questions, questions." She called her husband to explain, telling him, "Something happened. I went to get medication, and they said I can't go home da da da da because of what I said."

She explained that she had spoken loudly on the phone earlier because she was excited to have found the medication, as there were very few places to buy it. But the police weren’t satisfied. Before releasing her, they conducted a midnight search of her house.

After finally being let go, she was on her way home when she received a video from her husband showing the mess the police had left behind. She lamented, "Guys, I swear, this Nigerian English is just putting me into trouble because the fact that I called medication 'drugs' was the problem, and I didn't know."

She went on to say, "It's not the first time I've said English wrongly, which I feel that's what we say in Nigeria. So why should I be bothered? But this one got me in a big mess."

She concluded by warning others, "Let's be careful with this Nigerian English before it takes us to prison!"

Her experience is a reminder that language differences can sometimes lead to unexpected trouble. What is normal in one country may have a completely different meaning elsewhere.

Foreign AffairsSouth African President Fires Back At Trump: 'stay Out Of Our Issues!' (Pix/Vid) by Rebuker(op): 2:10pm On Feb 03, 2025
A statement from Pretoria came after Trump, on Sunday, threatened to cut future funding to South Africa over alleged land confiscation and the mistreatment of "certain classes of people."

"South Africa is confiscating land and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY. It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t even want to mention. A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see," he said on his Truth Social platform.

Trump’s outburst came after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Expropriation Bill into law last month, replacing the pre-democratic Expropriation Act of 1975. The new legislation outlines the process by which state entities can expropriate land in the public interest for various purposes.

Trump stated that the U.S. would halt all funding to the country until a thorough investigation into the matter was completed.

However, Ramaphosa emphasized that South Africa is a "constitutional democracy deeply rooted in the rule of law, justice, and equality."

He clarified that the only funding South Africa receives from the U.S. is for HIV/AIDS prevention.
“There is no other funding that South Africa receives from the United States.”

On Monday, while speaking, the South African president said:

"This issue that Trump fears so much—we offered this portion of the land. I don't know what Donald Trump wants to do with South African land because he has never been here. He should keep his America, and we will keep our South Africa. South Africa is our land; it belongs to all the people who live here, not to Donald Trump. He can keep his America.

He is even worse. When I meet him, I will tell him: Donald Trump, you are even worse because your forefathers came to America, found the indigenous Americans, wiped them out, and killed nearly all of them. Now, as black and white South Africans, we are going to find solutions to our land issues. Donald Trump must leave us alone. He must stay out of our affairs because when we were facing apartheid and oppression, he was not here. He didn't fight side by side with us. Yet, on our own—yes, with the support of progressive forces around the world—we were able to resolve all apartheid-related issues.

Donald Trump was nowhere near the negotiating table, so he should sit in his White House while we mind our business here.

We will find solutions to our problems, so stay out of our issues. We will not interfere in America’s problems, so leave us alone!"

Summary:

Nigerian doctor Amos Akinbiyi is suing the Saskatchewan Health Authority for alleged racism and retaliation. His case follows complaints from other non-white doctors about discrimination at Regina General Hospital. The province is reviewing the hospital’s workplace culture, with findings expected in 2025.

CBC News:
HealthDr. Amos Akinbiyi Sues Saskatchewan Health Authority Over Alleged Racism by Rebuker(op): 8:22pm On Feb 02, 2025
A Regina doctor is taking the Saskatchewan Health Authority to court, accusing the organization and some of its employees of intimidation, breach of contract, conspiracy and defamation.

Dr. Amos Akinbiyi said he believes there has been a retaliation campaign against him motivated by racism.

"The treatment that I've had with the SHA only made me realize that I don't belong," Akinbiyi said.

The allegations in his lawsuit have not been tested in court.

Originally from Nigeria, Akinbiyi was educated and trained in England and Scotland.

He has worked in England, Saudi Arabia, and Newfoundland and Labrador as an obstetrician gynecologist, or ob-gyn, and began working in Saskatchewan in 1996.

Between 1996 and 2021, Akinbiyi trained medical residents to become specialists like him. He said he was happy in the province until 2017.

That's when Akinbiyi says he was forced to save his daughter's life when she began coding, or experiencing a medical emergency, as she gave birth.

Doctors are not supposed to provide medical services to their family members. According to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan's code of ethics, it is only allowed in emergency situations and when no other physicians are available.

Akinbiyi said other medical professionals were available and on-call when was called to his daughter's bedside.

His lawsuit also states that his actions were a violation of a cultural taboo in Nigeria against a parent viewing their child's exposed body.

