PhonesXiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo Will Fully Charge Your Phone In 17 Minutes by Reediano(op): 1:56pm On Mar 26, 2019
Oppo which is the parent company of OnePlus and Vivo currently has the fastest mobile charging technology with its SuperVOOC Flash Charge which produces 50W at 10V/5a, Xiaomi is however about to beat that record with its upcoming fast charge which it calls the "Super Charge Turbo".

The Super Charge Turbo from Xiaomi which is expected to launch today will charge at a speed of 100W at 20v/5a. Xiaomi's co-founder and president Lin Bin, posted a new video on his Weibo account comparing the new Xiaomi's 100W Super Charge Turbo on a 4000mAh battery against the Oppo R17 Pro with the 50W SuperVOOC Flash Charge on a smaller 3700mAh battery.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1tuqXEr_No
According to the video, the Xiaomi phone was able to charge the battery from 0% to 50% in just 7 minutes and from 50% to 100% in another 10 minutes which makes a total of 17minutes from 0 to 100% compared to the Oppo which did it in 35minutes which is more than two times slower.

At the moment, we still don't know which of Xiaomi's upcoming smartphones will adopt this new fast charge technology, the Mi9 currently supports a 27W fast charge. The full details of the Super Charge Turbo will be officially unveiled today in China.

PhonesSamsung Galaxy S10 Face Unlock Can Be Fooled By A Photo, Video, Or Look Alikes by Reediano(op): 4:21pm On Mar 11, 2019
The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is no doubt the most talked about phone of the year. One of the main selling point of the Galaxy S10s is the infinity "O" cutout display which ditches the famous display notch for a laser cutout which houses the front facing camera.

In other to achieve this, Samsung had to make a few sacrifices and one of them is ditching it's traditional iris face recognition unlock for a less secure Face ID which uses the front facing camera instead of a dedicated IR scanner like on the iPhones.

Camera based Face unlock has been known to be less secured compared to the IR Face unlock and this has been proven on multiple phones including the OnePlus 6t. Unfortunately, the one on the Galaxy S10 series is no exception. A couple of reports have surfaced online about the Face unlock on the Galaxy S10 being fooled by videos, still photos and even faces of look alikes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGgQ9woZQOg&feature=youtu.be&t=137
Unbox Therapy who happens to be a very popular tech YouTuber recently posted a video which shows him unlocking his Galaxy S10+ with one of his YouTube videos being played from another smartphone at close range. An app developer was also able to unlock her brother's phone with her own face even though they aren't twins and there is also another case of the face recognition being fooled by a still photo.

In Samsung's defence though, the company already stated it that the face unlock is mainly for convenience over security and you still have the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner which is also known to be a bit slower and inconsistent compared to the traditional fingerprint reader.

PhonesEnergizer Power Max P18K Pop Officially Announced With 18,000mah Battery by Reediano(op): 7:59pm On Mar 07, 2019
While most smartphone manufacturers are going for slimmer and lighter phone designs, a company called Energizer have decided to go the other way round by focusing more on battery rather than aesthetics on its new Energizer Power Max P18K Pop smartphone. The phone which is 18mm thick comes with a very large battery to complement for its huge size.

The phone is equipped with a 6.2-Inch IPS display which features a resolution of 2280x1080 pixel. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset with 4 Arm Cortex-73 and 4 Arm Cortex-A53. It also comes with Arm Mali G72-MP3 GPU. You can get the phone in just one memory configuration which is 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The P18K pop spots a triple rear camera setup with 12-megapixel primary camera, a second 5-megapixel camera and a third 2-megapixel camera. It also features a dual front facing pop-up camera with a main 16MP sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone runs on the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box.

The main selling point of the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop is it's massive 18,000mAh battery which the company claims can get you up to 4 days of music playback (non-stop), 2 days of video or up to 50 days of standby. It comes with a 2.0 quick charging support at 18W, via the Type-C port.

The P18K pop supports dual SIM dual standby with 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. It's worth noting that even with the huge size, the P18K pop doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is expected to go on sale soon at a starting price of €599.

PhonesSamsung Now Lets Users Customise The Bixby Button On Galaxy Smartphone by Reediano(op): 8:57am On Mar 05, 2019
Samsung has finally given in and the tech giant has started rolling out an update which lets Samsung Galaxy users remap the Bixby button on their Galaxy Note 9, S9, S9+, Note 8, S8 and S8+. With this new update users will be able to remap the button to call up any third party app of their choice such as the camera App, Instagram, twitter etc.

