Good narrative.

I graduated from ESUT in 2003 so I'm in the know of what you narrated. In 1999, during second semester exams, we practically jumped over a corpse in a pool of brain and blood to write our exams at the famous AC block.

You see, we are all fugitives from the law of averages. Given enough circumstances and participants in those circumstances, there's bound to be people who will go scot free from whatever crimes they committed. The law of averages rule who will and who will not die in wars, epidemics, natural disasters and sheer accidental deaths.

It is the understanding of this law that make people like me believe there's no god in the religious sense. In that context, therefore, your Emeka might enjoy bliss till he probably dies from natural causes at a very old age while a supposedly righteous person will have his or her life cut short by, perhaps, a police stray bullet.

Police in Yobe has paraded a soldier who raped a young girl in front of her parents in Buni Yadi and bashed her brother in the head with a pestle after he refused to be forced to have sex with a sibling

Private Akhigbe Tijjani, attached to 27 Taskforce Brigade was on a cordon-and-search operation when he entered a girl’s home and raped her in front of her family.

Police spokesman ASP Abdulmalik Abdulhafiz said Tijjani forced the girl’s brother to have sex with his sister.

“When the boy refused, Tijjani used a pestle and hit him in the head,” Abdulhafiz said.

A colleague on the cordon-and-search operation reported Tijjani to the military, prompting his court-martial and dismissal.
