The latest WhatsApp Beta version v2.18.335 comes with a new feature which is called the "Private Reply". With this new feature, you will be able to send messages privately to a group participant in a group chat without actually letting other group members know about it.

To use the new private reply feature, just open a group chat, then tap and hold on the message you want to reply to. After that, click on the three dots on the top right corner for more options and tap on ‘Reply privately'. This will open a personal chat with that particular person.

The update is currently available to Android WhatsApp Beta Users who are on the version 2.18.335. There is no report yet as to when the feature will be rolled out to other users. However, you can download the latest WhatsApp beta version from the link below, but note that the current version has a bug which crashes the app whenever you attempt to delete a media from a chat.

For almost 10 years now since Facebook acquired WhatsApp, the company has managed to make the platform completely free by cancelling the $1 yearly service charge with no Ads. There has however been a couple of reports from reliable sources that Facebook is now ready to monitise the messaging platform through Ads. And now, one of the top executives of WhatsApp has just confirmed the report.

Chris Daniels, who is the Vice President of WhatsApp confirmed on Wednesday that the company was going to monetise the service by allowing businesses to run advertisements. The advertisement will be displayed in the “Status” section of the app.

According to a statement by Daniel, he said;

“We are going to be putting ads in ‘Status’. That is going to be primary monetization mode for the company as well as an opportunity for businesses to reach people on WhatsApp.”

At the moment, it's still not clear how WhatsApp intends to gather user's data for targeted ads since messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, unless the company plans on compromising the end-to-end encryption which isn't a good idea or maybe they plan on linking up registered phone numbers with Facebook data profiles whenever possible. I guess we will have to wait to find out.

Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when Status ads will start rolling out, but going by recent reports, it should start rolling out by early next year with iOS users getting the update first.

Oneplus has just officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone which is the OnePlus 6T. The new OnePlus 6t has a very similar configuration as the OnePlus 6 except for a smaller notch which gives room for a larger display, a slightly larger battery, new In-display fingerprint reader and the removal of the headphone jack.

The OnePlus 6T comes with a 6.41-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels, with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, pixel density of 402ppi and a tiny little water drop notch at the top. It also has the newest Corning gorilla 6 protecting the display and the phone runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

Just like on the OnePlus 6 and many other 2018 flagships, the new OnePlus 6t is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The Microsoft Windows 10 OS has one particular feature which many users are not a fan of and that's the automatic system update. Unlike other previous versions of the Microsoft Windows OS, auto system update is mandatory on the windows 10 without an option to disable it from either the control panel or system settings.

The reason for this new feature is to make sure that all devices running on Windows 10 has the latest security patches, bug fixes, and improvements. As we all know, an up-to-date PC is less vulnerable to attacks.

Even though Microsoft doesn't really give you an option to disable it in the settings or control panel. I will show you other ways to disable automatic system update on your Windows 10 PC.

Method 1. Meter your network Connection: While this method won't totally stop automatic updates, it will help reduce the number of updates that are being installed. Windows will only automatically download and install updates it classifies as ‘Priority’.

1. Click the Start button, then click the 'Settings' or press (Win + I) on your keyboard.

2. Click 'Network & Internet'.

3. Click on WiFi, then click the name of your Wi-Fi connection.

4. Scroll to "Set as metered connection" and turn it on.

Note: This method will not work if your PC is connected to an ethernet. This method only works with WiFi connection.

Method 2: Disable Windows Update Service

1. Press the Windows logo key + R at the same time to open the Run Command.

2. Type services.msc and click on OK (or press Enter key).

3. Scroll down and double click on Windows Update.

4. In Startup type, select Disabled from the drop down list.

5. After that, click Apply and OK to save the settings.

Method 3: Change the Group Policy Editor Settings

This method will only work on Windows 10 Professional, Enterprise, or Education. So if your PC is running Windows 10 home, then you might want to skip this method.

1. Press the Windows logo key + R to open Run Command.

2. Type gpedit.msc and click OK.

3. Now, navigate to Computer Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> Windows Update.

4. Double-click on Configure Automatic Update.

5 Tick "Disabled" under Configure Automatic Updates

6 Click Apply and OK to disable the Windows automatic update feature.

The new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has a 6.4-inch Samsung's Amoled display with a resolution of 2340x1080pixels and 19.5:9 screen aspect ratio. The phone has a massive 93.4% screen-to-body ratio which was achieved by mounting the dual front facing cameras in a magnetic slider. This makes the display flawless with minimal bezels and no notch.