To reprogram the Bixby button, just head over to your phone's "Settings", click on the "Advanced features", and select the "Bixby key" option. This will let you reprogram either the single or double click of the Bixby button to any system or third party App of your choice. You will be able to remap just one option and not both.

This means that users still won't be able to totally disable Bixby as you have the option to only disable either the single or double click and not both, and the unmapped option will still call up Bixby. Also, long pressing the Bixby button will always launch the "Bixby voice".

Samsung has also taken extra measures to ensure users don't kill or substitute Bixby by making it almost impossible to remap the button to other rival virtual assistant like the Google assistant.

PhonesXiaomi's Double Folding Smartphone Is Coming Soon - Hands-on Video Posted Online by Reediano(op): 9:25pm On Jan 24, 2019
Foldable smartphones seems to be the new trend for the year 2019. Samsung is expected to announce it's first foldable smartphone on February 20. Huawei and LG are also reportedly working on their own foldable phone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxQrFmQ-Txk
A new video has just surfaced which shows Xiaomi's co-founder and CEO Lin Bin with what looks like the company's own foldable device. He was seen on camera demonstrating how the device works. Unlike other foldable device and renders that we have seen so far, this is completely different.

The device doesn't fold inward but rather folds outward with two creases. When in tablet form, you can fold both the top and the bottom of the device backward into a smartphone which looks like a 3:2 display aspect ratio. This is the first double folding smartphone we have seen so far.

The device shown in the video is however still a prototype. We still don't know when the phone will go into production or when Xiaomi will officially unveil it. So we can't get too excited yet as the final product might be different from what we are seeing now.

PhonesXiaomi Set To Launch Its Products In Africa - To Compete With Tecno and Infinix by Reediano(op):
The smartphone market has gotten more competitive over time even in the midrange space as big players like Samsung has been paying more attention to that sector. Aside that, general smartphone sales in countries like China has been experiencing a steady decline. So Xiaomi has been shifting more of its focus on international markets like Europe, most part of Asia and now Africa.

Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, recently revealed in a memo to employees that an "African Regional Department" will be launched soon and it will be tasked with the expansion of the brand on the continent. This new department will be headed by Wang Lingming, (formerly vice-president of Xiaomi’s international division), reporting to senior vice-president Wang Xiang.

Although Xiaomi already has a presence in Africa, this is mostly through third party distributors like Jumia in Nigeria and takealot in South Africa, as well as many other users who order directly from China through AliExpress. The lack of customer service, unavailability of parts and high price through third has however affected the sales of Xiaomi devices in the region.

With Xiaomi establishing an African regional department, the company will be able to cut off third party and sell directly to customers thereby reducing cost of their smartphones, gain much more ground and also provide after sales support.
The smartphone market in Africa is currently dominated by transsion holdings (owners of Infinix, Tecno and item) accounting for over 35% shipments in the third quarter of 2018, followed by Samsung with 22% and Huawei with 10%. Xiaomi will have to compete with this three brands for market dominance. Time will tell if they will be able to hold up or not.

It's worth noting that Xiaomi once tried to enter Nigeria market but the company was halted by a court injunction obtained by a South African firm, Mi-Fone. Mi-Fone argued that Xiaomi’s products had the same “Mi” as the South African firm. The ban has however been lifted after Xiaomi obtained a pass to sell its devices in Nigeria.

Microsoft already stopped manufacturing the Windows smartphones three years ago with the Lumia 650 being it's last phone. The company also announced the death of the windows phone line about a year ago but that hasn't stopped the regular security updates for the windows 10 smartphones.

In a bid to give more exposure to its range of high end smartphones, XIaomi has decided to separate it's high end smartphones from its midrange smartphones. Just like Huawei and it's Honor brand, Xiaomi has just launched a new Redmi brand to cater for its midrange phones and the first phone to be released by the new brand is the Redmi note 7.

The new Redmi Note 7 is the first smartphone from Xiaomi this year and also the successor to last year's Redmi Note 6 with a couple of upgrades. The device if powered by Qualcomm's midrange Snapdragon 660 chipset.

