Politics › Re: How Obi Set New Standard For African Politicians — Ghanaian Cleric, Kwadwo by reddingtonblack: 2:45pm On Jan 19, 2023 |
IfnobeGod20: All what you mentioned are what I have mentioned in my previous comments, you're just trying hard to exert on your main point of no need to save by Obi. I have said it already that cutting cost of governance, curbing corruption and opening up and harnessing other aspect of economy is what Nigeria need and we've not been doing them. And that was why I said, Nigeria is rich and not poor. Please get the difference, you're using different word entirely. I made use of "rich" and "poor", which was the word you used earlier and not the word "broke" you just introduced. But do you know that one can be broke but still be rich? That's just the replica of what Nigeria is. We are a rich nation but broke in liquid cash because our abundant human and material resources are sources of wealth to the nation but yet untapped.
You claimed that Obi never did capital project but I want to put it to you that he did many capital projects. You can only say he didn't do gigantic capital projects because it was on record that he built over 12 overhead bridges, built 2 to 3 hospitals and renovated many owed by religious based, built many schools and renovated those owed by religious based, opened up a business hub that is a source of revenue generation to the state today, constructed over 800km of roads in his 8 years tenure, without consideration to many problems he faced within this 8 years tenure. Two impeachment in-between and you know what that mean, destabilization of his policies.
All these projects are verifiable ones and not the ones his successor did but directly to him and in all these he was able to save for the rainy day that his successor used to build airport. What else did Obiano built that was worthy of note if not that airport? If Obi had not left such huge saving, what do you think would happen? Obiano would go and borrow to finance the project but somebody saved what he used. I think we need to leave politics and appreciate good thing if we see one.
Before I commented on Tinubu's achievements you raised. Let me put to you that hope you know that the monthly federal accrue to Lagos state is almost double what goes to Anambra state. Go and verify and if you can not, I will avail you with state allocation during their periods.
Now to Tinubu issue. Please what was the multiple choice of income that Tinubu created during his tenure? I will be glad if you can list them here for the world to be abreast with them, so as not to speak in vacuum.
As at1999, Lagos was a productive state and never a poor state. Over 70% of companies, industries and markets in Lagos today are already in Lagos and they are potential income generating channels to the government, which the Lagos state government took advantage of by beginning to tax them and not because he created new companies or industries or open up new markets. And not only that, the two ports and the airport were also in existence before 1999. I think what I expected you people to be saying is, he tapped on the existing privileges on ground and not because he created anything that serves as sources of income to the state during his tenure.
You may also want to play smart by saying what of Eko Atlantic City and Lekki. These are projects that have been in existence since1940st and not new and these projects are now PPP projects, solely done by a south Africa company and FG.
Check the poster attached for the investment on the same area in 40st. Lagos has been a work in progress for donkey years and Tinubu was wise enough to tap into it. Just as I always say, Lagos doesn't require a superman to superintend over it. It just require an ordinary man to do the extraordinary without stress because the resources are readily available, which no other state in the federation has. Or can you tell me any other state that has all the effects available in Lagos?
Let me now go to management of resources of Lagos for Lagosians. I want to ask you, if you will be truthful to your conscience. If all the money that have been accrued to Lagos government both in revenue, borrowings and allocation have found her ways into the hands of prudent manager of state resources, would Lagos have been in that state today? No doubt Lagos state should have been a country on its own but till date her development had not corresponded to the resources accrual to it. If Lagos is a mini Dubai today, it is not out of place. It doesn't take Dubai 20 years to make a turnaround that our people now flooding their Emirate. Even Cairo, Cape Verde doesn't have the kind of resources Lagos have and it doesn't take them such lengthen years to change the province economy fortune. So comparing Lagos and Anambra is the unwise thing to do by anybody. Anambra should be compare to her contemporaries that were created same year and compare them developmentally. See below states created same time with Anambra:
Abia State 27 August 1991 Adamawa State 27 August 1991 Delta State 27 August 1991 Edo State 27 August 1991 Enugu State 27 August 1991 Jigawa State 27 August 1991 Kebbi State 27 August 1991 Kogi State 27 August 1991 Osun State 27 August 1991 Taraba State 27 August 1991 Yobe State 27 August 1991 These are states to be compare with Anambra in all indices and not Lagos that are endowed with all resources that can make her to function even as a country. Now, which of the above states can favourably compare with Anambra or can Osun not be compare with Lagos. At least two of Tinubu's proteges have managed the state. Were they able to turn Osun to Dubai than Obi turned Anambra to? Tinubu is just privileged to govern a prosperous state and not because he has special wit. At least Peter Obi has shown his wit in both private and public life and he excel in private life as a billionaire and he equally tried in public service. Can we know and put side by side the private and public service of both and see who and who has excelled greatly. Lagos is former capital, i should have known you are one them, people that can turn lagos to Dubia buh can't stay in there region and transform it to America. Here is an honest review of Peter Obi 8yrs tenure as governor by NL as far back as 2012,so you can't say it was fabricated by Apc urchins. enjoy https://www.nairaland.com/870945/what-exactly-peter-obi-doing |