"They called me to come and resuscitate my own daughter, and I told them not to [call me]. So what happened was that two hours after she coded again, guess who they called? They called me to come and resuscitate," Akinbiyi said.

Akinbiyi said that after the incident, as he was upset about performing the life-saving procedure, he was told to go home.

"How could I go home? My daughter is in code blue. I mean, that's between life and death," Akinbiyi said.

He filed complaints against the workers at the Regina General Hospital's obstetrics unit and supported his daughter as she went public with her concerns.

Akinbiyi alleges his actions affected his standing with the health authority, and that other officials retaliated against him by filing complaints with the health authority and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

He said the complaints, which include unprofessional conduct, have been without merit.

Two charges filed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan have been resolved with an undertaking, where Akinbiyi agreed to undergo education.

The charges were not admitted to or proven, according to the college's disciplinary records. One charge of unprofessional conduct remains pending.

The complaints with the Saskatchewan Health Authority remain unresolved.

Akinbiyi is now suing the health authority and various staff members at the obstetrics unit. It has been an expensive and lengthy process, but Akinbiyi said he's motivated by more than just an effort to clear his name.

"This is not the first time SHA will be doing this to some ethnic doctors, and I feel I'm committed to pursuing this to a conclusive end despite all the financial involvement, despite all the exhaustion, because this is a task for generations to come, not just only for me," Akinbiyi said.

The health authority said in a statement that it will not comment on legal matters before the court, but is committed to delivering high-quality health care across Saskatchewan.

"We are dedicated to maintaining a collegial and collaborative workplace that provides a healthy and positive environment," the health authority wrote in a statement.

In court on Friday, the Saskatchewan Health Authority's lawyers moved to strike its employees from the lawsuit, saying they were acting in their official capacity as health workers. The health authority also moved to strike claims it argued were deficient.

Justice Andrew Davis reserved his decision.
Although Akinbiyi is the only doctor taking part in his lawsuit, he said he is not the only one who has been discriminated against at Regina General Hospital.

The province has launched a review of the workplace culture among doctors at hospitals in Regina after 11 doctors — all trained in Africa or East Asia — reported racism and discrimination from hospital leadership.

In November 2023, the doctors filed a complaint with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, alleging management gave sought-after teaching shifts exclusively to white doctors.

Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill provided few specifics when the province's review was announced, but confirmed there had been allegations of racism.

The review, set to be carried out by two "highly respected, experienced medical leaders" from outside Saskatchewan, is still underway, according to the Ministry of Health.

"That work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025," the ministry said in a statement.

A traveler passing through O'Hare International Airport was caught in a shocking moment when a customs dog alerted officials to something suspicious in her luggage—only for them to discover meat infested with maggots.

Although the incident occurred on May 30, 2024, an American woman recently reposted the clip on X (formerly Twitter), reigniting online discussions and humorous reactions. The video shows a beagle sniffing out a suitcase, prompting customs agents to inspect the bag. Upon opening it, they found ziplocked bags of meat crawling with live maggots.

A customs officer, seen sorting through two suitcases beside the luggage conveyor belt, reacts in shock as she uncovers the contraband. Multiple bags of meat, along with writhing maggots, are clearly visible.

Briana Mary, who shared the video, claimed the meat was "raw African bushmeat" that had been sitting in the suitcase for over 30 hours following a flight from Africa, with a layover in Amsterdam. She questioned, "How did this make it through two different airports to reach O'Hare?"

In the video’s caption, she wrote: "The hound had alerted to the baggage before it even hit the conveyor belt—it went absolutely nuts. As soon as the luggage hit the belt, the dog started ripping at the plastic wrap."

Following the incident, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was reportedly contacted. Bushmeat is illegal to bring into the U.S. due to the potential health risks it poses.

In a statement to Newsweek, the CDC explained, "Multiple federal agencies prohibit the importation of bushmeat and other meats. CDC prohibits bushmeat if it appears to be from a CDC-regulated animal (one that can transmit disease to humans) or if it cannot be identified." The agency clarified that, in this case, the meat seemed to come from a non-CDC-regulated animal, so U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) handled the situation.

Bushmeat refers to raw or minimally processed meat from wild animals—such as antelope or primates—found in certain regions of the world. It may carry significant disease risks.

Interestingly, many Americans who saw the video were unfamiliar with the term bushmeat, leading to a mix of amusing and misinformed reactions. Some assumed it exclusively referred to monkey meat, with one user humorously stating, "It's monkey meat." This sparked further debate, as many people wrongly concluded that all Africans consume monkey meat.

This kind of misinformation highlights the importance of awareness when traveling. Africans, particularly Nigerians, must be mindful of what is and isn’t permitted in foreign countries to avoid situations where misleading narratives can arise.