How the slider works is that it seperate the phone's display from the other parts of the phone (including the front facing cameras). This means there is no notch at all and all four corner bezels were slimed down to give the phone a true full screen bezeless impression.

The battery on the Mi Mix 3 is just 3,200mAh which is a bit smaller than the 3,400mAh on its predecessor, the Mi Mix 2s. The phone however supports the latest Qualcomm Quick charge 4.0 as well as QI wireless charging and it's comes with a 10W wireless charging pad out of the box. The phone still retains the rear mounted fingerprint scanner which isn't in any way surprising nor disappointing as the new in-screen fingerprint reader technology is not yet reliable or fast enough even on the new Mate 20 Pro.


Pre-order of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has already began with a starting price of RMB 3,299 ($474/€420/N173,000) for the 6/128GB model, RMB 3,599 ($515/€450/N188,000) for 8/128GB, RMB 3,999 ($575/€505/N210,000) for 8/256GB, and finally the Forbidden city's Palace Museum Edition with 10/256GB goes for RMB 4,999 ($720/€630/N262,000). Shipping of the regular versions is expected to commence on November 1 in China and eventually expand to other regions in the coming weeks.


There is no date yet on when the Forbidden city's edition will start shipping. Xiaomi also mentioned at the unveiling event that the 5G compatible Mi Mix 3 will start shipping in Q1 of 2019.

The company took to its Facebook page to announce that the upcoming Mi Mix 3 will support next generations 5G connectivity. This will make it one of the first smartphones to come with this feature.

Another first for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the 10GB RAM version. So aside the regular 6GB and 8GB RAM version, there will be a special version with a much larger memory. According to Xiaomi, this will be the first smartphone to ship with 10GB of RAM. The availability of this variant will however vary by market so it won't be available for everyone.

The Huawei mate 20 Pro is the last and the latest flagship smartphone from Huawei for the year 2018. The Nokia 3.1 Plus is powered by a battery efficient Helio P22 chipset with an Octa-core cortex ARE processor. This is much faster than the Mediatek MT6570 on the Nokia 3.1. The Nokia 3.1 plus also comes in two memory variants, you can either get it with the 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Both of which can be expanded via the sdcard slot.

In terms of camera, the phone comes with dual rear camera setup with a primary 13 MP sensor with Phase Detection Auto Focus shooter and a secondary 5MP depth sensor with Bokeh effects for your portrait shots. The selfie cam is an 8MP sensor with a wide-angle lens.

The Nokia 3.1 plus packs a 3500mAh battery which is a lot more bigger than the 2990mAh on the Nokia 3.1. It also has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner which is positioned just below the dual rear cameras. The device is expected to go on sale on October 19 at a starting price of $155 which is around N56,000.

Dual cameras on smartphones started off as more of a gimmick before becoming a feature on most high end and a couple of mid-range smartphones. Now smartphone manufacturers are now pushing beyond the dual rear camera setup. Huawei started the triple rear camera trend on the P20 pro and now LG has just adopted something similar on it's LG V40 ThinQ.

The LG V40 ThinQ comes with a 6.4-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels with 537 ppi pixel density and a 19.5:9 aspect ration. The 6.4 -inch display on this device is the largest on an LG V series smartphone.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with a 6GB RAM and a 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via the SDcard slot. It runs on last year's Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with LG's custom launcher on top. An Android 9 Pie update will eventually roll out in the nearest future, but unfortunately we don't have a date yet.

The main selling point of the LG V40 ThinQ is it's 5 total cameras. It comes with a triple rear camera setup with the main camera having a 12MP sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), F1.5 aperture lens for better low light shots and a 1.4-micron pixels. One of the two other cameras has a 16MP ultra wide-angle module for up to 107-degree wide-angle shot, while the other is a 12MP 2X zoom telephoto camera with F2.4 lens.
The notch at the top of the LG V40 houses the earpiece as well as a dual front facing selfie camera with a primary 8MP sensor with F1.9 and a secondary 5MP wide-angle lens with F2.4. The LG V40 can shoot 4K video at up to 60 frames per second and it can also take Slo Mo shots of 1080p at 240 frames per second.

The battery on the V40 is however on the lower side at just 3,300mAh and it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The device also has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
You will be able to get the LG V40 ThinQ in Aurora Black (polished finish) and Moroccan Blue (sandblasted) from October 18 at the starting price of $900.