pacespot: Let's be sincere with ourselves, Sowore doesn't have a solid base that can deliver him a block vote like Peter Obi having South East and South South. You need to have a block vote from at least one or two of the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria for you to have a chance of winning the presidency. Also Peter Obi presidency will open ways for people like Sowore to become president too. Because people believe that only political parties with "structures" like APC and PDP can produce the president, but if Obidients can burst that myth by making Obi president, then the future intending presidents will rather focus on selling themselves rather than looking for one big political party to join. Even APC and PDP will not want to mess with Nigerians again by presenting sick and old candidates like Tinubu and Atiku if you believe obi chances of getting vote is dependant on block votes from SE & SS then you just collaborated what some of us have being saying that OBi is just an Igbo project driven by sentiments & tribalism. If people are the structure as Obedient fondly claim, then supporting & pushing someone like sowore or likes of moghalu shouldnt be a problem, citing excuses of block vote or whatever are just signs of insincerity. His records are there as a governor under APGA if want to check. If Peter Obi had wanted to make a change in Nigeria, there was no way he could have done it by himself without running for public office under a major political party like PDP. When PDP rejected him because he was not ready to play a transactional politics in their last presidential primary, he quickly left the party. It was the Nigerian youths, now Obidients, that asked him to contest for presidency under another political party. Why are you so full of deciet, there is no lie to heavy una mouth, where did Nigerian youths gather to ask peter obi to contest, where & when ?? Peter Obi just like every other candidate is ambitious and wants to be the president ... he went to LP by himself, majority of those claiming obedient naw were voices behind Atikulate in 2019. pacespot: Peter Obi is not a Messiah, but Peter Obi candidacy is a clear diversion from the current leadership bedeviling Nigerians, and also an emphatic statement for the youth to challenge the leaders of this country to be on their toes.
Most of our leadership problems are crested on perception and mentality, like the Emilokans. A vote for Tinubu or Atiku is a vote for the continuation of the current system in Nigeria. It also means the future of this country (youth) has been defeated.
I can assure you that the same youths supporting Peter Obi today would be the first to castigate him if he failed to deliver on his promises and expectation placed on him. We Obidients are just out to correct the impressions among leaders in Nigeria. Should Obi emerge victorious in this poll, I can assure you the president that Nigeria will produce will not be the calibres of Tinubu and Atiku again.
A lot of potential presidents among young Nigerians are just waiting for how this 2023 election will turn out. You will see that if Obi is victorious, many youths will come out to contest for presidency in 2027, even those in diaspora. You made it sound as good leadership is by age or being a youth, do we not have governors today that are youth by age, if we run a comparism between the aged & youth governors wll have currently which side will win the best governor. ideally youth benchmarks stops at 49. i found it preposterous that obedient are using a 62yrs OBI o push an emancipation for youths to take over, lets even assume Peter Obi wins how is that an encourage for youths .. are we mate ? what exempt a 62yr old peter obi from the same generation of old men that failed us. if these so called obedient are being sincere why not support sowore who is appropriate representation of youths. |

Politics › Re: How Obi Set New Standard For African Politicians — Ghanaian Cleric, Kwadwo by reddingtonblack: 12:24pm On Jan 19, 2023 |
IfnobeGod20: Let me start from your last statement. Please who told you Nigeria has no money? Nigeria is a very rich country. The problem of Nigeria is waste. Too much waste and until we have leadership that can curtail the excess waste in all our national life before we can breakthrough. I know you yourself know that our system of government encourages waste and it has brought us this untold hardship. You've heard Obi repeatedly saying how he curtailed many waste the state should have incurred, which later helped him to meet up with government dealings and at the same time still save for rainy day. If Nigerian leaders have been prudent in managing Nigeria resources, Nigeria would have been a developed nation for long. All what Nigeria needed as a nation, God has endowed the nation but our problem is principally leadership failure. As at today Nigeria have made more richer politicians with no single trace of enterprise than made wealth of her economy. They instead paralyze the institutions that suppose to generate wealth for the country for the benefit of politicians. So, the country is a wealthy country and no gainsaying about that.
Your first paragraph have justified that the country is wealthy but the inability of the nation to diversify to more profitable ventures is what is affecting the nation. We only focus on oil and the same oil only few are feasting on it at the detriment of the nation.
You weren't against saving but you were against Peter Obi saving, even after he has repeatedly said he owed no salary, owed no pension, owed no contractor that have successfully completed their contract before the expiration of his tenure. Built schools, hospitals, built nursing schools, built roads, built bridges and also open up one of the biggest industrial hub in south east that is not a PPP project but solely government project his government financed and till date those industries sited their are still employing thousands of Anambrans. So his saving was borne out of prudent management of resources accrual to the state. If he is owing and not perform his obligation, I will also join in condemning him but he was able to save for rainy day which his successor used to build airport. All what I wrote up here, he repeated same at Chatham House and he has been saying it everywhere he has opportunity of talking about his stewardship in Anambra. A country that can't finance its budget and relies greatly on borrowed fund to finance projects and re-expenditure is technically broke, no country chose borrowing as an hobby, hello Nigeria use over 80% of its revenue to service loan and you still ask how i know nigeria is broke seriously from an advance study, the problem of Nigeria is not just waste, without displacing corruption i think our problem centres on "dependants" .... we are not doing enough to upscale our sources of revenue and we're under utilizing our resources. Cutting down govt expenses won't still yield the desire effect if we don't stop running an unproductive economy, the peter obi you are trying so hard to justify is not as if he reduced govt cost during his tenure, instead what the guyman did was not to embark on capital projects, Obi just like other state governors depended greatly on FG allocation compared to a Tinubu that upscale lagos economy into independence, today lagos runs a budget bigger than most Africa countries budget ... it would have being tantamount to waste if lagos did not creat multiple source of income to live up to her responsiblities. What Nigeria needs as a matter of priority is multi streams of revenue, despite adding more local govt If Tinubu could run lagos without depending on FG allocation then he is the man Nigeria needs. Obi is just like one of the boyz in jesus parable that was given coin, he buried it and returned it as he was given that is not prudent management. We need somebody that can do magic with the what we have, savings comes after earning not b4, however Peter investment in sabmiller and his next company that was shutdown for an undisclose annual report as shown OBi is a scam that can not be trusted |

