See how leaders care for their people, their economies and will go to any length, even eating humble pie to ensure things remain stable.... Any you know why. It is because if those leaders remain adamant and stubborn like ours, they will be ejected from power, simple and short. So it is up to the citizens of this country to remain weak and divided which equals to poverty and desolation. Or join hands to to become a real force to project the kind of change that will secure their destinies. America, China, India....will go to any length to secure their economies inorder to maintain socio-economic stability. Here they say it is not their business to guarantee energy security. That affordable energy is a privilege and if you cannot power something or move about, then remain there and die. |
hakeemhakeem:Food....school fees....house rent... everything except the technology that makes his work better, easier and safer.... Two things that will set this nation free. Checkpoint syndrome and Contra to g sub-culture. End those two and this nation will begin to crawl forward. |
waxyung:You are defending the person who claims he has shared the subsidy savings to them to develop their states. And mor over all the governors are either in the ruling party of which he is the Head or have all endorsed him for the second term. So he cannot wash his hands off the state of the country. He is responsible. And as someone said today, if you claim to know it all and you are adamant at doing what you know, you must accept the results anywhere they are found. Even if half of the citizens desired to end subsidy, zero number of people told the government to give the money saved to states without accountability. It was Mr. Tinubu's personal choice to do that. And if you conduct a straw poll.today asking how the subsidy savings should be used, I am cocksure only 5 percent of citizens will want the savings given to governors. That 5 percent will be civil servants. The rest 95 percent will rather have the funds invested in oil refining solutions to bring the cost of energy down. |
deetin:I mean they all think everyone has short memories and cannot remember their days out of government and in opposition. They started all these, dragging political discourse to unprecedented lows with mudslinging, crude commentary and insults. On this very forum I did say back then that the opposition APC was pushing the envelope of civility and opening a Pandora's box for future political bric-bats. But they all cheered when the likes of Lai Mohammed were running their mouths. All of a sudden they want civility. |
WizardOfNG:As he says, same thing in the south. The south west believes they are 'born to dominate the south'. Leadership in Nigeria has been dominated by two geo political zones since independence and particularly in the fifth republic, northwest and southwest, is that fair.? Even the one that managed to reach there through the demise of his boss, you fellows will not let him 'drink water and drop cup' as they say. By the time the Presidency comes around to the south again in a decade a half will the supremacy not arise once again.... |
motymop:Exactly my suspicion. The last two lines of his deposition sounds like a person who is trying hard to relate with them, to own them after the fact. Clearly a delaminated family and who knows the reasons why and how the mother drowned. Could have been suicide as well. I won't even try speculating homicide because once again his statement contained no references to his late wife. |
AMKAG66:. Rwanda is not struggling with basic issues of governance and corporate existence. They have sorted all that out decades ago and are now powering up. They have set aside the tribal fuel that fanned their civil war and have united properly. Our own tribal conflicting continues to smoulder like a Cuban cigar, won't burn out, won't combust, just creating choking smoke and sweltering heat everywhere. We will not join the big league until we sort out ourselves and create the lasting peace through equity and justice. This I have said many times. Restructure for development. PS, the militancy in the north, east and south reflects the weakness of the Nigeria state. When your body is not being nourished your organs begin to misbehave, the slightest infections put you down and recovery is long and arduous. Our continuous divisions weaken this country if we don't know. Every emphasis on tribe, every religious fight is an erosion of our sovereignty. |
thesicilian:Wrong. There are six formula one races held on public roads in the circuit, the most famous and exciting race of them all - Monaco is held on the raw streets. Dumez and Berger's solid infrastructure in the CBD ensures this can work. |
yewit37486:If it will ever happen, has to be a street circuit and the only place that is possible is CBD Abuja which has the densest collection of high quality roads in the country. |
SonOfWords:I will rather have a deep moat filled with alligators... ![]() |
Look at the whole scenario across Nigeria today on this matter and on this forum about this particular statement. People calculating, analysing.... These are the analyses, the debates that should have happened BEFORE electoral decisions, were made at the polls three and a half years ago. Not whose tribe, whose religion, whose turn, it is to rule, but on things that matter, lives and livelihoods, futures, literally life and death. But Nigerians are expert at hiding their heads in the sand, ignoring red flags, excusing antecedents, assuming anything assumable aka gambling with their future.... jumping into the river without caution only to wail that water is wet... When are we ever, ever, ever going to take RESPONSIBILITY as a people to put pressure on leadership by deciding to exercise our ONLY power on this earth to decide our own future by RELATING OUR ELECTORAL CHOICES with the realities of our existence, our experiences under rule... That little thing in our brains that says my choice to bring these people in has cost me dearly. Can I turn back....because surely there has to be another way out if this. That Prodigal son moment.... |
