DRC has always been the hotbed, the ground zero for most cases.

Exactly what I said, was it....last year or the year before. A business, any business has to make a conscious balance between customers and profit.

And it is a serious balance that if not heeded to will cause a catastrophic implosion of that entity.

In this case PHCN has been serially demarketing itself over the years while lamenting about poor revenue. But as more people head for the door on their way out, the rest who remain are under even more strain from increased billings for PHCN to remain solvent leading to poorer and poorer services.

This cascading negativity will ultimately break the back of public power. PHCN is on a sure trajectory to bankruptcy. As soon as the economy picks up for better affordability of independent/off grid power technology, the fuse will be lit.

Dangote should watch out as well. Energy is no longer a zero sum game. If it becomes too expensive to acquire you can be cocksure people will look for alternatives.

I am power independent to a certain degree. More investments towards 100 percent grid free power is my target then I will focus on mobility to ensure my days of buying their expensive gasoline is over.

This is a classic example of demand for governance being met. It is not a new project so it is not a waste or white elephant.

It is project such that if the FCT had an Executive governor up for election, will have been a serial campaign issue government after government.

The Federal.governmet had better start with those states that are ready, the rest can continue foot dragging till they are overrun by crime. This is how many months, haba.

I never did understand the hostility by this government and others that drove those countries out of ECOWAS.

They had real problems, existential threats of insurgency that their former civilian rulers couldn't handle (obviously due to crass politicking).

Now that the situation is a bit more stable, we and other important, influential west African countries should embrace them and work with them to get back on their feet because their stability and prosperity is our security as well.

That they are military juntas should cause the sub region to be hostile to them, after all we were once ruled by the military, for sixteen good years and we were not excommunicated from ECOWAS, international organisations, neither were our ambassadors expelled from any country or had their ambassadors recalled from Nigeria.

All the international community ever concerned themselves about Nigeria was human rights and the questions of a return to democracy. No one threatened us with military action all those years.

This government did not handle the situation wisely.

Great news. The quest for export income should be unrelenting. However, value added should be the long term goal.so that in addition to forex you multiply jobs and spur allied industries.

The problem here was not speed in my opinion. It's poor judgement due to korope's fault. Check the video it just seems the korope was crossing the road!

So why couldn't he apply his brakes or demonstrate defensive skills by blaring his horn from afar. Watch the video over and over again and observe the driver. He was as calm as a cucumber watching the disaster unfold. Barely twitching a muscle. He was just too fast for his skills.

Most lady recognize this deficit and drive at the speeds they can handle.

Exactly, even I blame the Toyota guy the more, when you approach a crowded place it us expected of you to show down, even for knowing that most of these bus drivers dey craze.

Two good points here.

One, you slow down on approaching traffic no matter where that traffic is situated.

And two, in Nigeria, defensive driving skills is mandatory to get home everyday. Anticipate crazy action from commercial vehicles all the time. Anything painted yellow is a potential accident, whether bus, taxi, keke, just lock on until you have safely passes.

Commercial vehicles on the move regard their side mirrors with complete contempt. They want to multi task. Attending to passengers while driving at the same time takes a bit more than a bird brain.

Both are at fault.
The small vehicles spread across a highway looking stationary is a recipe for disaster. They were lucky it was not a semi.

As for the driver he was obviously driving too fast for his hand-eye coordinating skills. The greatest asset of a driver is estimating distances, speed and vectors of all objects around his vehicle whether static or moving.

I could remember sometime in the year 2000, 4.45 am, Third mainland bridge, on the way to work, crushing at about 130 kph or so in total darkness except for headlamps.

All of a sudden out of the blues a man pushing a broken down vehicle left to right, from the speed lane to the shoulder right across on coming high speeding traffic.

That I am here today and not at the bottom of the lagoon is nothing short of a miracle. But in general do not drive at speeds beyond your coordinating skills. In the video right up to impact the fellow did not even make a single evasive or preventive move.

He was at a speed far greater than his driving skills.

Assembling a bunch of contractors to go build this and that is not development just as building a market, shop, warehouse, etc does not amount to building a business. It is just one small part.

And if that is a persons vision, sooner than later the reality of creditors and hungry family members will arrive.

I was just playing around with Google AI this morning concerning government 'spending' or its choices of investment now that subsidy is gone, with particularly emphasis on the famous or infamous flagship investment, the coastal highway purported to cost a whooping 15 trillion, and what the opportunity cost is for a more people centred thinking.

Simply what 15 trillion naira elsewhere can do:

* Raise oil production to between 260,000 to 430,000 million barrels.
* Raise electricity generation by between 7,000 to 7,500 megawatts.
* Raise refining capacity by an additional 1.5 million barrels.
* Establish between 7.5 to 15 million cottage industries.
* Establish between 2,000 to 4,000 CNG refuelling stations and convert between 1.5 to 2.5 million vehicles.

And I can go on and on using the logic of AI assistance.

Note that this is very rudimentary, perhaps a bit inaccurate on some fronts, but the fact is simple. How money is used, how the savings of subsidy is deployed is the most important factor in the present economic situation and the economic future of this country asides macro economic statistics.

The reason why Nigerians cannot see this correlation is down to the choices the government has made, in preference to things that donot address the immediate concerns of the people from whom this money was taken away from.

What is the Nigerian government investing subsidy savings on. That should be the question that defines the future of this government.

If you are not subsidizing, if you are pulling out of every social responsibility, then what are you investing in, what are you using all that money for.

4 years has come and gone. Saved trillions on trillions not paying subsidy.

What are you investing on INSTEAD.

Because in economics there are only three pathways money flows through. Investment, Spending and Savings. Which of these 3 is the government actively doing. All three are routes to lifting the economy and positively affecting the fortunes of the citizenry.

What is going on.