IfnobeGod20: Mr. Man, no country can survive without a saving culture. Any country that consume all her earnings just because its need to spend money always have problem in the time of difficulty. It is the same way workers are always advised to cultivate the culture of saving as to prepare for the rainy day. You will always have what to fall back on during difficult times when you saved. The economy crutch we are experiencing today is as a result of not preparing for it when we have oil boom because of the mentality of putting all our fingers in our mouths at once. No matter the difficulty economist advise saving culture either in government or private life. One thing that you people are taking away from him (Peter Obi) is as he always asked. Did he owe any contractor that has fully completed his contract before the expiration of his tenure? He repeated same At Chatham House that he owed no salary, owed no pension, owed no contractor, built roads, built hospitals, built schools but still saved. What is the problem in that? Every developed nations sometimes have savings multiple of their debt and that is what is giving them more confidence.
Read the importance of savings from the two links below and the extracts from the two links as to appreciate the importance of saving to a state or country. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.britannica.com/topic/saving%23:~:text%3DSaving%2520is%2520important%2520to%2520the,from%2520consuming%2520their%2520entire%2520income.&ved=2ahUKEwi30JjegNH8AhVVYKQEHRM2BgMQFnoECBEQBQ&usg=AOvVaw3zl_Ug3sQpIT_PwMs4zav0 "Saving is important to the economic progress of a country because of its relation to investment. According to the model, countries need to increase their saving rates and thus their investment rates in order to be able to develop" OGa all that epistle is unnecessary, stop putting the cart before the horse ... before savings you must earn, from a realistic point of a country barely making enough to cater for her basic needs, priority should be diversification and optimize productivity not SAVINGS. You don't have to preaching saving to a man making 50k profit daily no matter is expenses there will be accumulation. For the last, i'm not against saving or postulating savings in bad ... buh Nigeria is her current position savings shouldnt be a priority ... we must optimize local production, diversy to creat room for more earning that what will reduce inflation and revive the economy. Nigeria no get money you dey shout savings, save what ?? |

OGHENAOGIE: there are igbos supporting APC and asiwaju infact Igbo groups self... Afenifere didn't support APC in 2015 and 2019 so what surprise they are supporting a loser obi on d ground of na Igbo turn... Next month elections is about Party ist not tribe or religion and APC PDP remains the big two parties to slug it out labour party would be lucky to come Third We are most like saying the same things buh what i won't agree with is that these year election is about ... on the contrary i think these year is about TRIBE because for the 1st time ever we have the 3 main tribe Nigeria is sub-divided into presenting a candidate. you get |

OGHENAOGIE: so because of this obi ll not lose next month abi.... Dey play sha we ll see how many votes labour party ll get... I am not talking about who will win, i was only try to illustrate to the person i quoted, igbos are more tribalistic, yorubas don't carry each other for head that why you will see Afenifere the only pan yoruba group being the 1st to speak against Asiwaju emerging. Igbos will cover each other up no matter the circumstances, fortunately their only limitation is population. |

CrownOfClay724: Thing is man is getting support for many reasons— like other candidates .
A lot of yoruba people are hellbent on voting BAT because he is Yoruba, his infirmities, bleak and shoddy past notwithstanding .
Same goes for Atiku.
Did that colour them as ethnic candidate?
Or is it when an igbo man echo the same thing that it becomes an agenda
Think Yorubalokan. Think vote Arewa. I have yorubas friends and neighbor that are hellbent on voting for Peter Obi ... buh i don't have any igbo friend that wants to vote Tinubu. Listen to radio morning shows, if 20 igbo call in all will be for Peter obi and if 10 yoruba should call in,about 6 will be shared between atiku & Obi, while 3 might support Tinubu and the remaining one fit play neutral sef. That is the difference |