They just keep.on digging themselves a nice, handsome pit....what a mess. Is there any, any, any Nigerians today that will not admit this country made a collosal mistake in 2015. |
Chenzy:Today's radio debate was on budgets. How much the Presidential air fleet got compared to the rest of the Airforce. It is really pathetic. The 2025 budget gave the entire Airforce something around 1.2 trillion. Actual releases was something like 220 billion. Of this amount the PAF was allocated 20 billion for maintenance of a few aircraft while the rest of the Airforce with all its jets, transporters, choppers and drones working day and night was allocated just 34 billion to keep them flying safely and functionally. And to add insult to injury (no pun intended), while 98 percent of the PAF maintenance budget was executed to keep the politicians and their families safe as they galavanted about, only 14 percent or 5 billion actually reached those military equipment. All this information is open source. So as you look at those pictures you can understand these figures and appreciate where this government has taken us. When I say feudalism is bad, it is bad. When an economy tanks due to poor management, HSE is out the door. Collapsing Health, Safety and Environmental standards will always lead to tragic outcomes. |
lowkeybahdguy:Then Nigeria will start the rebuild after he goes in 2031. Then we look back in relief that the Constitution has put in end to the nightmare. Let him win and do what he likes. It will all end. Then they will start writing books to shalaye and apologize when they see their legacy which they cannot manipulate, in tatters. Shebi Nigerians were warned against reinforcing failure in reelecting Mr. Buhari. Did they listen....no. Only to start blaming the man and his government for the mess. Since you folks are insistent on lightning striking twice. Get ready for the thunder that follows. We are all here in Nigeria to clean our mess up once again. |
Unprecedented crime, unprecedented justice I guess. In my opinion it is a clear message to the military that the recriminations for such a crime will be met with the severest of consequences. It is appalling, institutionally corroding for one to be suspicious of his mate bearing arms simply based on a contra religious, political or ethic identity. I can remember what happened in Nigeria a while ago when members of the security services turned their weapons on their comrades in support of a known violent criminal and militant. It is one of the worst crimes that can be committed against an institution and state. |
When a society refuses to develop. The Negro has serious issues. |
egunna:All they needed to do with the subsidy savings if they were not putting more money in the hands of Nigerians to overcome inflation by industry and enterprise creation was.to.invest in my increased oil production. Maintain you international supply contracts but open up new fields purely for domestic consumption. I understand there are literally tons of blocs sitting there idly. No new allocations have been made. Use the subsidy savings to get production up to three, four million barrels a day to end importation. |
mycar:They are all liars. |
As for the political side of things, it is just a pity. Instead of bringing to the fore a debate, sound points to defend their position on subsidies they were busy attacking personalities that offered an alternative way. I wonder how folks like Mr. Onanuga can wake up this morning without a headache and arrive at his office with nothing but his breafast eggs on his face. |
nairalanda1:Oga Nairalanda. WHAT HAS GOVERNMENT DONE WITH THE MONEY IT HAS SAVED (NOT SPENT ON SUBSIDIES) THESE THREE YEARS. it has treated it as a windfall, boasted in increased revenues and allocations and 'projects'. That is the problem. Spending, spending, not investing, investing. Spending leads to zero returns. Investing leads to sure returns. The citizens of this country have given this government more money than all others before it since independence. THEY EXPECT A RETURN, not to be gaslit like the unfaithful servant in the Bible, so they want their money back, simple. Dangote go a heads-up on this. He too has asked the public to sacrifice their lot to invest in his refinery but the difference with government is, he is promising A RETURN. Why is it so difficult for those in power and their teeming supporters to understand that governance is a social contract and performance, returns are mandatory for the contract to subsist. Why do you mister insist that the people get nothing out of this relationship but continue to sacrifice while the government continues to feed fat. This is mean, it is not good. |