The Redmi note 7 has a 2.5D front and back glass panel instead of the traditional aluminium back panel. The phone sports a 6.3-inch FHD IPS display with a water drop notch which houses the front facing camera. It also has a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

One of the main selling point of the note 7 is the primary rear facing 48MP Samsung's CMOS sensor camera which works by merging four pixels to work as one large 1.6µm pixel. This produces a clearer and brighter 12MP image even in low light conditions. The rear dual camera set-up also has a secondary 5MP shooter. In the front of the note 7 is a single 13MP front facing camera which also works for the Face ID unlock.

The phone is packed with a 4000mAh battery with Qualcomm's QC 4.0. This is also the first Xiaomi Redmi phone to come with a USB Type-C port.

The phone will be launched in China on January 15 and it will be available in three different variants. The base version with 3GB/32GB will sell for around $147 (Appr. N53,000, Rs10,000), the 4GB/64GB version will go for around $177(Appr. N64,000, Rs12,000) and the top specced 6GB/64GB Redmi Note 7 will cost about $206(N75,000, Rs15,000). Redmi Note 7 has three gradient-color options: gold, blue and black.

PhonesRender Images Of The 2019 Apple Iphone XI Shows Three Rear Camera Setup by Reediano(op): 9:17am On Jan 09, 2019
Even though it's just the start of a new year which means the launch of a new iPhone is still months away, we already have an early rendered leak of what seems to be the upcoming iPhone XI. The render was leaked online by a reliable Twitter leakster who goes by the handle @onleaks.

Going by the leak, the upcoming high end iPhone models might be equipped with triple rear camera setup. The image shows two vertically aligned camera lens like on the iPhone Xs models and a third lens placed on the right side just below the flash led.

Earlier reports has it that Apple is working on implementing a Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera on the future iPhone models which could be used to create 3D models. So it won't be a surprise if the third lens on the render is used for that purpose.

Apple won't be launching new iPhone models until the third quarter of the year which is still like nine months away. So the rendered image above will most likely go though series of design changes before the final version is released.

PhonesStream Live TV Shows For Free On Cruise TV App With MTN by Reediano(op): 3:10pm On Dec 19, 2018
So I will be introducing a new streaming App to you guys and it is called cruise TV. Unlike other streaming apps, this app doesn't offer you variety of channel but it offers you a particular TV channel in form of an App.

Cruise TV is dedicated to promote the African Culture Heritage; it has been designed to cater for all ages and all races throughout Africa. The channel offers a unique experience in digital broadcasting. As a corporate organization, we are firmly committed to provide the highest level of services without exception
What makes this app really awesome is that it lets you stream without data on your MTN ng SIM. So if you have an MTN Nigeria SIM with no airtime or data, you can still live stream on the cruise TV app. That doesn't stop you from streaming the App on other networks or countries but data will be required.

Cruise TV offers 24/7 entertainment and it has varieties of programmes which you can check out from the schedule category.

At this point, there is almost a suitable data plan for everybody irrespective of the network you are using. we have the etisalat data offer with 1.2GB for N200, Airtel download bundle with 1GB for N350 and Glo special data with 1.2GB for 200. MTN also has it's own data plan which gives you 1.5GB data.

Even though the MTN data plan is more expensive than the rest, it gives you more data and its validity is for 7 days compared to others that last for just1 to 3 days. This data plan works on all internet enabled devices and all MTN SIM either new or old.
This is the weekend plan, and even the main data is just 500MB, you will get extra 1000MB data as bonus with the same validity of 7 days.

How to Activate the MTN 1.5GB for N500
>> Recharge your MTN line with at least N500 airtime.
>> After that, Dial *131*103# to activate.
>> You will receive 500MB data + 1000MB bonus, valid for 7 days.
>> Dial *131*4# to check your data balance and bonus.

That's it guys.

PhonesWhatsapp Limits Message Forwarding To Just 5 Users by Reediano(op): 11:50pm On Dec 15, 2018
For some time now, Facebook has been working on tackling the issue of fake news on WhatsApp. Earlier this year, whatsApp introduced a forwarding tag which lets WhatsApp users know when a message is sent directly or forwarded to them.

In July of this year, WhatsApp also limited message forwarding to just a maximum of 20 users at a time. Now latest report from popular WhatsApp tipster, WABetainfo has it that the forward limit has been further reduced from 20 users to just 5 users.

The 5 users limit for forwarded message has been available in India for quite sometime now, but WhatsApp has decided to implement the 5 user limit globally. This new adjustment will take effect, starting from the latest whatsApp version.
