That's good news. Food inflation eh. But I hope this is sustainable and not just the seasonal crop harvest cycle we are experiencing, just like the 'stable' electricity we are experiencing due to a combination of hydro power and cooler weather. |
...when an economy tanks HSE goes out the window as I learnt many years ago. It this also part of the consequential adjustment our government has asked us to make.Irresponsibility breeds irresponsibility. When you as a man breeds children like a factory makes sneakers, it is society that will mould them in its image. When a government increases institutions week after week for political patronage that it is not prepared to fund properly, it is society that will fund them in its place image. Not that there is anything wrong with that fundamentally. Just make the laws, make it formal, type and sign the handover agreements and quit pretending that you are in charge. This government obviously cannot cater for this government and it should just handover to the public....who should own it anyway. |
oz4real83:He doesn't have to do anything against his conscience. Not supporting, not voting is also a stand. That has been been my position throughout this fifth republic when I realized democracy cannot work without restructuring. And year after year, government after government has proven that. We either get republican minded or just hug our feudalism and marry it. He has refused to get into bed with strangers. There is nothing wrong with that. He earns my absolute respect in that regards. |
MrEar:Talk about your own country and its own Presidential media setup....oh boy, you will come down with a fever. By the way here is a President not on the ballot but has been on the road for his party candidates and where is yours who is the principal candidate but is delegating the search for a new mandate to his subordinates.... You can imagine, the governors of Texas...Florida, et al campaigning for a no show President in a Presidential race...the oppositoon will have him for dinner. |
So what is all the talk about 'aligning with the centre'...why isn't it yielding dividends... |
I guess he is sponsored by the opposition just as the ruling party has been shadowing the opposition and planting malicious software in it's ranks for years. I guess this is Russia versus Ukraine. Drone for drone warfare. |
EdiskyHarry:You mean you saw him in Port Harcourt after fifteen years or what...I don't gerrit.. |
Controlled substances causing uncontrollable action.... ![]() |
By Ai, the location of the jet at that attitude will put it somewhere over Kogi, specifically around the towns of Kabba, Egbe or Isanlu depending on the exact vector. These are moderately populated areas so the damage from a falling aircraft door will be limited and perhaps not fatal. If the failure had happened just twenty five minutes later the company will be paying for some serious devastation and perhaps dealing with a few casualties on the ground. |
This is not about governance so I care less. Politicking doesn't shift any developmental metric one tick ahead. |
All these is still not enough to win a general election against a person in total control of all the switches of government. Like someone said this morning. If it is to deepen democracy the more parties, the merrier. But if it to change government, the twelve or more political parties presenting candidates will never achieve that in a nation like Nigeria. The only time there has been a 'hostile' takeover of government, in 2015, was achieved by a coalition. I cannot see how this can be released any other way. I'm afraid without combining strengths the ADC, NDC and other will not be able to do it. The numbers are just not there. |
Originalsly:Hahahaha...abeg, abeg. Just consider this dispensation as different. The whole thing started a few years ago with Wike and his famous band at every ceremony. I guess the bug has infected the polity. All is fair to the citizens. The bridge is sorted out. That is all that matters for now. |
Dogalmighty17:Who was Minister of Works then. Have lost track of all these people. |
The truth is that the only reliable thing in Nigeria is the fact that you can trust the vast majority of Nigerians to make the wrong decisions come 2027. We did not get here by mistake. |
dominique:How can they be expected to play in just two weeks. |
Gbadebo19:Hmmm....oh well.. |
Gbadebo19:Well I just hope it works all ways because, although I am not a law expert but I think the law is supposed to cover all the bases, a one shoe fits all, an umbrella for every weather sort of thing, if not it will only create a society of chaos and to some folks, seem to promote or encourage as in this case, extra marital affairs. Like I said earlier if the law doesn't work well, people will only resort to self help. That man will come out of prison severely damaged. |
The Taiwanese had better sit up and get their Constitutional courts working to amend such laws. Law and Justice are the thermostats of society. If they don't work well society begins to overheat and break down with people resorting to extraordinary measures and lawlessness. How can that man go to prison and come out without a really bad feeling about relationships, trust, gender issues, etc. |
Gbadebo19:I don't get it. What if it was an assault, a delivery man for instance molesting the wife, will the husband have to hide the evidence because it was 'obtained illegally'.... Won't the woman, the courts and the entire society welcome such evidence with open arms. I think it is all about how society, that society and how it has chosen to handle gender related issues. |
For this I support China taking over Taiwan. What kind of stupid law is that. 1. That I cannot have cameras in my own house and own the footage. 2. Infidelity is no longer a social crime. 3. Does this law extend to the 'privacy' of burglars for instance... |
Krismas:But you will not allow a referendum in your own country Nigeria. Will you or will you not allow Boko Haram establish a caliphate in the north... Is there any country that will not resist a break up. |
In the future people will be doing the Maghrebi architecture, using concrete to build their roofs. The way things are 'progressing' in Nigeria we may end up back to the Stone Age of fortresses made of pure granite boulders with watch towers, draw bridges and moats...to keep out everything from the Vandals aka iron condemn to bandits aka Robin hoodies.... ![]() Oh, someone just reminded me that watch towers are already popular in places like Port Harcourt...we are really making progress... |
SecurityNgr:Organise security..... personal, neighborhood, whatever. Just don't leave your property unattended to for any discernable length of time. It will take quite a while to remove those sheets meaning the owner doesn't frequently visit, perhaps once a week, likely once a month or more. If you can't afford security, fence the place and put a gate, provide water and free let to the homeless. |
When you build you organise security. Anything of worth will be stolen if you don't. Consequences of a society under reform.... consequential adjustment things. |
keemsleek:As someone said earlier 'the rich will not buy it'. So who are they going to sell it to by inference, isn't it to the poor. So what greed are you talking about. |
Obaofaba:And that is a fantastic development. So why can't Nigeria enlighten and empower them so they don't need to eat from the dustbin as Umaru Dikko said forty-five years ago. |
When the office rotates to the south again the same thing we will hear. We can't, let us align. Been aligning since 1979. When will anyone else align for you. |
When an economy tanks, HSE is out the window. Health, Safety and the Environment take a back seat to survival. When you fight for good governance, you are not only fighting for your dignity, you are fighting for your very life as well. That oil will reach the rich and the poor, the leaders and the led, the political fans and the fanatics as well, everyone will be affected everyone will be endangered. A right to prosperity is the reason why we have government, nothing else. |
You all are right. The only thread that links you all is the sufferings of the citizens you lead be ot pensioners or the populace. You never hear good news. When your principal eventually leaves too in 2031 the next person will also come and be clearing mess. Mess clearing is the inheritance of a citizenry that foolishly continues to vote establishment people into office. May we wise up and stop voting in the rat that knows where the pantry is. |
3kay945:The public doesn't have to know, but the family needs the information. It is important. People just don't drop dead. |
Michaelmercy:Slumped is not a cause. The family should find out what happened for their own sake. Some people only found out about certain things about their bodies. Things they had a reason to pay attention to when their parent or sibling passed. It is highly unusual for someone so young to die suddenly. It is either lifestyle or physiology related. |
Ozumba Mbadiwe. Where my office was all those years ago. Daily commute from Ikeja till the wheels fell off due to the stress of waking by 4 am to beat traffic. And on the way back, one lousy bus or truck breaks down somewhere in Ikoyi and the whole island is on lockdown till close to midnight....what a way to live....totally unsustainable...,had to leave. Life is not only about quantity but quality. Today it is fifteen minutes to anywhere I regularly go. |