LagosOrigin:I don't call it a shame. It is reality. This is what government's should do. They are there for the people. If you are a doctor administering treatment that isn't working, won't you go back to your consulting office, pick up your books or your phone to seek help before the patient dies. Will you remain pig-headed. I have said it over and over again. The problem is not subsidy, introduced or removed. I am for the removal. The problem has been the application of the resouces saved. This has been the problem. Massive infrastructure - causes inflation. Massive allocations (money to spend) - causes inflation. And I can go on and on. The bottom line. All the government boasts about are the wrong approach to utilizing subsidy savings. There should have been only one direction these last three years. INVESTMENTS, INVESTMENTS, INVESTMENTS. In creating industries, to make stuff aka production. In creating enterprises, to create jobs and shrink the size of government....and on and on. And even if you had no idea of what to do with the savings, just go round the world buying up foreign assets to earn foreign exchange. By now after three years we will need no loans and with a smaller government there will be enough in the treasury to give the citizens much needed relief. This government just doesn't know how to close this patient up after the surgery of removing the. cancer of subsidy graft. This mechanic just doesn't know how to put that engine back together after repairing that deep seated part failure. |
Flexyup:If he was there, yes. Man who has stepped on every toe on earth. |
Between Messi and Ronaldo. Global recognition means across languages, religions, and all the inclinations of the world, football cuts through all those. There is also the time factor that knocks out those who have passed. |
ghettochild:Dismissal, no. She can be a police officer but the training methods have to be right. As for being a farmer, she can be trained to be an auxiliary police officer while being a farmer as well. I have said this before. Security is a service. The structure does not have to be comprised of full time membership. We can have specialists and reservists. Most developed countries are like that. You can have a full time banker in the police services, with his knowledge of banking at the service of the police on call. So it can be with every profession in the value chain of policing. A farming community can nominate and sponsor a few people to serve as auxillary police to serve and protect their community. They can be trained and tooled for the job. If you want to put 'boots on the ground' on every street in every locality in Nigeria it just cannot be full time police officers as the cost to the public will be impossible. But a solid network of full time, specialist and part time (auxiliaries) is the easiest way to cover all bases. |
Emmabyte:To show us how poor their recruitment and training systems are. Didn't watch the video, but I just hope it was not a live fire exercise or they will all be sorry. The first thing in training for the use of fire arms is knowledge and psychology. The recruit must 'know' his weapon and become 'familiar', comfortable with it. That is not a day's job. You are first taught how a gun works or doesn't. You are then put through the mechanics of stripping, cleaning and reassembly until it becomes second nature (the roller bearings in the G3 breech block gave me issues for a while until I mastered it) Then when it comes to marksmanship you start with posture training to make you comfortable in the various tactical positions so that you can maintain a static profile and score hits over a long period of time. This part if the training is physically exhausting. Finally you start your live fire exercise. First with blank ammunition use which teaches you how to clear and safety your weapon since it is a gasless process Then the ultimate, the range classification. By that time you are completely at ease with the weapon. The only thing you will feel for the first time is the kick of rifle and obviously the sound of the round. But there is no danger because the first position in live fire is the prone position with the trainer having one knee on your back so there is no way for you to injure anyone with it. Nothing in those pictures show any sign of the right setup and training methods. Just shocking. |
Is this a comedy show or what. What is happening in this country. |
This is wrong. It is illegal to criticize government or project political views in public while in uniform. He is asking for serious trouble |
Why kill yourself for a war that is not yours.... This is terrible. A time travel back to the tragic battles for Okinawa and Saipan in the Pacific war theatre. |
Mrexcell:If it was designed to carry that load the original designers will have incorporated it in the first place when it was built in 1964. And although these structures are often built with a lot of redundancy but 60 year old used steel is weaker not stronger so when an engineer is going to make alterations particularly stress induced ones, he has to study and be sure of what he is doing and not just take decisions on a fly. |
shortgun:The farmers will gladly bear that cost than lose everything to marauders. May even give them a few mouth organs to chew while awaiting the engine to cool down..... ![]() |
Hmmm...na waoh. What do we do now....to get NCAA to be checking and certifying our military aircraft for flight or what? But like I will always say. When an economy tanks, HSE - Health, Safety and the Environment goes out the window. Standards begin to fail. I will not be surprised if the Airforce is struggling with costs to keep their operations going. |
These days to travel by road you need to be properly kitted against the unexpected. Jungle boots, jeans and long sleeves for those arduous nights in the forest...not flip flops, shorts and flimsy t-shirts. And this particularly applies to ladies. Just don't don anything that will warrant additional attention. This is where we have arrived at in a country we claim is working. |
